One of the main reasons I got into playing destruction warlock was I was tanking this one dungeon way back when I first started playing and there was a destro lock in the party. And what impressed me was this massive carpet of flames headed towards the mobs. That mass of flame was incinerate. That puny wimpy thing is gonna make me want some Viagra to make me feel powerful again
My issue with chaos bolt though is that after you finish casting it already immediately has a tail which starts behind your character. That just looks crappy. You throw it from your hand. The tail should come behind it starting from your hand.
They made it too big. That's why, becuz' ppl bitched about it being underwhelming .. jeez, now it looks weird when projektiled (the moment it is shot off).
i think chaos bolt should be like 1yard away from the character.. in this footage it basicly spawns in you while its "tail" is even behind the caster for a short time. the fire still doesnt look like fire, but it's HD now, so i'll shut my mouth.. and finally.. i didnt know i needed this in my life, but man, that new summoning coffin looks awesome

Give them a flashy and heavy movement so it actually will look like a character who's body is flowing with fel magic and not someone who looks like he is thinking on if he turned off the oven at home while casting a Chaos Bolt...

destro locks still dont have a combat stance like frost mages or resto druid(for example) do. i've been maining a destro lock for years, and its still the same. If they've made it for them, it isnt in the game yet(i remember hearing about new animations for locks on the wowhead dressing room.) Demo has some new casting animations for Hand of Gul Dan and Demonbolt but thats about it.
Except for Soul Fire, I'm not a fan of the new fire effects around the hands. The old ones had more of a kindling feel going on, while the new ones look a bit too heavy with the spell effects. They appear to look like a glob of magic, rather than a person kindling fire from their hands. Perhaps the chaos bolt launch could have its tail toned down slightly, so it doesn't have the tail appear behind the caster. Having the tail start later would make it seem as though it appeared as it moves away from them. Incinerates travel animation looks great; however, perhaps lessen the spell effects or make them sharper to create the look of fire being made?

Nope, you are wrong. Chaos Bolt, as the main example-- is not simply an enhanced version of the original. They have completely changed it to look like a massive ball of green and black paint, instead of the classic demonic like skull which arcs in a very unique way as it travels.
That chaos bolt looks so bad now, really underwhelming. one of the things that made the spell one of the best in game was how awesome and scary it looked when you cast it. Now it looks like a generic spell
idk I don´t think people should be surprised when the old gets totally changed instead of only upgraded, which is the case. it misses the iconic dragon head (which i can live without) and the arch (add it back PLS)
Jade Tlaloc exactly! That arc was so cool, first time I saw a warlock casting it back in MoP gave me shills down my spine and convinced me to roll a destro lock that I still play as of today!
Not gonna lie, I prefer the older chaos bolt over the new one. Throwing a freaking DRAGON at the enemy seems so much cooler than a recolored fireball, particle effects be damned. Drain life's kinda meh now too, I dunno why we're pulling shadows out of enemies instead of life energy. Infernal and Soul well also have more interesting summon effects, falling from the sky and sending chunks of rocks flying vs. Phasing in and appearing in a gout of fire.
How did I know that a list of complaints was gonna be one of the first things here. There can never be changes/updates to this game without people whining.
I know it's just for demonstrations and to show new updates.. but why do these guys at WoWhead do it with the most boring race and class combinations? I mean the majority of the videos is Human/Blood Elf Paladin and Human - X Class-..... Spice it up a bit more otherwise the videos get boring....

Blizz's favorite class to do designs for. If half the imagination that went into Warlocks went into Arcane mages, they would look insane.

I see it as the purple is the soul/life force you are draining from them. Converting it to life for yourself towards the end.
