- here's a video of me painting a stormtrooper helmet bronze in real time (minus a quick spray paint base coat) using mostly acrylic paints. It's long and I chatter the whole time but avoided editing as much as possible to show the process.
These hemets were painted for the Vans Pool Party as trophies for the skaters who competed. Really excited that some of my favorite skaters actually won some of these. at the end is a photo of Steve Caballero with one of the bronze helmets. :D
Perfect. Love you did it all in realtime.
This video is golden, such a great tutorial and really shows how much work goes into a great piece!!
This video was a life saver thank you so much for this Gordon!
Bro your rant about the nose grill not being the mouth made me laugh hahah I hate when people call it the frown as well.
That actually looks pretty cool!!
Hey Gordon, just saying thank you. This is an older video but it’s new to me. Working on a Madame Leota headstone and want to age the 3D printed face plaque.
never saw this! Yess Gordon!
Another great informative video, they look great by the way.
Ya should have put one of those BLUE COVID MASKS on it, ya can never be too careful huh lol. A brilliant video, thank you you're a Trooper👍😷👍
I love the late night rambling tutorial videos. That turned out great.
EDIT-Just noticed at the end the finished trophy. Hope you do a video on Sean's helmet stands sometime soon.
I AM!
what bottle is that he used with verner brush at 28:01?
Awesome thanks for the tips.
Wow this is amazing 😊
Gonna do this for my mandalorian build
Good luck with your presentation :) You are getting really good results with paints. Have you ever done brass or bronze tinting over alclad chrome ? I know you are really busy guy but I just hope you have some footage of your new gold tinting method. I tried the food coloring with aqua gloss but the result was not great, so i'm gonna order some liquitex and try your exact method. Well thanks again for sharing all your methods, it really helps.
Are the paints matte or gloss??
This video is awesome! I’ve been trying to find the helmet online but cannot find it anywhere on the trooperbay website you mentioned! Are you able to share a link at all?
Fantastic tutorial! This is perfect for a couple of projects I have been working on! Also this seems within the realm of my abilities so it doesn't seem too daunting to try. A couple of questions though, will the paints you used work just as well on resin or materials like Apoxie Sculpt? Also, is this the same technique you used for the silver and gold helmets?
Thank you! Not the same as the silver and gold but the technique here should work great on apoxie sculpt!
@@gordontarpley Okay great! Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions!
What helmets are you using? 3D print?

Whare did you get the bronze paint from pal?
Would this method work on something that’s metal?
Yes make sure you use a clear coat.
You about the Stormtrooper "Frown": Everyone is entitled to their own wrong opinion

If not get the hell outta here. Hahahaa 😂😂😂😂😂😂 that alone made me subscribe. Lol the Rustoleum High Performance Paint matte black or flat black looks great. Try that one on something on a video I'd love to see it. It drys super fast
