- Did Jesus go to hell between his death and his resurrection? Many questions have been asked about what Jesus did between his death and his resurrection. Some believe that Jesus went to hell.
Where does this idea that Jesus went to hell come from in the scriptures? Well, it turns out there are several interpretations as to what Jesus was up to during this 3-day period. This video will explore the question of whether or not Jesus went to hell and if so, exactly what did He do and what was His purpose for going there.

Hey BEAT family! I'm excited about this video because this question has been asked more than a few times. Have you ever wondered what Jesus did after His death but before His resurrection? The traditional view is that Jesus made a visit to hell. But, is that backed up with scripture? I attempt to answer that question in this video and hopefully clear up some of the confusion on this question. Enjoy!
Thank you brother Allen... I have never thought of this question ever before...😅
To all Christians
Jesus saying ["but the one who DOES the will of my father who is in heaven"] reveals you have to do something to enter heaven. That something is the will of the father.
The will of the father is STOP SINNING.
Stop sinning or you will be cast into HELL. If you have stopped continue to not sin.
Hi there, there are lot of questions that need answering. For example did those lead to heaven have new bodies? and If Jesus is going to take the redeem to Heaven why did He tell the Thief today you will be with me in paradise?
Regards
It doesn't make sense to think Jesus went to hell fire. Who would then torture him? The demons?
The Book of Enoch tells more about what happened in the days of Noah w/ certain Angels that left there domain as spoken about in Genesis/ Jude being put into place or prison. This is in The Book of Enoch Chapter 10, 18 and 21.
im a 12 year old, and i randomly one day started thinking about where we went after we kicked the bucket. I took particular interest in Christianity because some of my friends were Christian and I did believe in God. I am a Christian now, and overall I feel a lot happier with my life, God bless you Allen, 💕✝️

Oh I love Revelation 1:18 Where Jesus says “I hold the keys of death and Hades”. I’m not worried about understanding exactly small detail because my King, Lord and Savior is in charge of it all.
Great way to put it, I’ve been living by that as well lately
Agreed. I would only care, God loves us so much to be like us and give a perfect sample on how human need to live. He died on the cross to be humiliated but shows the wages of sin is death has been paid by his resurrection.
Some details really don't make a difference on if we are going to Heaven. It's great to know what we can understand but I believe no one will get it all right. I believe we will probably be wrong about somethings but as long as we get the Gospel right, we'll be ok. Looking forward to that day that I fall on my face for my King and Savior Yeshua, my Christ Jesus!! ❤❤🙏

All we have to do is give the Lord all the glory, some things are not there for us to understand but for us to obey. Glory to the Lamb of God!!!
We cannot obey what we don't understand. I believe God will give us the understanding in all his written word, the bible, if we want the understanding. Otherwise, it doesn't make sense for God to give us the written word and not give us the understanding. Now some people don't want the understanding. They are comfortable where they are and will not listen to anything outside of their comfort zone so to speak.
Amen there are things or mystery of God that we need FAITH to obey...

@@patbrennan6572 Repent in the name of Jesus.
@Pat Brennan , as it stands right now there is two catastrophically major issues with the Quran in my opinion.
1) Surah 5:68 “O People of the Book! You have nothing to stand on unless you observe the Torah, the Gospel, and what has been revealed to you from your Lord.”
The Torah is the 5 books of Moses, the gospel is the 4 Gospels of the New Testament and the Lord would be Christ.
Considering the Quran literally points you to the Bible and it conditions the reader saying that if you don't take into consideration what's inside those you're practically toast. So in this case if the Bible is wrong than the Quran is wrong but on the other hand the Bible never points anywhere else. Also if the Bible is right the Quran is wrong because there are some major contradictions between the two books.
In essence the Quran points to the Bible, the Bible does not point to any other book. The Quran was written thousands respectively hundreds of years after the events mentioned while many of the events in both new and old testament are written either by the people that experienced directly, by somebody close to them or by somebody who had the knowledge of the event that happened either in their life time or a few decades back, with a few exceptions.
2) they belive Jesus was a prophet, but the issue is that this statement alone rendered the Quran utterly wrong.
There are countless parchment about the new testament that leaves anybody doubting about the existence of Jesus speechless, there is not a shadow of a doubt about His existence only arguments about his God hood but not of His existence and death etc... but considering your question that it is of no importance if what Jesus said about himself is true or not. The question is which is correct from a logical standpoint the Quran or the Bible.
Now considering that the earliest chapters of the new testament were written at the time that some of disciples of Jesus were still alive in comparison to the Quran that was written between 610 - 632 AD according to historians, I tend to belive the New Testament.
Jesus said He's the son of God and it's easier to believe an account written by the actual person that was there with him compared to one that lived almost 6 centuries later.
I tend to believe people who were under constant fear and persecution running for their life but rather face death, true torment than to give up what they believed to be true in comparison to Mohammed that lived a life not worth of many praises.
The Bible say that Jesus was the son of God but not only that but he is God the son, everthing was created through Him. In essence according to the Bible Jesus created the universe period.
The Quran on the other hand says he was a prophet and that's it, nothing more or less.
While Jesus prophesied as well he wasn't a prophet, he was the son of God and saying that he was a prophet means he lied because the Bible say He was the son of God, the very book the Quran points to so if the Quran is right that would make him a liar not a prophet, means the Quran is wrong either way.
If Jesus said the truth the Quran is wrong because Jesus is the son of God and not a prophet, if Jesus lied the Quran is wrong again because he would be a liar not a prophet, maybe a false one.
Saying that Jesus was a prophet instead of the son of God in our earthly terms is like saying about Elon Musk that his job description is homeless because he sleeps in offices instead of saying that he's the CEO of the highest valued car company in the world and the world's richest person at this moment.
We can talk about this subject all day long, but the fact still remains, he got up with all power in his hands! 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾

Heyy Bro Allen, i was just having this EXACT conversation with God. Thank you reaffirming it🙏🏾
My problem isn't with Jesus visiting Hell, per se. However, some teach that Jesus was a captive in Hell just as any other sinner, and that this additional suffering was part of the atonement. However, as you point out, Jesus proclaimed "It is finished" before He died. If Jesus did go to Hell, it was as a victor, as His own herald of the good news that sin and death were defeated on behalf of the saints.
I mean He had a part in building it for Satan and his minions. So there's no way He could be hold in hell. How could The Holy Creator be binded the place He , himself build., it's impossible.
Bingo!!
Greek mythology predates christianity and several of those Greek gods went to hell. During those days it was common for a divine god to get a human female pregnant. Hide that baby from some king and that child then grows up to save his or her people and going to hades or the underworld was always part of the task. Same story as jesus

Despite the name calling, I will answer your question. Jesus said in Matthew 12, "as Jonah was 3 day and 3 nights in the belly of the fish, so will the Son of man be....." The Jews begin the day at sunset, not sunrise. Wed. 9AM-3PM Jesus is on the cross. He dies and his body is hurried into the tomb before sunset. Wed. night-Thurs. night-day 1. Thurs. night-Friday night-day 2. Friday night-Sat. night-day 3. Jesus rises just after sunset on Sat. The women reach the tomb early Sun. morning. This timeline reconciles all the gospel accounts. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints we know what our Savior Jesus Christ did after his death and before his resurrection and he did visit the obedient in life and organized those faithful Saints to proclaim the everlasting gospel unto the disobedient and to those who had not the opportunity to receive the gospel of Jesus Christ in this life.

I really respect the why my brother Allen breaks everything down very clearly and understandable🙏🏽
@Travis M - He does not break down the time line of 3 days and 3 NIGHTS
on the cross. He rose on Sunday morning, so it's impossible he spent 3
nights on the cross. And He had to be taken down off the cross and cleaned
and clothed before being buried in the tomb, so how much of Saturday was
he on the cross, I wouldn't think all day and if you want to say they waited
until evening (unlikely) to remove Him from the cross then he didn't spend
Saturday night on the cross. It sounds more like one night on the cross,
and it also sounds like one or 'possibly' two days (or half of the second day
on the cross. He didn't break that down at all. He just quickly said He spent
spent 3 days and 3 nights on the cross, that he was crucified and died on
Friday and was Resurrected Sunday morning. Even he has to know the
time line does "not" add up and should know that is something many people
question, but that's all he said about it and went on to the next thing he
was talking about. I don't know how you see that he breaks everything
down clearly and understandably.
Great explanation Pastor Allen Parr 🙏🏽!!!

Loved it Allen; Great exegesis!
Too bad he didn't mention the fact that David - after Jesus' resurrection and ascension - was still dead and buried and had not ascended to heaven (Acts 2:29 and 34). So much for the theory He took saints with Him when He ascended. It is still true today: Jesus alone has immortality (1 Tim 6:15,16).
Saints will not receive immortality until resurrected at Jesus' return. Paul explained that in 1 Cor 15:42-54 and 1 Thessalonians 4:13-17. Why don't people listen???

Jesus is God, so since this is true, Jesus could be anywhere and everywhere at the same time. Just my personal opinion. I don't think Jesus can be confined to one place at a time especially since we're talking about spiritual realms
Because Jesus Christ made himself limited in power. So at that point, he cannot be anywhere and everywhere at once, i guess.
But in his divine form, he is omnipresent
Edit: Jesus can't be confined
There is limited evidence in the Gospels that Jesus could be multiple places at once and he could hold multiple conversations in multiple locations at once. It is implied that Glorified people may also have this ability.

I was one who raised under the Episcopalian or Anglican faith, had to memorize the Apostle’s Creed and the Nicene Creed when I was very little. Although I do believe when I was confirmed at 13, I was saved, I still went to the altar in my 20s and and again in my 30s to re-affirm my life to Christ and say the sinner’s pray, in interdenominational and nondenominational Christian churches, one of which had the Apostle’s Creed on the wall of the church. We had Bible Study and the scriptures that indicate Jesus went under the earth, were cited as proof Jesus freed people who believed in God but we’re disobedient. I remember the discussion of Moses who because he was disobedient, Gods did not allow him into the promised land. He was cited at Bible Study as one who was speculated was probably in that group.
I still believe that Jesus went to free the believers who were captive since Jesus had already conquered death and paid for our sins on the cross, He had the power to go down to hell and free them, before ascending to Heaven to be with God the Father. He Is Able to do anything and that was what He was supposed to do after dying on the cross for our sins. We the living are saved and the dead who believed in God, in the Old Testament, were saved by Jesus as well.
I really enjoy how you explain everything.
Jesus did not descend into no hell. The keys to hell means, hell cannot touch him.
Awesome thanks for the information!
Great teaching!
Amazing question to answer. Some of us are really young theologically and we only have the literal bible for the facts. When this first reached my ears it was so confusing.
CLEARLY EXPLAINED To God be the glory!🙌🏾👏🏾
Too bad he didn't mention the fact that David - after Jesus' resurrection and ascension - was still dead and buried and had not ascended to heaven (Acts 2:29 and 34). So much for the theory He took saints with Him when He ascended. It is still true today: Jesus alone has immortality (1 Tim 6:15,16).
Saints will not receive immortality until resurrected at Jesus' return. Paul explained that in 1 Cor 15:42-54 and 1 Thessalonians 4:13-17. Why don't people listen???
You nailed it squarely and beautifully!!!😃
Great video
This was actually a good video!

Luke 23:43 And Jesus said to him, “Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise.”
Case close.
Really
Read Luke 16:22-23 carefully. Paradise (Abrahams bosom) was also in the heart of the earth. Literally next to hades (Hell) at one point.
@@d-foros817-h6 I was just going to say the same thing but I believe Jesus preach to them and took them to heaven because if I’m not mistaken it says somewhere in the New Testament that he poured out his actual blood on the altar in heaven in front of God Also the place where Lucifer committed the first sin had to been cleanse with his blood
Another very exciting scripture is
Matthew 23:2 Jesus said;
""The teachers of law and the pharisees are seated in the chair of Moses, therefore do whatever they tell you, and observe it.""
Does that contradict what you've been taught about Paul?
Here we have Jesus telling us to observe what Moses wrote.
Kinda makes you think, huh?
It really because its something deeper being said he doesn't want us to take it in a literal way. Moses was the type and shadow of what was to come...that means we need to taken behind the veil so we can understand the REVELATION
Sending heartfelt prayers to all confronting obstacles - may the current of financial difficulties shift to the river of abundance, may health blossom anew, and may divine blessings grace the path of each soul. 🌺🙏💕
My friend, thanks again foe an awesome explanation. Be blessed
"If possible so far as it depends on you live peaceably with all." Romans 12:18
Follow the perfect example of Jesus. He is the ultimate peacemaker because He made peace between us, sinful man, and a holy and just God. Be a peacemaker today. Hopefully this inspired and encouraged you today. God bless you.
Allen, I love your teachings. You are ALWAYS, hitting the target straight on. Likewise, many of the topics you raise are issues I have pondered more than once. Praying, not feeling like praying, closeness to God. Forgiveness, etc. Thank you Allen for I know you have really researched these issues. God has his hand on you. God bless you.
Jeffrey.
Enjoyed this very much.
I was raised United Methodist. When I learned the Apostles Creed, it did not contain, “He descended into hell…” I can’t remember when it was added, but I was quite confused as to WHY it was added…I am so thankful for spiritual maturity, spiritual discernment, and messengers like you who help us obtain clarity. Thank you!
Interesting. I feel motivated to study and reread about this toppic.
Here's another topic for research if you have the time.

How do Christians get past this?
@@qw2ps4 Read Matthew 23. He tells them NOT TO DO AS PHARASEES. He even goes step further and tells them call no man rabbi for Jesus Christ is your master. Jesus Christ hadn't gone to the Cross yet! Now Jesus Christ paid it all in HIS blood!
@@MichaelAChristian1 Yes but he still says to observe and do Gods instructions according to what Moses wrote.
@@qw2ps4 He came not to destroy but to fulfill. So they were to follow as best they can. I don't see contradiction here. We see that Jesus Christ fulfilled the law. No flesh is justified by the deeds of the law. John the Baptist was the last of Old Testament prophets. Love is the fulfillment of the law. Jesus Christ paid it all in HIS blood. For God so loved the world HE gave his only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in HIM should not perish but have everlasting life!
@@MichaelAChristian1Who is the He you were referring to.
Jesus and the apostles all celebrated Gods Holy days, and the apostles all kept them after His ascension.
They didn't follow man made laws.
Or man made festivals.
Nor did they take pagan feast days and claim that they were now changed to Gods feast days.
But you do & claim there's no problem here, why?
In my bible study we have an apologetic question every week and this is so ironic that you posted this because that was our question last week. I learned so much about hell I had no idea bout Sheol, hades, Tartarus, the great gulf, paradise, Abraham's bosom until a few days ago. It's so crazy how much knowledge is in the bible! 🤯
You explained it extremely well Allen! May the LORD continually bless and favor you with His Revelation and Grace!
Man I love how Jesus let the fallen angels know.. I conquered death sin and satan!!🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
