I prefer the old style. I could carry that for travel, work a day at the beach, whatever and have most of what I would need with me. I even used one as a nappy bag when my kids were little. The new one has not only lost volume and style, but also functionality. Disappointing. Thank you for your comparison. That was really great, and useful. You reminded me why I only used the new Defea style for a couple of days and it's stayed in the bottom of my closet every since.
Hi! Both bags look great! I love the colors. I heard Laurie and Poo Doo Dog taling about how they changed the Defea. It's nice to see them compared side by side. I have to say I love that little diagonal zipper on the front pocket. Otherwise it looks like you can't go wrong with either one. Each has it's benefits.:) Thanks for sharing. xoxo :)
Thank you! I was surprised that there was a size difference as well. The newer one is smaller too. I do like all the pockets of the original defea since it has more organization.
It’s a tough choice. I like them both however I was very surprised that the dimensions were so different. I think that if i didn’t want to carry a lot, the new one is nice because it’s smaller. I do like the older version because of all the pockets and the attention to detail it has. I feel like they could’ve put the faux leather detailing on the handles though and kept the fuzzy monkey for the newer one. I like them both but for different reasons.
I loved the old version, new one is way narrow and doesn’t work as well for me. The long zipper (across the bag horizontally) is much bigger. It allowed me to store my wallet inside without any issue for additional protection. Now I can’t. I wish they bring the old version back.
I feel the same way with some of the newer Kipling bags I have purchased. The quality just doesn’t feel the same. I like the older styles more as the quality seems better. Just my opinion of course. Thanks so much for watching! Have a great day!
I agree. I like the monkey keychains from the original also. Many of the bags have different emblems, no key leashes and are overall different. Sometimes different is good but IMO the original is so much better. They should’ve made a smaller version of the same bag if they wanted to make one that was smaller and not change so much about it. Unfortunately I do not own a macbook air m1 so I’m not sure. The bag IMO seems a bit small to hold a laptop. My laptop doesn’t fit even without the case as the bag is not tall enough. My laptop fits in the older style but just barely and that’s without a case on the laptop. I’m not sure if this helps or not. My laptop is an older 13 1/2” macbook pro.

The old Defea offers better organization with the additional zippered front pockets and size. Bring them back, please!

I just got me a Seoul kipling backpack. I could be wrong, but I think my new bag is made cheaper than my other kipling bags.

I have a macbook air. It does not fit. The curved top would make it hard to zip.
