@@geraldhammond3260- They were still leftist dogs, who gave Reagan bad press every chance they got. At the end of the Carter era, they'd gotten used to leaping out of their seats and screaming questions at him like a pack of wild dogs. Reagan made it clear before his first news conference, that those days were over... Hence, their apparent good behavior here. Still, nine out of ten of them hated Reagan, and that's apparent by how they wrote about him on a daily basis.

@@geraldhammond3260 Maybe you would rather stay blinded but I would rather have the press to ask real questions instead of letting Trump just say what he pleases and walks out of the room when we know he's a lying to us. Trump's saying they're doing a very good job knowing he is lying to us. People could always respect Reagan but they will never respect Trump. Reagan is nothing like Trump. Trump will never really be remembered as a real president because he acts like a petit child. Whether you choose to see it or not that's your choice but he gets in there and he just argues with people like a petit child instead of acting like a man and just answer the question.

There has never been a generation that has been as concerned with the environment, the oppressed, the minority, etc. as the current one despite their faults. As someone who longs for the days of Reagan and Carson I think we should give the young 'uns a shot and the benefit of the doubt. The noisy ones will always be the ones who get the most attention, but the silent ones are the ones who work to make society better, bring clean drinking water to the world, etc. I know there are many many faults with many many aspects of our society today but I want to encourage you - have hope. There is much yet to be thankful for, even today!
May I say to whoever reads this comment, I have prayed that the Lord Jesus Christ God and His Holy Ghost be with you and your loved ones. But he apparently didn't care about the law all that much. And now Californians have to deal with this stuff that he enacted decades after Reagan died. The spectre of government hangs over the country long after its fiercest proponent, Reagan, stopped standing. Sure he _CLAIMED_ to be anti-government, anti-state, anti-centralisation. Do you remember when Reagan was President? I certainly do. Perhaps you were too young? That is no disgrace. You are incorrect in saying that he “did not need to read a TelePrompTer.” He certainly did, and was very skillful in doing so. Actually, President Reagan used the TelePrompTer a lot, and I mean A LOT! It was said that he never met a TelePrompTer that he didn’t like. Ronald Reagan was the King of the TelePrompTer. Except for news conferences when he spoke extemporaneously, President Reagan ALWAYS used a teleprompter or note cards whenever he made a speech. Using a prompter made him appear strong, because he was an absolute master communicator who knew how to deliver his lines to the public; he knew how to pause; he understood vocal variety, and he knew how to emphasize certain points. Because he was a trained actor, President Reagan was great at hitting his mark and delivering his lines. There was none better. NONE! On the other hand, speaking off the cuff at Press Conferences was definitely NOT his strong suit, especially as he aged throughout his 70’s throughout his two terms as President. Ronald Reagan was never really comfortable at Press Conferences in my view. JFK, in my opinion, was far Reagan’s superior when speaking at Press Conferences. But he was 30 years younger at the time.
