Marriott frustrates me with the redemptions at times, the no waived taxes and fees, etc. Overall I’d say I prefer Marriotts. Stayed at Grand Hyatt Manila (cat 3 Hyatt) last week as an Explorist. We were upgraded to a Grand KIng room and didn't have to ask (excellent room with view). We used an earned award pass for Club access; we didn't have to pay for food during stay since breakfast and dinner were free at the Hyatt Club (alcohol free too during dinner) also free refreshments during day at the Club. This was the best redemption for CC points Iv'e ever had period!

    Shaun made some good arguments for when Hilton is a good choice. But just to boost the Hilton argument, a little more… Two things they have going for them are very family friendly: guaranteed connecting rooms, which can be huge if you have children; as well as the ability to combine points with a family member.
    Like he said, it all depends on the type of travel and frequency of travel you do.

    • @AnthonyVenture
      @AnthonyVenture  8 месяцев назад +1

      Yes for sure, however funny, I read a couple of comments mentioning how Hyatt was family friendly I think due to the room sizes but then again, every property is different.
      And actually, you can combine points between random people if you want with both Hilton and Hyatt.
      For Hyatt, the article is here: thepointsguy.com/guide/transfer-hyatt-points/
      But yes for sure, all depends on you, what’s in your areas of vacation and how high level you want to go!

      @@AnthonyVenture I guess since all of my Hyatt points come from Chase, my wife and I just combine points at the chase level, so I have never really looked into combining Hyatt points. However, it bothers me to no end that American Express does not allow you to! 🫣

    Hey Anthony. 100+ nights Hilton diamond guy here. Ironically enough I just booked my first Hyatt reservation today as a points transfer from CSP SUB. Also discovered I got almost twice the value on points by doing the transfer directly to Hyatt vs using the Chase Portal. I literally got twice the size of room at almost half the points. Point transfer was instant.
    Why did I book Hyatt when I have zero status there and am Hilton Diamond? We'll turns out I'm learning that Hyatt is much more family friendly and those room suite availability (ie. Separate room for kid) is better. This can be almost impossible to find with Hilton and Marriott chains

    • @TheTravelLane
      @TheTravelLane 9 месяцев назад +2

      You are absolutely correct, Hyatt (status) is really only useful at the Globalist level. If you are actaully going to try and earn status I highly advise only doing it for Globalist otherwise it's a wasted effort.
      However, Hyatt points are quite useful regardless of status. The value is amazing across both low and high end redemptions which is something we really don't see in other programs.

    • @AnthonyVenture
      @AnthonyVenture  8 месяцев назад

      Like you all said, status vs status, Hyatt seems to do a lot more for you on an actual realized level than Hilton across the board. Of course there are outlier properties of each program, and all of this is skewed by our personal experiences.

    Hilton Loyalist here. However, will stay wherever the value is and have stayed in all properties Marriott, IHG, Hyatt, etc. I travel quite a bit but never enough to earn any type of status these companies require to earn top tier.
    Hilton just works for me and I can always get luxury that is on par with Grand Hyatt’s, Thompson’s etc., so the argument that luxury portfolios are better in Hyatt or in Marriott seems just as biased as my comment. Just my two cents.
    Otherwise great pod.

      I can see that for sure. The funny thing is we usually are loyal right up until our points run out or run out of cards to apply for, at least in a few of our cases etc.
      But like anything, each property, even within the brand, can vary depending on location. Have had the best and worst stays in Curios etc.

Its just kind of emotional damage to spend 320k-480k for points just for a short 5 nights trip. Marriott you can spend 160-200k points and already it will be nice properties. Hyatt even lesser.
