There's an older 'Good Evening Ulster' intro in a documentary in which Gloria Hunniford celebrates 80th and looks back. Before that was UTV reports with David Dunseith. The (sound) of the UTV reports intro was used by UTV for their 'Lunchtime' programme until rebranding in 1987. UTV 'lunchtime' launched 1975 according to UTV 50th birthday bookn. Brian Baird continued from presenting UTV reports to reading miscellaneous news on Good Evening Ulster, and on the pre Children ITV short UTV news bulletin

The UTV Branding will be axed at some point and be replaced by ITV Northern Ireland, though it’s highly highly likely

I know ITV in London do not want to use "Northern Ireland" as a title for the region. This is why ITV1 is the name used for everything apart from regional programmes which get the UTV name.

Oof, you can tell a lot of these top news stories are related to The Troubles. :-( But I guess that is to be expected when looking at any Northern Ireland related newscast in the 80's and early 90's.

There is an older intro from the 70’s when the news programme was called ‘UTV Reports’. It is here: ruclips.net/video/zenBRvFs1Rw/видео.htmlsi=TxxjsKGtThgW2Nq9

Has anyone else noticed that the first intro theme tune is the same as HTV’s Wales This Week?
Wales This Week began in September 1982, so I wonder where the tune is from. Who had it first? Is it just a piece of library music?

I noticed too. It's most likely library music. Regional programmes used library music a lot to keep costs down.

Sounds familiar. So this is where the Indonesian Metro Highlights and Metro Pagi (Morning) intro music comes from.
