I lived in Mainz from 2000-2004 and I worked at the Hyatt as a chef in the Bellpepper Restaurant and the Dom had that same scaffolding back then. lol I miss Germany. What I would pay for a Döner right now. You just don’t find them in the States 😢
What a beautiful and scenic area of a part of Germany that I have never seen before! Thank you so much again PopTravel for such unique locations of the world to the flat screen TV here in my living room in New York City! It's always so fun to take journeys with you. Cheers from NYC and have a great weekend my friend!
@@micalino2215 Sometimes people do not realize that the city in which they live is beautiful; until years later they realize that they miss it. It is the case with me. I studied in Darmstadt, Germany, for 7.5 years, close to Mainz. I had plenty opportunities to enjoy lots of cities close by to enjoy. But, I did not take advantage. Now, during the pandemic, my wife and I watch these German videos daily during our physical exercise. I also watch the video about Darmstadt and I realize that I did not know about Stadtmauer. Same thing about Old Frankfurt and more. How can I go back? I am 70+ and there is not much opportunities left. [I did visit Mainz, but I did not know much.] (I now live in Canada.)
Just sitting here in the States saying I need to go home to my Mainz, open RUclips and a fresh upload. Of a walking tour is up. Thanks for taking the edge off And tension of being in the usa.
Thank you! The video here was recorded September 2020 though for a more spring / summer atmosphere there was one Mainz walk also in March 2019: ruclips.net/video/scjLxGh17rA/видео.html I may be in the area again soon and will see if another video happens. Then I will update the video-description(s) with a link. Thanks for watching!
I hear ya, but i think and feel and hear from some friends, there is a also quiete a 'Tension' in our Homeland. And to be clear and honest here , last time i visited in 2019, it felt sort of 'dead' to me. talking about Mainz. maybe its just that i left a long time ago , and forgot how things felt back then , but it seems like Mainz is in a Bubble. And that could be actually a beautiful thing, in a Strange way. But i sure miss my old Hometown too!!! glad to see at exactly 15 minutes to your right we can see that kleine Steh Cafe is still there. Had Nußhörnsche mit kaffee jeden Samstag Morgen vor der Arbeit. Good times
I did a walk this summer in Mainz which is currently in the members section only yet shows a different route. You can also go up to the Drususstein, from the Roman Theatre. If you are there in Mainz for several day, maybe also take a short bus/train to Wiesbaden and have a look around. Frankfurt (Main) is also rather nearby as the whole area is well connected by trains. I have several videos of every city. Even all 3 cities are possible in one day - like I did it on my first recording in 2019: ruclips.net/user/results?search_query=poptravel+mainz ruclips.net/user/results?search_query=poptravel+wiesbaden ruclips.net/user/results?search_query=poptravel+frankfurt
I was stationed at Lee Barracks from 1974 to 1977, The Mark was at around 4,25. The time of the big parades and carnivals is always fun time. One thing You'll notice in this fine Christian town is the Lack of minority groups and those requiring wheel chair use. Not as bad in this walk around, but I did watch a walk around from another person in Mainz and not one wheel chair or Black person was seen .
I have the Osmo Pocket and microphone mounted on a power bank. Usually I hold that in my left hand while I have a phone for map and photo in my right hand. The perspective is a bit low like in film as I keep it around waist level which is most comfortable
One of the few big cities with an original medieval center. Mainz is highly underrated.

just wondering, how do you film these with the Osmo Pocket? do you actually have it in a pocket, hold it in front of you, or something else?
