For many racing was a family affair the Membrinos, the Alkas Brothers, the Burndts, just to name a few.

Hi Tom! - I hope you get this message, I used to live close to the Stadium, we were there many times in the mid 1970s. I was only 14 - 15 years old, and we kids thought it would always be there. We had no idea it would ever be shut down, it was great fun. Thank you so much for your video! I hadn't seen the place since it closed, and it was great to see it again!

How that brings back memories! Bob Miculak was a friend of mine as well as many of the drivers there. I worked on Warren Lee's car for years. I remember Bob Mikulak driving Spuds car the blue number 1 Coupe. I ended up building a car finally and drove in what was called the novice class at that particular track. It's what we would refer to as as street stocks now. I loved Plainville Stadium I miss it everyday.
Unfortunately the world doesn't have enough damn parking lots so that's what became of that great old track

Oh how I loved going to the races there! My favorite driver was LiL Dan Goudiosi driving the pink & white #44.
What a crying shame we lost this track to stinking retail stores.

I watched many races in Plainville as a teenager. Don Moon and his Thunderbolt 9 was my favorite. I still go to the local track, but now it's the North Central Arkansas Speedway (dirt track).

Tom, I grew up on Wooster St. in New Britain, a few houses up the hill from the Ormsby's. Was that your family?

I remember 00 "Jap" Membrino was so fast, they would have to put him as the last car, and he could still work his way up to the front and win. If the wind was right, we could hear the races from our house in Forestville 3 miles away.

Does anyone remember Jimmy Smith. He drove car 85 and was a frequent winner of races in the late '60's.

New Neighbors KNEW they were moving near a racetrack. Built Houses and Moved in anyways. Complained! Complained! Complained! Raped a huge part of many's Lives forever. Plainville (Hence the name Plain) has an local ordinance banning racetracks in view of this. A local Hobby store had to go to town hall cause he had a lousy RC Car Track in his store. People ruined Concerts at Lake Compounce the same way. It's common sense where you put your lousy home. Is where you put your seniority on back burner. All of this should of fell into grandfathered laws. (Which they DID) But. . .
