This guy recently played Rachminoffs Piano Concerto No. 2 with the York Symphony Orchestra at a concert that I went to, he was selling CDs during the intermission of him playing, it was the coolest concert I ever went to, this year the YSO did what's called A Musical Journey Through Time where in order they played music from the Baroque Era all the way up to today's modern orchestra music, at that concert they hopped in to the 20th Century to visit A Brave New World, the night began with a Suite of Belly Dancers, I forget the name of the piece, then next Haochen Zhang was introduced out to play the Concerto with the orchestra, and at end of the piece everyone was clapping so hard for him and then when we thought it was time for intermission, he actually returned back to the piano and sat down and played Rondo Alla Turca AKA Piano Sonata No. 11 by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, after that it was time for intermission where he was selling CDs, I got to talk with him for a few minutes and ask him some questions, once intermission was done we returned back to the auditorium to end the concert with A Puppet Show called Petrushka from 1947, the piece was in 4-5 parts but it was enjoyable and funny, it was one of the best concerts me and my dad ever went to, we are both buddy's and we like to go to the York symphony every once in a while, this is our first year that we've went together in a real concert, just me and dad, So that's the story about how I met Haochen Zhang.

Haochen Zhang's the greatest young pianist above all that better marketed . Extraordinary! He was overshadowed by blind Nobu that shared 1st price at Van Cliburn competition. His recital in San Francisco attract less than 100 people and most of Chinese origin. Sic transit Gloria mundi!

I see many people comparing this performance with Yuja’s. Music is not a 100m race where time defines betterness. (Is that a word at all?) Zhang played it very well in his own way. Though I have to say that Yuja’s interpretation is more consistent, dynamic and fluent. I prefer her timing and rhythm. Comparing both with Argerich or Horowitz is not relevant, each time brings it’s own quality of performance and technical possibilities of recording. But, again, I think Yuja Wang brought everything to another level.

Horowitz is the only one who ever got this right. He doesn't type it out like every other pianist does, including Argerich.
Also, I have a hard time understanding why so many Chinese have taken to classical: none of them can really play it. It's not part of their universe. They're drawn to it because of the prestige. Not love.
