Oh my gosh as she moved down the tunnel and it went into the over shoulder third person perspective I actually started squealing with excitement!!!! That was SO COOL!! And the close camera movements when she dodged and fought with the brick at the end! The camera movement is insane and it totally captures the feeling of the game! You can tell a lot of work and love went into this! The only thing that I think could have made it better was continuing for a couple of seconds beyond the death screen. She would begin to start the final scenario but over again but then do one tiny thing totally different, and *then* it would cut the black. But even without that, since a lot of filming and editing undoubtedly went into this it's absolutely amazing as it is! Even the makeup and sound effects are incredible! This is easily the best Last of Us short film that I've ever seen!
Yep at that point I put my controller down bc I was actively playing. Then the camera shifted and I had an OMG moment hahahaha

This is exactly the filming camera direction that the HBO series needs to go with. You guys captured the style of the game and great job on the clicker outfits and attack scenes. Plus great filming set location by the way

absolutely not the style it needs to go with. just because it’s being adapted from a video game doesn’t mean it needs to replicate a video game. i’d much rather it have a lot of steady wide frame shots showing off the scenery and representing the feeling of isolation in an apocalypse and only opting for hand held in times it is absolutely needed to represent how stressful and chaotic a situation is. if anything i’d want someone like Emmanuel Lubezki behind the lens.
@sd montanha I just meant they have a team of incredible professional film makers, and they’ll do just fine without ripping off some fan video off RUclips that uses all the sound fx from the game

What the heck this is so accurate, even the way they started walking in the beginning, they hesitate (waiting for the player to control them) just a slight bit, and when she falls down the tunnel how the camera angle moves, small details make a huge difference

1:40 accurately shows how when you are sneaking in the game in the most stealthiest way towards an infected and for god only knows what reason it detects you :D

Woooow that was really cool! You managed to catch camera movement and angles and even speech! My brain had difficulties processing that it was watching a real-life video but it looked and sounded exactly as the game!
This is really good, HBO should really think about gamer audience like you did here. Especially loved the dodges similar in the game and the partner rescuing thing at 3:20

Excellent work! I won't repeat, what others have correctly said about keeping the atmosphere and camera work. There's some film adaptation of _The Last of Us_ planned to be made by some big company, but I seriously doubt they would catch up with such the level of that short film. Really, it's a masterpiece, as it's clearly seen it was made with love and real devotion. I congratulate to all people involved in the project of that film and wish to thank you all.
