Having to adapt to new culture in short amount of time, losing a father, mentor and being an only child early in iife. That's tough! They say if it doesn't kill you, it makes you stronger. You can also tell Jay and his American father in law have a special bonding. Not all American husbands lived to their expectations after married. I know because I lived in the US for 45 yrs and have some American friends. I'm originally from Laos but immigrated to the states in 1979.

Lao Toufu you can use the chopstick and spoon at the same time while eating noodles or any other food. "Scoop" the noodles/food on the spoon using chopstick and eat from the spoon. Most of us in Singapore do it this way, when I visied China I was doing the same way, I think it is totally acceptable.
Those are walnuts. Usually they have brownish color but those ones looked boiled or mixed in soup or sauce. I visited Shanghai 5 months ago, kinda missed it. Impressive subway system and malls. I don't enjoy the long flight to go there though
