- In this Physics video in Hindi for class 11 we explained Hooke's Law from the chapter 'Mechanical Properties of Solids'. It states that the stress is proportional to the strain. The restoring force per unit area is known as stress. The ratio of change in the dimension to the original dimension of the body is known as longitudinal strain.
stress ∝ strain
so, stress = k X strain
where k is the proportionality constant and is known as modulus of elasticity.
Longitudinal stress = Y X Longitudinal strain
[here, Y is called the Young's modulus]
Shearing stress = G X Shearing strain
[here, G is called the shear modulus]
Hydraulic stress = - B X volume strain
[here, B is called the bulk modulus]
Hooke’s law is an empirical law and is found to be valid for most materials. However, there are some materials which do not exhibit this linear relationship.

I have one humble request for you.
Can you please make people aware through your channel about not to use plastic bag or plastic carry bag were we can substitute with jute bag immediately. We might can't substitute our plastic brush or plastic gadget or many other plastic item immediately. But we can replace plastic bag with jute bag while buying vegetable or buying monthly requirements or stop taking plastic carry bag while shopping. We can reused jute carry bag or cloth carry bag which we get sometime while shopping. You know as per my knowledge I think we are facing one of the greatest problem on our earth that is climate change. You very well known that what is importance of balance ecosystem.Human being can't survive being alone on this planet. Every second we are throwing millon tonne of plastic in ocean which is destroying the ocean ecosystem. Can we eat a single bit of plastic consciously???? And we are throwing it here and there. We might earn lot of money for our kid but that money is useless if we can't provide them fresh air , fresh water, fresh ecosystem. It is now our young generation responsibility to make safe environment for our next generation and for every living organism on this planet.

stress is the internal force of restitution per unit area. लेकिन जब हम tensile load applied karte hai to internal force हमारे द्वारा लगाए गए force ke equal and opposite direction me induced होगा, तो जो internal force hai ya restoring force hai body ko compressed karne ki kosis करेगा । Us time jo stress hai wo compressive nature ka hona chaiye par hum use tensile stress consider karte hai aisa kyo???

Sir,Is stress potential Energy?
No at all.
1. Potential energy is stress acting so as to displace or store the work in volume.
2. Potential energy due to elasticity or stress is defined for effect on volume.
3. Normal stresses affects volume either by compressing or expanding it. I.e. size not shape. Shear stresses affects that volume to distort its shape not size. So the energy is possessed by the body.
4. If these stresses or strains in elastic range then it is elastic energy. Or can be recoverable. But in plastic range it is non-recoverable. So here the energy is permanently absorbed & converted to other forms like heat.
