    As always, well done Davie! The first Perdigon video I've seen with the wing case on the proper (top) side of the fly.

    Veniard Micro Glint is difficult, if not impossible to order from a US merchant. However, it seems that Textreme Glitter Thread #09 ( Golden Brown ) is exactly the same material as the Veniard in Brown. I have both the Veniard and the Textreme and can't tell the difference. The Textreme is made in Italy. In the US it's available from Tactical Fly Fisher in a bunch of colors.

    Hi Davie, I'm behind in my viewing but I always enjoy your videos. I never paid much attention to this style other than they're pretty little nymphs and would make nice jewelry as I tried to do once. Now alot has been done on these nymphs for a few years because of the international competition. Today I went to a website and learned a little background on the subject. They are also derived from Russian ice fishing jigs and light line spin fishing. If I spelled it wrong forgive me but they were called marmoosca and the site gave a similar name. I known of these heavy compact jigs for years and have used them ice fishing. Also, because they're suspended to trigger a striker after some jigging, they turn the hook towards the fish on a light take, just by the suction created by opening it's mouth do to the jigs perfect balance. Now advancements in hooks and materials making these jigs is much easier for the diy lure maker and fly tyer. Sorry for the long comment but you're such an amazing teacher you make me think about all aspects of fishing and fly tying. Thank you Davie, I'll certainly give this a try... a.t.b...

    Davie : I would love to see how you fish some of the patterns you tie. Maybe a quick segment at the end of the video either describing how you fish it or a stream side demonstration would be appreciated.

    I mostly fish stillwater areas for panfish, but I like the look of the version with legs better. As tied in the video, the fly looks more like a fry to me than a nymph. With that goal in mind, a cdc puff tail (thinned) and lead tape underbody would help get the fly down. The tag or hotspot could be formed from a separate piece of thread.

    Only just got around to thinking about tying these and my first time with a UV resin and torch. I don't suppose with the amount of flies you tie that you worry about the resin drying up in the nozzle do you? Would you recommned flushing out the nozzle with a solvent after each session and if so what solvent would you use?

    Lovely fly davie 👌🏻👍,Do all resins leave a tacky coating if you dont use varnish having some problems with bug bond lately.
    Thanks
    Jay

      Hi Jay,
      They all do and even the old epoxy resins did the same so I have always finished them off with a fine coat of varnish to keep them clear but it also seals the resin and helps stop the water getting under it..I 'm glad you liked the fly..

    Davie, Micro Glint is not available in the U.S. What would be a reasonable substitute? I was thinking maybe a coupled of strands of crystal flash in different colors to give the variegated effect?

    • @DavieMcPhail
      @DavieMcPhail  6 лет назад

      Hi Stephen,
      The Micro Glint is very like Madeira Metallic Thread which I have used for these flies as well. I bought this thread from a local sewing shop so I'm sure you will find some in yours..It is certainly worth using a crystal flash in different colours to make your own flies...

      Hi Sigpor Steinn,
      It gives the impression of the thorax and as Alberto said the wing case, though I'm sure it would still work just as well without..

    Dearest Davie
    Does this fly travel through the water upside down, that is to say hook point up?
    All the best
    Colbee

    • @DavieMcPhail
      @DavieMcPhail  7 лет назад

      Hi Colbee,
      It does travel and sit upside down and when fished off the bottom the bead would be bouncing off the bottom..
      All the very best Davie..
