  • For six years, the major political parties at Westminster have agreed that self-government shall not he restored to Ulster until Protestants and Catholics there agree to share power in a local parliament. Fifty years of Protestant supremacy was seen as enough.
But power-sharing has failed. The much-heralded demise of the provisional IRA has not taken place. And after a sweeping general election victory in the South, Ireland’s new Prime Minister, Jack Lynch, has restated his view that peace cannot come to the North until Britain withdraws. Both the main opposition parties in the South and the main Catholic party in the North, frustrated. by the lack of any British political initiative in Ulster have supported the Lynch statement. In effect, the political representatives of some 8O% of the island’s population are now broadly agreed on the aim of a federation of North and South.

12:41 Paisley's Solution to Brexit " if the link is broken then we'll become independent"
When Northern Ireland leaves the UK the solution is to become an independent state.

That's the problem...Its too good of an idea for our politicians North and South. LOL
All joking aside, the problem now would be that the people in Northern Ireland would only be ruled by the EU....which the majority voted against. What ever chance of a Federal Ireland was then is lost now. An Irexit may have to be proposed first to accommodate Irish federalism. Do the people in the south want the people in the North? Surprisingly the answer is No especially in some areas. Only time will tell.
      THX.

@@PiggyWiggyO Great response, I was intrigued by this idea but i do understand there's no chance. I live in Derry, today with my work I crossed the boarder fives times!! Can't believe the bastards in government are glad to leave a mess. My fear is under an Ireland (united) the orange terror and sectarianism would be immense. Take care PiggyWiggyO we're all in it together
