Excited to watch this video. Great to see these views again from my 2016 UK holiday in the Peak District. We did a day hike up to Lord's Seat. We had a beautiful day as you. Thank you for posting!
Mary, I am so behind in my viewing and just today watched the episode where you recommended the Repair Shop! We are watching our first episode right now! Thankyou,Thankyou,Thankyou! We are true anglophiles and this is right up our alley....
It's Mary on a trail ¡!!!! 😃. Soo, sooo good to c u out with ur pack !! I c from how u put ur pack on that some things become instinctual habit ! 😉 Not sure how far from home u 2 went but it was seriously beautiful !!! on the first ridge that I saw I couldn't help but expect to c a row of wind mills for electric power.... Kinda reminded me of that section of the PCT...... when it's really green out......😋 . It certainly seemed like a good spot for them there because it was pretty windy. And thank you for not wearing the buff so that we can watch you tucking your hair back 😅😃👍🏼👍🏼 lol. ( Old Dayz stuff 🤗 ) Ur choice of music was spot on Mary !!! As usual, an excellent job !! Derek, thanks for helping with the video wrk !! This way Tinkerbell didn't have to run back to get the camera !!!! It was nice to c u out also !!!! And help warm up the tent. It's amazing how much one more body can change the comfort in a tent when windy and cold. being in a low depression where the cold settles it really does help 😃. BTW, is it a coincidence that your pack just happens to be the right color lol !!! Mary the bread 🍞 looked really good. A nice side to a cup of coffee 😊 would u b willing to share ur recipe ??????? The steps over the walls brings back memories of time spent on summer breaks from school in Europe. But never got to c ur neck of the woods. Beautiful, just beautiful. Was the " cave " open to exploring ??? I'm glad some trolls didn't come out of the cave and come and visit your tent that night lol 😅😂🤣😃 thank u Mary for going out for those of us who miss you being on trail !!!!! after all ,we spent a lot of time with you out there, and, it's how we've come to know you !!!! And yes we love what you've done to keep your channel going. And even though you're incredibly creative, it must, at times, b a challenge. We/ I thank you !!!!! Please share w/us some of the pics you 2 got from this trip, of 🌞 sets n rises. Video and pics r not always the same. As always Mary, peace, and keep on rocking the free world ☺️
Thank you so very much Traky Boy - your comments always make me smile 😁 Yes Derek did help with the filming to avoid the extra running about - I had to include his epic twerking at the end which let me say happened more than once 🤣 The banana bread recipe is as follows; Ingredients 3 mashed bananas 45ml lemon juice 150 ml vegetable oil 60ml oat milk (or any plant based milk) 2 tsp vanilla extract 280g plain flour 1½ tsp baking powder ¾ tsp baking soda ¼ tsp salt 1 tsp ground cinnamon ½ tsp ground nutmeg 150g chocolate chips ((Optional: 150g light brown sugar - I made mine sugar free, but it does taste a lot better with sugar)) Method *Pre-heat the oven to 180ºC (355 ºF) and line loaf tin with baking paper. *Mix together the mashed bananas, lemon juice, vegetable oil, vanilla extract and non-dairy milk (and light brown sugar if using). *Sift in the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon & nutmeg and stir until you get a smooth batter. *Add the chocolate chips and mix. *Pour into the lined loaf tin and bake in the pre-heated oven at 180ºC for about 1 hour - 1hour 15 minutes and an inserted skewer comes out clean. *I carefully cover it in aluminium foil after 45mins so it doesn't over brown. *Once ready, just cool in the tin for 10 minutes, then take it out of the tin and put it on a wire cooling rack until fully cool. *I find it lasts in an airtight container for about 5 days.
@@MarysOutdoorAdventures wow, I honestly didn't think you'd ACTUALLY send me the recipe !!!! 😋🤗 Thanks so much 😊 can't wait to try it out !!!! Banana nut bread and Zucchini bread r big favorites of mine !!! As I type this ur new vlog popped up 😃👍🏽 Guna b a great day 😀😁 PS.,. What is twerking? Not familiar with the lingo 🤔🙂
Goooooddd Affffftttteerrrnooon😁 great to see you getting your boots and kit on to go out into the wilds🏕 you looked so happy 😊 doing that. Then the sounds of the 👣 trail. Great job with music and shots. I did 10 miles yesterday on the PCT near Tehachapi. My brother lives there. Just to get out there. Great to see you out there
I agree. Very nice to see Tinkerbell out and about on trail !!!! U r right !! The shot of putting on her boots WAS a nice touch !! Peace amigo, and keep on rocking the free world ☺️
Thank you so much Paul, I'm so glad you enjoyed it! I'm experimenting a little more with filming and editing...always learning🤣 I loved that area you hiked it - I bet your weather was a lot nicer!
Mary yes the hike was hot. But this year the summer has been cooler than normal 😎 well cooler like only 30's not 40's lol. We also didn't have a heavy winter this year either. Less ❄ snow, and would have been a good year on the PCT. But, and that's a Big Butt 🙋♂️😷😷 that stupid Covid 19 virus. I so want to be up there along a stream, with the smell of the pine trees and the krisp mountain ⛰ air. Keep safe and we miss you Here
Just found you channel when looking at reviews for the Big Agnes. If there is a happier/smiler wild camper out there, I'm yet to find them. Wonderfully refreshing to hear the sheer joy of being outside. Wonderufl
Wow! We get to see you driving. The animals still love to follow you. I really like the song that you are playing. Who is singing? Such beautiful scenery! What a wonderful hike and looks like loads of fun. The morning shadow exercise is hilarious. Thanks for sharing. Blessings and safe hiking adventures.
Thanks so much Vickie, yes I still seem to always find animals following me wherever I go 🤣 The two songs with lyrics, were 'Honey Take My Hand' and 'Weather Any Storm' and the instrumental was 'Rose in the Garden' - all by Cody Francis.
Tinkerbell, if you use a Ziploc freezer bag, you can actually just pour the hot water into the bag. One less pot to clean. Additionally you can get a cozy for the freezer bag and keep the heat in. Obviously there are pros and cons so do a little research but I do recommend it. What a lovely trip. I would love to see some of the photos inserted into the video.
Yes I have certainly done that in the past! Those bags I had were of the cheaper variety and therefore do not recommend that technique, but on longer trips I have certainly done that method - it also saves carrying extra bowls 😁 I'll add more photos in next time to videos, thanks for the ides. The thumbnail and subscribe screen were both a photo I took there, I will add some to facebook/instagram this week too.

This video was 'recommended'!! And I really enjoyed it. More so as I know exactly where you were walking and camping. It's called Windy Knoll. I was stood in that spot 4 days ago and I too found that cave!! I live in castleton and was surprised I'd never found the cave before. Just as a side note I have an old map detailing bones found where you camped belonging to Reindeer, Bison and Grisly Bear!
Beautiful area and gorgeous sunrise, Tinkerbell! Good thing you didn't need iceaxe and micro-spikes LOL Good to see you backpacking again 💖 Grass: Ouch!!! That hot cup she put on me!!!!!😁
So great to see you on the trail again Mary (Tinkerbell). I followed all your PCT videos. Always thought you and "Feathers" were the two most cheery folks on the trail. And, you have the great accent. Since I live in Oregon (Eugene), I always hoped you would be able to finish your hike since you chose to end your hike in Oregon - late in the season. And, you did it! Congratulations on that! I am hoping to get out hiking for a two nighter with a brother and cousin in August. We plan to be NoBo on the PCT for about "6" whole miles (ha ha) and then go off trail (up hill of course) and camp by a couple small lakes in the Three Sisters Wilderness. We will start at the Irish/Taylor Trailhead - northeast of Waldo Lake. Some day, my wife and I would love to visit the UK and see the sights. Keep on hiking and smiling.......
Thank you so much for such a wonderful comment Donald, it’s so kind of you to say so. I hope you have a wonderful time, it is such a wonderful area. It was so cold when I went through that area I bet it is lovely at this time of year!
@@MarysOutdoorAdventures You are most welcome Mary. Love the music you put with this video. Lately, the Three Sisters Wilderness area has been in the 40s or 50s (F) at night and the 70s or 80s in the day. "No snow" for sure! Main worry might be some thunderstorms with lightening...and possible forest fires. I hope not. Hike on and stay safe.....
Wow, what a visual and audio feast this video is! I really like the choice of soundtrack songs -- very uplifting and relaxing at the same time. And the scenery was sumptuous. What are the rules for "wild camping" in England? Do you have to be in a specially designated area or park? I know there are national parks and "areas of outstanding natural beauty" there, but do you need additional permits to camp there? Also, I think the rules differ from Scotland's (and perhaps from those in Wales, as well). I've often thought of combining a strip to the UK with some hiking, but I don't know how feasible it would be to backpack.
Hi John, I too often wonder about the " local verbage " .. I think I get it ... But a " Mary's dictionary " would be nice. At first my thought was they were doing one on the sly... But that just doesn't fit. I'm quite sure Mary would want to do it " quite proper " lol 😅🤗 Keep on rocking the free world ☺️ my friend !!
Thank you so very much John! The rules for wild camping in England is that it’s not officially legal, only in Scotland you can officially wild camp. I have been doing a lot of research on wild camping though as so many people now do it and there are so many youtubers vlogging them. It is legal if you obtain permission from the land owner, but it is very difficult sometimes to get hold of someone to seek permission. A lot of landowners are open to the idea as long as you respect the land and behave yourself. There is a common practice which I wasn't aware of, it does appear to be tolerated in certain areas. Obviously there is a lot of common sense involved and respect for the land and areas. Doing things like not setting up camp until just before dark, leaving early, being discreet, not setting up near the trails or public areas and buildings, and of course leave absolutely no trace. It seems it is tolerated because everyone that does it abides by these principles and so far seems to not cause any problems. If a land owner was to come along at night and want you gone, then as far as I have researched, you would not be prosecuted for a criminal offence as long as you apologised and quietly moved on your way leaving no trace. From what I understand it would only be a problem if you left any mess, caused a disturbance or became violent or abusive. I hope this helps answer your question? I did see a few videos about the matter which explains it better than me - but where possible if you are worried then gain permission or find an official campsite.
@@MarysOutdoorAdventures Hi mary Legal on Dartmoor and the Lake District in designated areas. In England it is tolerated/ignored if discrete above Intake walls. Basically, don't make yourself visible to landowners/managers - the land is their liveliehood - don't flatten the crops or scare the livestock. Large groups, fires etc. are going to create problems for those who come later. 'Wild camping' = Glastonbury, Leeds, Reading... 'Quiet camping' is what we do!
Miss your hiking videos! When this whole pandemic is over you should do another thru hike. If you complete the other two major thru hikes in the US you could be a triple crowner! The Appalachian trail is very green and lots of water and the Continental Divide trail has breathtaking Mountain View’s!
Hi ya Tammi, Totally agree !!!! We could have Tinkerbell out here twice !!!! AND, just think of all the vids !!! Plus now she has that fancy remote mic so she could do alot with that set up !!!! Oooh, and then there's the " GOOOOD MORNING'S "..... WELL, HERE'S TO WISHES..... Peace, and keep on rocking the free world ☺️
Thanks so much! It would be great, but so expensive to do with being from the UK. I am doing a thru-hike soon here in the UK though, but not quite as long as the PCT 😁
Mam Tor or Mother Hill or Shivering Mountain 517 meters lotta "land slips" due to unstable lower layers of shale nice to see the two of you out and about And you didn't check out the cave it could have been a robbers hideout from the old days where they hid their ill gotten gains like gold 🤪
Really wonderful video! Would you be willing to share your banana bread recipe? My little vegan hiker and I have another backpacking trip in a couple of weeks and she would love some for breakfast.
Thanks so much On the trail with G! And I am always happy to share a vegan recipe 🌱 I made mine without sugar - but it does taste better with it 😁 Ingredients 3 mashed bananas 45ml lemon juice 150 ml vegetable oil 60ml oat milk (or any plant based milk) 2 tsp vanilla extract 280g plain flour 1½ tsp baking powder ¾ tsp baking soda ¼ tsp salt 1 tsp ground cinnamon ½ tsp ground nutmeg 150g chocolate chips ((Optional: 150g light brown sugar - I made mine sugar free, but it does taste a lot better with sugar)) Method *Pre-heat the oven to 180ºC (355 ºF) and line loaf tin with baking paper.

Hi, where did you come from to get the shots from the top of Winnets pass? Great video, visited Mam Tor/Castleton and Winnets pass and considering camping here.
Thanks so much Chris! You need permission from land owners as its not officially legal to wild camp in England without it. Yes the sheep were certainly entertaining!
Hello😊 I'm new to travelling and walks/hikes but I'm about to start. I wanted to ask, what do you do for the toilet when you're out there? That's my only anxiety and worry. Sorry for the random question, i just wonder what everyone does. Thank you for showing your travels, I've watched a few and its enjoyable
I find a spot that's hidden like behind a bush or somewhere out of sight and squat. I carry a little bag to put in the used tissue so I don't leave it behind. If it is a number 2 I dig a 'cat hole' about 8 inches deep and away from water with a little trowel I carry and then cover it over properly afterwards. Please feel free to ask anything you are not sure of and I'll always help where I can x
Hi Mary, I've done the coast to coast trail in England staying in B&B's. I loved that trip, and would like to go back and do more hiking in England. I'm new to backpacking, but would like to do some backpacking in the UK. Are there any 1-2 week long beginner backpacking trips you'd recommend? I'd really prefer to avoid driving as well. Are there shuttle drivers in England like there are in the US? For the coast to coast, we used a company to shuttle our luggage, but we were able to take a train to the start of the hike and from the end of the hike back to the airport.
I have only done two backpacking trips in the UK so far, so I am not yet fully familiar with the different trails. I know there are shuttle drivers that can assist from what I have heard from other hikers although I haven't used them myself. I'm not sure if you are on Facebook but there are few good groups on it such as UKHiking or LDWA who would know a lot more than me!
Officially you are supposed to obtain permission, but if you can't it seems to be tolerated as long as you are discreet, set up late, leave early and leave no trace etc. I parked in a lay-by on Sheffield road between Chapel-en-le-Frith & Mam Tor.
So great to see you with your pack on again! Beautiful scenery that reminds me a little of our California hills in Spring. Inspired by you I have just started my own channel and uploaded my first video (I'm learning) . I'd be so honored if you'd subscribe. I'm hoping for the PCT next year. 🤷♀️

2 tsp vanilla extract
280g plain flour
1½ tsp baking powder

*Sift in the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon & nutmeg and stir until you get a smooth batter.

🤣😂🤣😂 That last bit! 🤣😂🤣😂
I know, he should have his own channel 🤣😂
🤣👍👍
Great video keep them coming oh yeahhhh atb The Mooster👍😎
Will do! Thanks so much 😁
Looks amazing!
It was!
Hi John,
I too often wonder about the " local verbage " .. I think I get it ... But a " Mary's dictionary " would be nice. At first my thought was they were doing one on the sly... But that just doesn't fit.
I'm quite sure Mary would want to do it " quite proper " lol 😅🤗
Keep on rocking the free world ☺️ my friend !!
@@MarysOutdoorAdventures Hi mary
Legal on Dartmoor and the Lake District in designated areas.
Hi ya Tammi,
Totally agree !!!!
Peace, and keep on rocking the free world ☺️
Yeahh! Let's help her with resupply.
Thanks so much! It would be great, but so expensive to do with being from the UK. I am doing a thru-hike soon here in the UK though, but not quite as long as the PCT 😁
I’ve missed that ‘Goooooood Morning’........👍🏻
10-4 friend !!!!!!
We hear ya !!😁
So keep on rocking the free world ☺️
😁
Really enjoyed this video
Glad you enjoyed it Patty!
Did you find out what the chick was? I think the caterpillar was a Peacock butterfly caterpillar. Great vid!
I am pretty sure it was a skylark chic - it was so cute. Thanks for the caterpillar information too!
Can you bottle and sell your enthusiasm? It's so refreshing, even more so in 2020 :)
Thank you so much 😁
Perfect.
Thank you Gary 😊
Mam Tor or Mother Hill or Shivering Mountain 517 meters lotta "land slips" due to unstable lower layers of shale nice to see the two of you out and about And you didn't check out the cave it could have been a robbers hideout from the old days where they hid their ill gotten gains like gold 🤪
Thank you! Yes the cave looked a little too infested with spider webs for my liking 😂
Really wonderful video! Would you be willing to share your banana bread recipe? My little vegan hiker and I have another backpacking trip in a couple of weeks and she would love some for breakfast.
Thanks so much On the trail with G! And I am always happy to share a vegan recipe 🌱 I made mine without sugar - but it does taste better with it 😁
Ingredients
3 mashed bananas
45ml lemon juice
150 ml vegetable oil
60ml oat milk (or any plant based milk)
2 tsp vanilla extract
280g plain flour
1½ tsp baking powder
¾ tsp baking soda
¼ tsp salt
1 tsp ground cinnamon
½ tsp ground nutmeg
150g chocolate chips
((Optional: 150g light brown sugar - I made mine sugar free, but it does taste a lot better with sugar))
Method
*Pre-heat the oven to 180ºC (355 ºF) and line loaf tin with baking paper.
@@MarysOutdoorAdventures Oh thank you sooo much! I am enjoying your pct videos so much right now and your wonderful photography! It just made week to get a reply from you. My daughter and I will definitely be making this for our next backpacking adventure!
@@cynthialorentz9925 You are more than welcome, I hope you enjoy it!
Hi, where did you come from to get the shots from the top of Winnets pass? Great video, visited Mam Tor/Castleton and Winnets pass and considering camping here.
At 4:24 I like to believe she snug up behind Derek and put her hand gently in his.
Y Kimberly, u ol'e romantic u !! 😃😂👍🏼😉
@@trakyboy5128 Very much so 😊🌈
We did have a little cuddle after I finished panning round ☺️

Great to see you out again! Do you need any permits? Is it public lands? Love all the sheep too.
@@MarysOutdoorAdventures thank you so much for replying. Do you use normal toilet roll and a bin/carrier bag or anything biodegradable?
Have you done the edale skyline route?
I didn't know about it so have just researched it - that's another day hike added to the list 😁
Hi we are planning on going there this weekend and wanted to know where did u park the car and do we have to get permission to camp there?
Officially you are supposed to obtain permission, but if you can't it seems to be tolerated as long as you are discreet, set up late, leave early and leave no trace etc. I parked in a lay-by on Sheffield road between Chapel-en-le-Frith & Mam Tor.
@@MarysOutdoorAdventures OK thank you
Was it all ok where you parked your car for the night, I want to go wild camping am just struggling to where to park
💖
I was here first😛
So great to see you with your pack on again! Beautiful scenery that reminds me a little of our California hills in Spring. Inspired by you I have just started my own channel and uploaded my first video (I'm learning) . I'd be so honored if you'd subscribe. I'm hoping for the PCT next year. 🤷♀️
That is so great to hear and well done!
