_ From the Absolute perspective this is so - although crudely put here.
_ From the relative perspective (i.e. human) it depends on what one believes, because belief/conditioning/conceptualizing manifests an apparent reality based on the beliefs/conditioning and concepts that are part and parcel of one's believed identity as body/mind/soul or whatever.

    • @highvibefreqzshow5967

      walt dutchak Beautifully stated!!!
I often hear people stating that belief iz inferior to knowing to which I ask them, how can we know anything if we don’t believe it exists or iz true?
People often regard belief as a concept belonging to religion and then begin to hate it and disassociate themselves from it and their shadow self assumes it.
We cannot get away from belief because it iz our beliefs that create our illusion of reality, the visible reality that comes from the invisible reality, that gives form to the formless.
They then come up with delusional statements such as “I will believe when I see it” and they think it’s delusional that when we believe it we will see it but that iz reality. Most of “humanity” iz insane but iz in the process of becoming sane.

    • @davidkuriakose2182
      @davidkuriakose2182 7 лет назад +4

Actualized.org there is no Hierarchy of needs. Even Maslow doesn't beleive this and never said this. Higher needs take priority over lower needs.

Pragmatically-speaking, there is a hierarchy. But of course you're not rigidly bound to it. You can choose to pursue creativity over food. But most people rarely do.

    • @BlackSkullHeart
      @BlackSkullHeart 7 лет назад +3

That’s not really true. He contradicts himself a lot and pretends to know what he is saying.
The thing is that most people know our minds deceive us, is called the brain and what we see is through our senses. But that’s not really relevant to life overall.
Not to mention if the mind is self deceptive then how can we trust anything he is saying?

    • @BlackSkullHeart
      @BlackSkullHeart 7 лет назад

SilentBOOM Actually questioning everything tends to lead to paralysis or a mental disfunction. You need to accept some things on faith to get anywhere.
If people really did question everything as they claim then Leo wouldn’t be making money off a self help program. Spirituality wouldn’t succeed at all. People would be going to science, the only branch of knowledge that doesn’t claim certainty..

    • @MohamedNadjmo
      @MohamedNadjmo 7 лет назад +3

SilentBOOM i agree with you my freind

    • @BlackSkullHeart
      @BlackSkullHeart 7 лет назад

SilentBOOM Actually getting crazy is the opposite of freeing your mind, assuming the mind can be free or that it exists.
It’s hard to take his word on anything after watching him butcher pyrrhonism. It was like watching someone apply it selectively against things he doesn’t agree with but not on himself.
He didn’t succeed in attacking materialism but reinforced it. When it comes to any claim or act, you have to accept something on faith before going anywhere. That applies to anything. Science seems to have worked better than the mystics on that front.

Another great video! Cant wait for the next part! Interestingly it took being suicidally depressed and feeling like I lost everything to really look inwards and figure out the true cause of all my suffering was my own mind. I looked super deep to the point where I was beggining to realizing my true nature beyond this world which initially made me feel even more depressed and isolated. Now I am radically open to learning and being a student for life and am open to knowing that everything I've ever known and believed is a lie but now it doesn't make me sad in the least bit and has actually pulled me in the direction of wanting to share value and contribute meaning in the ways I know how, which is though educating people about nutrition and mental health but from a holistic mind, body, spirit sort of approach...anyways thank you again for sharing! ;)

Probably true to some extend.. But any notion at all is perception, not reality as it is. You can close your eyes, think of your arms sensations and see it in your mind. Even though u do have an arm im assuming, wht u saw was nothing more than a notion. To identify as a God in human form will prevent enlightenment, because it assigns a self and deals with notions not reality as it is in front of u now. Enlightenment equals no self and full reality or being reality.

I've experienced mandala, but this is different. I feel as though I could literally die if I allow myself to let go. I believe it's a primal fear of death, and possibly just a barrier of fear itself that I must break through within myself, but that in itself is the problem. Have you ever experienced this barrier, and if so, how did you go about it?

    • @ActualizedOrg
      @ActualizedOrg  7 лет назад +32

Of course. You will literally die. That's enlightenment. Just what do you think meditation is for? It's suicide.
Don't worry. Ego death is the most beautiful thing. All your fears are just illusions.

Leo is speaking about very deep and high philosophy, he is getting more and more advanced soon no one will be able to understand him, i love leo's self-dedication and discipline in the journey of seeking truth, i realized that anyone who seek the truth for the sake of truth it self is the only who can get deep into this, if someone get into this to be 'enlightened' or happy or watever, they will give up pretty soon. this requires a crazy high amount of curiosity and passion . maybe next generations will listen to leo like we now listen to alan watts or terence mckenna, the sad truth is that these topics only interest small amount of people in this universe , most of them are intp, intj, infp, infj ,etc

You might as well say that thinking that reality is unified rather than fragmentary is in itself just a defense mechanism that allows you to quell the fear of death by deluding yourself into thinking that you're an inalienable part of the entire universe and are thus immortal in the sense that all of reality is immortal.

Thank you very much for this video. I have been following your work for a while now, at first just to gain more confident, but now it has come deeper than that.
The problem I had with other self-help books and talk is that the effect wears off really fast. It never sticks around. I guess because most of those are just superficial, kind of like curing the symptom rather than looking at the real issue.
Your videos are helping me realize a lot of things that I have struggled to figure out all by my own. Now with your help, it might become clearer on what I should do next.

When you have a hammer, everything looks like a nail.
The problem here is that we are trying to make sense of a phenomenon that we can't make sense of unless we take a side.
At some point in time, things that are here just were not here. Hence to be here, they had to emerge from what they are not.
We can call the process by which "old things" become "new things" several names.
We can call it change, we can call it transcendence, we can call it creation, we can call it deception, we can call it evolution, ...
Each metaphor making a different story of the process.
If we really want to be objective, we must admit that this process can't make sense of its own, and that we need to take a side.
So, one has to be careful using too lightly the words « fake », « true », « illusion », « deception », « selfish », "trick" and whatnot to make sense of intellectual explanations. For they are highly charged human metaphors and in the end, using them lightly can lead to even greater "illusions" and "deceptions".
By overcoming "deception", it somewhat seems that we uncovered some kind of veil. Whereas we just changed the veil.
A perception is what it is. Nothing more, nothing less. When you feel that you changed a perception. Well you did not. Because it is no longer the same perception. It's not that the perception itself changed. It is that you tell yourself that it changed :)
In a other words, it seems to me that "deception" as a process (the deception hammer) simply has practical value to negatively label your experience and make a change (destroy the deception with your deception hammer). If your experience doesn't require change to be actually positive, then you no longer need to call it "deception".

  • @zachwenzel5316
    @zachwenzel5316 7 лет назад

Leo, I've watched this video a number of times. It's filled with insights and resonates with me deeply. You've replied to me in the years past and I'm eternally grateful. I'm now 24 and have been self reflecting for about four years since my first "lightning strike" experience that literally caused me to collapse, seizure, and puke for hours on end after waking up from the seizure. Exactly as you said, giving me goosebumps hearing it. That initial experience was before I had ran into you, but shortly after diving deep into the works of Carl Jung and Alan watts and more. I've felt really stuck for months now. I've gone from a totally deceived individual, specifically from a born and raised Christian to an atheist / agnostic and beyond in a shockingly short period of time. My entire identity has been shattered again and again. I've dealt with derealization and depersonalization along this path, without help beyond books, guru's and RUclips. I'm stuck in the sense that I feel so disconnected and at odds with the world and people around me. I seem to have numbed myself on the emotional spectrum on both ends. I've experienced multiple lightening strike moments through psychedelics and meditation in the past year. I've voided the void many times. It just never seems to stick. I've given up measuring my progress and still continue the self reflection. I increasingly see the beauty and wonder of life and relality, but experiences of pain and joy are rare (both sides of the emotional spectrum). It's like I've given the show away, or spoiled the game of life for myself. At 24, being an American I feel alone and misunderstood / unknown by my friends, family and the society around me. I now lack motivation, purpose, and direction outside of my actualization work. I feel as though I can't move forward any longer because the world around me isn't moving forward with me. It use to be a source of great pain and suffering for me, but not anymore because of the realization of how little it matters in contrast to infinity / the absolute. I don't share any of this with anyone close to me for obvious reasons. I could go on and on, but do you have any advice to offer? I'm on meds for the seizures, the neurologists have confirmed that I don't have epilepsy. They are non epileptic psychogenic seizures. PNES is the acronym. They are baffled and have no answers for me. I ask that you look into the connections between this work and the physical / emotional stresses not to be taken lightly. For example the seizures, DP / Dr, etc. I've done a lot of research and there are many cases similar to my own throughout history when pursuing self actualization. I apologize for the rambling, it's to show that I'm serious about this work and to give you information that could help you with content creation on actualized.org. Thank you Leo.

    • @zachwenzel5316
      @zachwenzel5316 7 лет назад

I'd like to add a potential topic for actualized.org. Dreams. I dream vividly every night, I've dreamt lucid dreams in which I've felt the oceanic experience / the lightning strike and have woken up immediately into a seizure. That happened on one occasion, sent me to the hospital via ambulance. Incredible right? It's beyond me, just when I think I've experienced it all. It could be absolutely nothing at all, a neurological disorder maybe? Interesting nonetheless.

+Zach Wenzel It's hard to say. Your situation sounds unique so if I were you I would continue experimenting and learning, trying various techniques to see find what resonates.
Sounds like you might have had a gimpse of the Absolute, but might be interpreting it in the wrong way, or not seeing it completely.
Sounds like you might also have some trauma or shadow to work on. Or need some healing.
      Keep researching and troubleshooting it.

If a self-deception can get away in anything, and you ultimately can't beat your mind. Why trying?
Why are you pointing out to all those aspects of life saying that it's a self-deception?
Family is a self-deception? It is, it's constructed for you to live more safely, it's a mental construct. What do you gain with the knowledge of this fact? The sense of supperiorness to others that don't get it? What emotions are driving you to talk about these self-deception, what are you getting out of it?
If self-deception is just deepening and deepening, then do you assume that you're less self-deceptive then others? If no, why are you making 2-hour video of telling the world that it's self-deceptional.
I find it useful to know that I can be self-decepted. The fact that sometimes I'm self-deceptive gives me the freedom to see it in myself SOMETIMES. Do you want people to figure this out for themselves? Is this the point of your video?
Is self deception infinite? Is it possible to escape it?
A lot of questions hahah, but I wonder what do you think.
Please upvote this if you're curious in the same fashion.

Hey Leo, this was a great video bro... I totally agree with you. The mind is where the impersonal ego lives, that's why it's so important to live and speak from the heart of truth. The ego mind can lead you astray and deceive you, it can manipulate and self-sabotage you if you don't learn to live in alignment... I've learned that living in alignment allows you to truly trust yourself based on the heart of truth. The ego mind is so powerful it can make a person commit suicide or murder! You hit so many great points in this video, awesome stuff bro... peace... ✌

Self-Deception Part 1 (Derive your own notes. If you cannot trust yourself, how can you trust me? :D Enjoy!)
“The first principle is that you must not fool yourself. And you are the easiest person to fool.” -Richard Feynman
Self-deception covers its own tracks. - Daniel Goleman
    Descartes Meditation:
    - Descartes doubted everything
    - build a philosophy from what he can know
    - Cogito ergo sum (i think therefore i am)
The point here is that the one thing no philosopher takes seriously is that:
    - the mind is a self-deception machine
The most important doubt is the self-deception mechanism of mind.
    My mind = Evil demon
    Reality = self-deception within a self-deception within …
The most important doubt is that my mind has complete power over me.
I am prisoner of my mind.
The number one mistake in life is assuming that my mind can be trusted.
    Laws of epistemology:
    1. my mind is inherently self-deceptive
    - No assumption can be trusted
    - if I think something doesn’t need investigation that = self-deception
    - mind wants to construct reality without knowing it is constructing reality = self-deception
    2. I don’t need to worry about other people deceiving me.
    - The only way people can trick me is if I trick myself
    - my whole life is trickery and conspiracy theory
    3. self-deception goes beyond society, cultural, physical, and psychological
    - it is what i consider reality to be and goes beyond that
    - Ex. consider how easy it is for my mind to fool me
    - my mind holds all the power, sleep, sex drive, governs logic, emotions, experiences, beliefs, narrative, what i will debate, governs evidence, probabilities, governs what I consider real, concentrate, and imagination
Self-deception goes deeper than confirmation bias.
    Self-deception goes to existential level
Don’t underestimate the power of mind.
When I wanna investigate my mind, my mind can pull a switch to make me sleepy, enhance sex-drive, and controls memories.
Mind rationalizes and justifies and convinces itself of reasons for not looking at itself
Mind is the ultimate puppet master over me. The mind controls me, I don’t control my mind.
Can I trust my own mind?
    Can I deceive myself?
The problem is that my mind is viciously circular
How would I know if I am deceiving myself?
Imagine that the self-deception mechanism is more intelligent than me and was designed by God himself.
Self-deception is so total that there is nothing to compare it against
True skepticism = pointing out my own self-deception and others (skeptical of skepticism = meta-skepticism)
false skepticism = pointing out deception in others but not myself
Why does the mind deceive me?
    What if reality = perception
What if there is no objective reality
Consider the alternative that there is Nothing and that existence comes from deception.
How does God create the world?
    - God creates the world through self-deception
    Why does God deceive himself?
    - How does God come into being?
    - By tricking itself that it is the part, not the whole
Self-Deception becomes the mechanism of creation
Reality is deceiving itself in order to come into existence.
    The greatest self-deception is that:
    - I am real
    - I am important
    - I must survive
Without a self there is nothing to do, nothing to deceive, and nothing to care.
Descartes could doubt everything but couldn’t doubt the self.
People only like truth if it serves them.
Mind needs to distort truth, and flip truth and falsehood around
People lie to get what they want.
    Is there something beyond living?
Mind’s job is to keep the idea of ME alive.
    - The body is part of my idea of ME
Notice that most of the thing I love in life are self-deceptions:
    1. money and wealth
    2. ownership
    3. Laws and rights
    4. history
    5. security
    6. movies
    7. love
    8. porn
    9. time and language
    10. power and fame
    11. confidence
    12. science
    13. meaning
    14. purpose
    15. ideologies
    16. families
    17. nations
    18. corporations
    19. equality
    20. ranks
    21. status
    22. friendships
    23. videogames
    24. culture
    Ownership
    - Do I own my house? Do I own my dog? How does a piece of paper mean I own something?
    Security
    - Buying a lot of guns for safety and power. There is no such thing as security. We are all going to die. The more power you acquire the more insecure people are. Dictators are the most insecure.
    - Ex. Donald Trump - eats at Mcdonalds because he is afraid someone is going to poison his food.
    - Guns and power will not give you security
    Laws and Rights
    - they are invented. We have no rights. We convince ourselves that they are real
    Movies
    - They are all deception. They are pixels on a screen.
    Fame
    - what is fame? How does somebody have more value than others? What is value? Self-deception
    Confidence
    - I deceive myself that I will do good
    Family
    - What is family? Special connection between genetic DNA? No difference between my mom and a coffee table.
    Nations
    - The country and borders are imaginary
    Equality
    - There is no equality in reality. Fairness is self-deception for survival
Video games and everything in life is all about deepening the illusion
    Reality is a Magic trick
    - We want deception because if we were not fooled, reality would lose its magic
    Knowledge
    - conventional knowledge- what you learn in school
    - epistemology- knowledge of knowledge and how we acquire knowledge. Mind and society withouts self-realization
Society and culture is one collective self-deception
    Evidence of Self-deception:
    1. self-reflect and notice my rationalizations, manipulative behaviors, and self-deception.
    - Ex. You blame others for mistakes but not yourself - Car traffic
    2. People believe lots of crazy stuff
    - Ex. Billions are self-deceived, but I believe I am the exception
    - How am I deluding myself? Nobody asks this question.
    - Don’t worry about others self-deception. Worry about my own self-deception
    - Mind’s job is to get me to never self-reflect
    3. So much disagreement between people
    - Disagreement is everywhere
    - All debates are self-deception
    4. How humans treat evil
    - one nation believes another nation is evil. Both nations believe each other is evil and justify all attacks on each other
    - Where does evil come from? The human mind to advance its agenda
    - Evil = selfishness
    - Survival = evil
    - Everyone is called evil but me
    5. Every generation thinks its better than an old generation
    - all generations are self-deceiving themselves
Live life exactly the opposite of Donald Trump
Logic is the primary tool for self-deception
Why do I trust reason and logic?
How do I know logic is trustworthy?
    - Logic itself is based on faith
    Self-deception is a personal investigation
Self-deception makes us susceptible to suffering because the ego cannot handle the truth.
If I was fully honesty, I would completely collapse
Change entails a death of the self
What the mind hates the most is investigating its own self-deception
A good analogy is jailbreaking the mind
It is like trying to play chess against myself because I = my mind. I know all of my attempts to jailbreak
    Enlightenment does NOT remove self-deception
    Enlightenment does NOT cure problems
The mind will still be there after enlightenment
I am God that is tricking itself that is not God but that I am me.
    Atheist’s response:
    - If God exists and is all powerful and good? Could God create a stone that he cannot lift?
    - God is so powerful that he can deceive himself that he is God. God is tricking itself that I am a finite being.
    - That is what it means to be all powerful is that God can trick itself and can create such a stone!
    Liberation = end of self-deception
Suffering is a consequence of self-deception
No one is immune to self-deception
Self-deception = a mine field with millions of mines
If I knew all of reality it would lose its magic
Make self-reflection one of my primary goals. All knowledge, learning and understand will not be clear if everything is filtered through my ego. The ego is the mud on the mirror. Wipe away all identities, beliefs, and egoism till the mirror is clear is when I will see my true self. Self-reflection seems to me to be all about looking at reality through this clear mirror.

If you can self-deceive yourself with purpose to achieve goals that align with society's and your own values then more power to you.
