Since the patient appears to be under the suspension, I would have run a load binder over the hood and secured it to each wheel before lifting. This would have avoided needing to lift the vehicle off the suspension, and the patient may have been able to be removed earlier in the evolution. In this case, the rescuers needed to lift about 4" before the tires started moving.

Ive been in the fire service for 16 years and I would like to address all the previous comments at one time here. 1) The speed at which these firemen are working are for thorough training purposes, in a real emergency this happens much, much faster. 2) The patient is pinned under the front axle, moving the body of the vehicle an inch on the suspension to properly use step chocks to ensure proper stabilization doesn't affect the pressure on the patient at all as you are only moving the body of the vehicle not the axle.

I understand now, thank you. Wouldn't it be quicker and almost as safe to put blocks behind the rear tires and use 2 jacks simultaneously on both sides of the vehicle close to the patient?

Sorry but U mention to stabilize the vehicle on the opposite side, but at the same time when U p/u vehicle from opposite side creates more pressure against victmen so is contradictory to what U said! excme. but I would wedge the .victim side first without p/ng up the vehicle but thanks I think U did it in purpose for other people to think twice.

"any downward pressure could further injure the patient..." so lets pick up the passenger side when the victim is under the driver side. smh. I am knew to all of this, but I have done enough training with my department and watched enough videos to say this guy is wrong! Also firefighter 1 and 2 should only be down on one knee in the event of the car shifting they could get out of the way a lot quicker then someone on both knees. More like life 6 inches crib 6 inches in this tutorial. Should be a firefighter at each corner of the car as well, more eyes to see if something goes wrong. At this point the victim is dead due to taking so long.
