This comment is from 7 years ago, but I'm still a massive CC fan and massive grimes fan. It's a shame CC didn't las they're my favourite artists, but at least I do enjoy grimes new songs she's putting out along with her Garageband bedroom songs lol. It's mad how far she's come now

I think you either fall into the band of seeing Alice as the face of the group or preferring Ethan for the music. Well, that's how it seems. There's no-one really rooting them together as a band which sucks because although the music was amazing they complimented each other so well and the band only really took off with her so it's unfair to just sit in either camp of loving one over the other
I'm glad I'm not the only one that realizes Crystal Castles was made up of two geniuses and not just one. They created something special that can't ever be replicated, not even by them.
Gotta love them both. Crystal Castles simply needs one with the other.

I'm glad someone finally said it. Taking sides is stupid & imo Crystal Castles (III) is their best album, so everyone needs to stop hating on it. They're both incredibly talented & both produce the best music together, unfortunately, although I love Amnesty & Alice's solo singles & EP. Latest I heard she's touring with Manson & EK is suing her for apparent rape allegations. 😬
I'm not fond of Edith tbh because she's like a less talented Alice clone, even down to her hair & fashion sense. It's like EK was scared to present the world with something different. Alice just blossomed. I think her style, attitude, lyrics etc. helped carry the band. She's a powerful & unique force to reckon with. I don't think people should take sides or hate on Alice. Even their famous buds have done, I spoke to Alex Zelenka / Invisibles a while back & he said he'd never work with Alice on her solo music & didn't seem keen on her to put it nicely & say the least lol. 😬 I'm just glad they're both still releasing music. It's what I love the most about them, their music, old & new, is still so inspiring, fresh, powerful & fiercely unique. Three cheers for alt electro, witch house, chip tune, leather, hoodies, art, strobe lights, punk & poetic lyricism. #CCfan4lyf
Alex Zelenka is a loser. He never "worked with her" in the first place, I'm sure. All he did was master their music. If "working with her" is using her name and image for publicity to circulate his mediocre remixes, then it's best that they probably don't work together. As if she would even want him to... Laughable.

Ugh. A bunch of Alice haters... Some of us like the duo, not just one of them. They're both talented. "Can't even sing" is a comment ignorant people make when they experience alt vocals. They assume singing is all Mariah Carey & Britney fucking Spears. I still like CC's new music & Alice solo. I actually prefer Alice's music.
Prefer this crystal castles era over anything.no Alice. Just Kaths more experimental earlier solo stuff. not downtalking Alice but I don't get people saying she made CC better I guess it's all just a matter of preference
I prefer them as Crystal Castles i.e Ethan's music, Alice's lyrics & vocals, *both* being experimental & talented. My fave CC album is (III) but their first studio album follows very closely behind. Their last release as a duo showed they'd refined their sounds, progressed & grown, artistically. They had more depth. It was more experimental than chip tune / arcade / videogame sounds. If you check Alice's lyrics, they're what's most unique about the duo imo. The music became more alt by the time (II) arrived. No more game boy sounds, they had songs like Violent Dreams, Year of Silence, Birds & Celestica. They incorporated themes of religion etc. Alice didn't just make CC better, she *made* CC. It's no coincidence their success happened around the same time she joined. Edith is just a less talented Alice clone who looks and acts just like her, whilst Alice is blossoming now she has the freedom to go full on crazy artist. She always had it in her, but both are talented.

Just look now at Alice's solo career. This dark emo pop/t.a.t.u alike songs with terrible playback on concerts is an art? It makes Edith "less talented copy of Alice"? I know many people are still Alice's fanboys, but pls it's ridiculous. I'll still listen to CC because of ETHANs music, and i don't care Alice is there or not, just like many Crystal castles fans.
