Hey guys hope you enjoyed this video! Hospitals can be bizarre places at night but it’s an essential part of healthcare. People don’t stop getting sick after 12am! I really enjoy sharing my life as a doctor and would love for you to be a part of it - make sure you *SUBSCRIBE* to see more! Until the next one 😊
Being a nightshift doc with the nocturnal hours must be difficult, but love that the sense of camaraderie gets stronger as your team work together through the night 💪💪
The comfort of hearing you say all this🙏🏾also a junior ED doctor in South Africa and man it gets wild and the night shifts😭😭The morning after just feels like a resurrection of some sort😅
I'm sitting for my plab1 exam in 2 weeks , hopefully I pass & get closer to becoming an ER dr. In the UK . This was a helpful boost of energy . Thank you & pray for me 😭!
Love how positive you are with your night shift. Thank you for your video. I just got off of a two week night shift schedule and gosh I hated it or maybe I am burnt out.
@@mattbklee the transition is always the hardest. I usually tire myself out the day before I’m supposed to return to day shifts so that I get a good night sleep. I stick to a schedule the first week. No caffeine, no alcohol. Just exercise and loads of water.
@@mattbklee yay! I hope you enjoy the rest of your time there. My F2 job in Emergency Medicine completely changed my career plans because I loved it so much!
Loved this video so so much Dr Matts...keep doing these vlogs, they are amazing!!! And the view in the morning outside the hospital is so beautiful!!!😍
That the biggest thing I find amazing is how Doctors, Nurses, HCA's ( Auxiliary nurses) porters etc cope with the shifts changes. When they do a 13 hr shift and extra hour is for hand over. I find the 1hr when the clocks change tough enough. If you are at a Doctors is anything to say to get the best out of the visit ?
Thanks Robert, it’s certainly challenging but all part of the job! I suppose when seeing your GP many of them are stressed with limited consultation times. The kindest thing you can do is to be understanding if they come across as a little tired!
Hallo sir, I'm a biomedical engineering student and I wish to know that, if you ever think about the implementation of a new technology which will ultimately helps you in your treatment procedures or make the procedures faster. Do you think, there is a need to implement new technologies in the prevailing conventional medical processes? If any please do mention. Thank you
Hello Dr, What is the pay of a junior clinical fellow doctor. I have been working in the casualty department of a government hospital in India as a medical officer for 7 years. At what level I can get a job in NHS. Designation? FY2 or CT1 ? I want to know the Pay Scale.
Interesting to see what happens on night shifts! Great video! Hope you guys are well rested! Do you guys experience burnout? I heard the burnout rate is pretty high.
Thanks Amber! I think on busy stretches I can feel a little tired and I try to move my focus away from medicine for a bit when it happens. Burnout is certainly something that's happening more and more especially because of Covid so we all need to be looking after each other 😊
Hi Doc!may i ask?If you're giving cpr to the patient who is not breathing or doesn't have a pulse, will the patients IV still flow or stop? thank you so much in advance♥️
The worst field to choose as the medical system everywhere needs major changes, being a doctor myself would never suggest anyone to choose this field, Instagram n RUclips is always mesmerising, dark sides need to be shown before someone chooses it ✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️
if you are working in ED by age of 45 you will have the following DM HTN Metabolic syndrome Anxiety Poliosis +/- Alopecia Social and family issues then smoking and binge drinking then dying earlier 😅😂

did you take the USMLE?
This is perfection! God bless you always, Matt!
Thank you so much for your kind words 😊
Felt your exhaustion throughout the vlog. Take care of yourself! Anyway, great video as always, Matt! Keep em coming!
Thank you so much! It was my first nightshift in a long set of shifts which I always feel a little less rested on. Glad you enjoyed it! 😊
You're amazing. Thank you for making these videos!!!!
Love how positive you are with your night shift.
Thank you for your video.
I just got off of a two week night shift schedule and gosh I hated it or maybe I am burnt out.
It can be really exhausting shifting back and forth! Hope you're recovering okay, it certainly takes me a good while to get back to normal

So happy to hear you're enjoying Emergency Medicine! I totally get what you mean about your body clock being all over the place as well 🤪
Thanks Sarah, I've loved it to the extent that I'm now genuinely considering ACCS over IMT! Definitely takes me a few days to get back to normal 😅

Thanks man appreciate it 😎 love a good lofi session
Amazing video as usual! I like how even though there may be less support at night, the sense of camaraderie strengthens. Keep up the good work!
Thanks man I appreciate it! Definitely agree, it's joint team effort surviving a night shift 😅
This and the last vid was so entertaining and useful thanks for your effort.
Thank you, so glad you enjoyed the two videos! Hope to make more that you’ll find interesting so feel free to let me know if you have any feedback 😊

Do you only work 10 hours on night shifts? 😳 I work 12 hour night shifts as standard as a HCA.
I used to work there! :) as a nurse
ahh . I want to be an EM Doctor. Treating acutely ill patients are quite satisfying , disregarding the congestion of the ER .
It's incredibly interesting and rewarding. Lots of great learning opportunities for junior doctors :)

I alway love night duties... EMERGENCY MEDICINE, Paediatric and Labour but i should not be completely alone for the duty.
What’s the role where you are a doctor but on the frontline like on ambulances and stuff
Paramedic
How many night shifts a junior doctor will have in a week?
OMG, im a doctor too, but in my job (emergency) in my night shift i have minimun 1 pacient for hour... i need to work in london =)
If you’re not sure what to do as the junior doctor, who can you talk to? The consultant?
Did you find the answer to that? 😮
How old are you? I’m thinking of going into medicine and wanna know the usual age range of junior doctors!
Hi may I know are u working at at. Bartholomew hospital?
I’m sorry I can’t watch the show as the sound keeps breaking in and out and I can’t hear you very well
Sir also make vlogs about life in london and some travel vlogs!
I will do! Especially once the city opens up after lockdown :)
Which hospital were you working in?
My fab hospital St Thomas's
nice video! On an average how many patients do you see during your night shifts? approx
Thank you! It certainly depends, can be anywhere between 5 to 15 depending on how busy it is and which area we are working
Nice video bro, keep up the hard work, let me know if you are in your FY ? can you share some more information about it?
Thank you 😊 Yes I’m in my FY2 year! Anything in particular you wanted to know about it?
