This is a fantastic idea and well executed. I do wonder if caulk is going to be enough over time. If it does have issues with that, fish tank silicone adhesive may prove to be a better long term solution.

I wonder the same myself. I will keep an eye on it after some good use and will do a follow up video if I have any problems with it. This area doesn't see much water really so I'm thinking it will be just fine. The silicone I used is supposedly good for 10 years if applied properly. I have high hopes :) I appreciate your input!

Great video, was looking at one of those kits recently as an option. Company here sells a kit for $300 that has a piece which will still let you use it as a tub.

I’m going to ask my ex to do this for my bathtub. (We’re still friends.😊)

Are you preparing for old age bruce?😊 Hope someone in the family's not injured . Just wondering why you needed to do this.

15k estimate? yeah, that sounds more like they just didn't want your business.

Ya know what bugs me. Is you wanted some contractors time getting a estimate when you KNOW dang wel you were not going to hire him/her. Wasting peoples time=money. That's why so many are charging for estimates now.

You are making an INCORRECT assumption. We had every intention of hiring the company that gave the estimate until we heard the price they were charging. Had it been a REASONABLE estimate they likely would have had the job. The overinflated price we were quoted is what prompted us to look at alternative solutions and thus the process you see in the video. I have never heard of a company like this charging for an estimate and if they did, they wouldn't be getting my business. You shouldn't let it bug you especially based on an incorrect assumption.

I certainly understand where you're coming from. There are a lot of tire kickers out there, but just the same, business must be so good for some of these contractors that they can afford to overcharge. It's like if they can't screw you, they don't want your business. It's turning a lot of people into do-it-yourselfers
