  • This is the South African national anthem. Or at least the 1st half of it. It was composed as a hymn by South African Enoch Sontonga in 1897 and later became the widely adopted song of resistance to apartheid. It was in fact banned by the apartheid regime and was later adopted by Zambia, Namibia, Tanzania and Zimbabwe as their national anthems, tho only Zambia and Tanzania still have it as their national anthem.

    Soooooo beautiful a composition. Beautifully arranged and well played. As a Jamaican 🇯🇲 little girl in the 80s, this was my favourite South African song.
