- This is a series of mostly local clips that was aired on WDIV in Detroit on Monday, April 8, 1985. WDIV was and is Detroit's local NBC affiliate. Originally aired during the movie "Wallenberg" there are several News 4 Tonight promos and some local commercials.
Here, anchor Carmen Harlan highlights the Detroit Tigers' home opener, Channel 4 wishes a Happy Passover, and commercials for Kroger and WJOI radio.
Some NBC promos included here for "Gimme A Break," "Under One Roof" "Hunter," and the Gary Coleman movie "Playing with Fire"
Gary Coleman was a much more versatile actor than given credit for. RIP
God, I miss WJOI... the beautiful music format was so warm, relaxing and comforting to me when I was a kid. "The Soft Touch of Joy" was the last beautiful music station in Detroit and as such was hugely successful in the ratings around this time (even made it to #1 in at least one ratings book). Of course it's doing spectacularly now as The Ticket, but it would give me great Joy to see WJOI come back (never gonna happen though). Now that Smooth Jazz is gone, Detroit radio has nothing like it.
"Hunter" and "Miami Vice" were in their rookie seasons.

About the Donahue promo, I know why it moved to Channel 7 the following year is that about the ratings were low when WDIV had it.

I remember that WJOI jingle very well, and the Christmas Festival of Music as well. What can I say, I'm 30 years old and I still love easy listening music.
1.69 for milk, i only paid 30 cents more last week at Kroger
