A masterpiece song, from (in my opinion) the greatest Beatles solo album. So heartbreakingly beautiful, love the sighing quality of the song and the way it keeps building...the mournful slide guitar, and the lovely echoes of "Hey Jude" added at the end. Check out the powerful live version of this song from the "Concert for George" which features Eric Clapton and Billy Preston singing it.

The artistry is on full display here. Single-tracking voice to double-tracking here and there, then quartet harmonies, then chorus with chanting… enchanting.

From Harrison's first solo Lp, "All Things Must Pass" released in 1970. Three Lp set and highly acclaimed. Spawned two #1 hits "My Sweet Lord" and "What Is Life".
I may be wrong but I'm pretty sure I read a few years back that the song is mainly about about the bickering in The Beatles near the end and how mean they could be towards one another. Notice the fade the last few minutes sounds a lot like the last several minutes of "Hey Jude". If you missed that listen again.
Check out the first track on the album " I'd Have You Any Time" written by Harrison and his good friend Bob Dylan. These two writing a song together, you know it's gonna be great.
Eric Clapton plays the wonderful electric guitar on this one. Check this one out.
    Peace ❤❤

I was only 15 when this song came out and was going through the typical teen angst -- and I got quite emotional the first time I heard it, especially the weeping slide-guitar solo in the middle. Now here I am at 69, and the feelings for "Isn't It a Pity" haven't changed at all. A beautiful song -- one of my all-time favourites. Thank you for this. The Beatles were the music of my life -- and George Harrison was their soul.

I (Ricky) will be 69 in June of this year, so we are from the same era. The Beatles were great. Thank you so much for watching with us.

I turned 68 a few weeks ago. George Harrison's music, and the spirituality he expressed in it, were, and still are, important in my life. Isn't It a Pity, so simple, sincere and genuine.
"How we break each others hearts, and cause each other pain, forgetting to give back, isn't it a pity, isn't it a shame."
George's inspiration came from his knowledge that God lives hiding in all of us-"the love there that's sleeping," as he sang in While My Guitar Gently Weeps. These are certainties he gleaned from the the Vedas, the Bhagavad Gita, and meditation upon God.
By their fruits you shall know them.

It's about the same length "HEY JUDE" was. I was 16, nearly 17 when the Beatles first arrived in the U.S. on Feb.7, 1964 in NYC to give their first live appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show on Feb.9, 1964. Then their first concert in Washington DC at the Coliseum on Feb.11, 1964. THAT complete concert is on You Tube and is the BEST concert film because they are SO ANIMATED on stage, much more than when they were on The Ed Sullivan Show 2 days before. Ringo is just beating the heck out of his drums. You should watch it some time.
Then they went back to NYC to perform at Carnegie Hall on Feb.12, 1964. The first ROCK band to ever perform in that prestigious concert hall. Flew to Miami, Florida for their 2nd appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show that moved down there for that particular show on Feb, 16, 1964. They stayed there for a few more days to relax and then flew back to London. Their third appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show was on Feb. 23, 1964, which was TAPED in the afternoon of Feb. 9th with another audience, ( the same day as their live first appearance that evening.) There were 70,000 requests for just the Sunday night Feb.9th show for a theater that held about 720 people. (The Stephen Colbert Late Night Show now occupies that stage and theater that the Beatles performed on. It is now called "THE ED SULLIVAN THEATER.") MORE BEATLES and SOLO Beatles reactions PLEASE 😊

George was always my favorite Beatle. You almost can't go wrong with anything from All Things Must Pass but my favorite songs are I'd Have you Anytime, I Live For You (originally an outtake), Beware of Darkness, Ballad of Sir Frankie Crisp, and Hear Me Lord. Wanda you said you grew up listening to gospel, so I'm curious your take on George's spiritual music on this album and the Living in the Material World. He was I believe some sort of Hare Krishna but beyond that many of his songs would have been similar to your version of gospel, where is seemed to always be praising/seeking his version of "the lord."
