When I first heard Bob Marley….I wanted to know who he was and what kind of music he was singing! When I was told who what and why I was instantly in love! That reggae hit me hard my sister and I must have listened to the album many many times it sounded better each time! Love him miss him!
Oh yes, yes yes! Bob Marley is a whole rabbit hole! Add “No Woman, No Cry” “Could You Be Loved” “Sun Is Shining” “Buffalo Soldier” “Waiting In Vain” “Get Up, Stand Up” “Turn Your Lights Down Low” “Is This Love” “Punky Reggae Party” “Exodus” so many good songs.
I think Bob Marley is like the situation you described with The Beatles, where he’s such an icon that you know who he is, but not everyone that knows who he is knows his music. Dive deeper, so worth it. You can listen to him back to back to back and just enjoy the ride.
ol. bob marley the little loser , his ignorance and lack of intelligence made him believe in mythical false gods caused his death..lol that animal had ten kids from 8 women while married! lol what a piece of garbage of a man

Bob was undoubtedly a great solo artist. I have to say…this is Bob Marley AND The Wailers. You could argue that Bob wouldn’t be the Bob we know without Peter and Bunny.
That is absolutely correct. Peter Tosh taught Bob Marley how to play guitar. Bob, Peter, and Bunny also owe a lot of credit to Joe Higgs. He taught them how to orchestrate in the 60’s in a yard in Trenchtown, Kingston, Jamaica where they went on to create hits on that island for years before hitting the international scene.
Jay & Amber, you'll love his "Could You Be Loved", "Is This Love", "Jammin' " and "Get Up Stand Up"!!!! Stevie Wonder's song "Master Blaster" is a tribute to Bob. Bob's Greatest Hits album 'Legend' is a treasured part of my collection!!! edit - Bob's wife Rita was in a group called the I Threes who often provided backing vocals.
"Redemption Song" is hands down his best! "One Love" is one that most people recognize once they hear it. "No Woman, No Cry" is also another great one. Honestly there isn't a single song of his that I don't love. My mom once got me a boxed set of all of his albums on CD. BEST MOM EVER! :)
The problem with Marley, when you start suggesting tunes of his, you just keep going on & on, because every one of his songs are great. He was a force who touched everyone who heard him.

My uncle calls him "Pareng Bob" literally translates to either "Friend" or the "Godfather of your kids", which kinda makes sense because he used Bob's tracks as a lullaby when me and my cousins were kids.
I actually met him in 1980, very humble man. I recently made a mix of his tunes, it ended up being almost 4hrs. The weird thing is though, I sang along word for word for most of them. Its like he seeps into your dna.

It’s heart warming and funny and it’s a sports movie for Jay!! 😎 Comedian John Candy is one of the main characters. Check it out!
Most Americans haven’t heard this original track. Johnny Nash traveled to Jamaica and met Bob Marley in 1967, and had his final US hit in 1972 with his cover of “Stir It Up.” It rose to #12 on the Billboard Hot 100, and became the first Marley tune to become a hit outside of Jamaica.
"No Woman, No Cry" (but the live version, not the studio version) and "Redemption Song" (the acoustic version, definitely) are two of the greatest songs from anyone. Marley's voice and the lyrics will have you listening to both over and over. You already know what his voice can do with such an apparently simple song like "Three Lil Birds".

Jay and Amber, Bob's music and writing partner, Peter Tosh is well worth looking into. He was famous for singing the famous Get Up Stand Up with Bob. Coming In Hot, Pick Myself Up, Crystal Ball, I'm The Toughest are among some of his tastiest mellow tunes.
What sounds like a lead guitar is actually a clavinet which is a keyboard instrument played using wah wah pedals. It was played by session musician John "rabbit" bundrick who has also played with the Who live. Stir it up is from the first Wailers album called catch a fire and session musicians like rabbit were brought in to add a "rock" feel to the songs so that Bob and the wailers could cross over to the "white" rock Market at the time. Boy, did it work!!
I remember hearing this single in 1972 not by Bob Marley but by Johnny Nash, whose first single, I CAN SEE CLEARLY NOW was a huge smash. I read in an article that he had worked with Bob Marley and recorded his version based on the Marley track. I CAN SEE CLEARLY NOW is a song you should absolutely checkout. His clear soaring vocal is inspirational. Enjoy.
Now you need to check out the rest of The Wailers from this period with Bob Marley , Bunny Wailer & Peter Tosh. They all made great music together & apart.
YES finally Bob Marley!! I’m a caifornia beach girl from waaaaay back and this is the soundtrack of my youth. Such a vibe, such a vibe, such timeless lyrics.
Jammin, from 1964, and Redemption Song, from around 1970, are the most iconic amongst Marley's long list of hit songs. Reggae musicians have unanimously honoured Marley as the greatest exponent of the genre. I'd like to hear more of other Reggae influenced music, such as from Police, UB40, and Jimmy Cliff.
Yay Bob Marley! You’ve got a deep catalogue of joy to dive into there. Get Up Stand Up, Could You Be Loved, Buffalos Soldier, One Love, No Woman No Cry, Exodus, Redemption Song - seriously I could go on and on. So much good stuff for you to look forward to.
Bob Marley started his career in the 50's w/ his band, The Wailers - they featured Bunny Wailer and Peter Tosh... both left the band in the early 70's when the band came to the UK, after being established in Jamaica. Bob Marley worked the scene in Europe, then N. America and built his fame from the ground up, even playing Africa... His cancer diagnosis in 1980 and death in 1981 was a huge loss... His songs had been covered by legends like Eric Clapton, Nina Simone, & Stevie Wonder. The one record that makes everyone's collection is "Legend: the best of Bob Marley" ... which was released in 1984 after Marley passed away. It had his best material from his 70's career, and has sold over 15 million copies in the US alone, over 25 million globally. It had all his major hits ("Is this love"... 'Buffalo soldier'... 'No woman no cry'... 'One love'... 'Redemption song'... etc.) His former bandmate Peter Tosh also launched a successful solo career as a reggae artist in the 70's... Tragically, he was murdered in 1987, just before he could release his last album 'No nuclear war'... Peter Tosh's big hits include: 'Na goa jail'... 'Bush doctor'... 'Johnny B. Goode' (Chuck Berry cover)... 'Coming in hot'... 'Not gonna give it up'... 'Maga dog'... 🔥🔥
lol nah, not really kid..lol.... marley was a savage, uneducated jungle breeder..does that bother you?..lol the alley dog had 15 kids with 9 different women while he was married...lol what a savage
Great reaction, Jay and Amber. Please check out these tracks by him; 'Exodus', 'One Love', 'Jamming', 'Redemption Song', 'Waiting in Vain', 'No Woman, No Cry', 'Could You Be Loved', 'Sun is Shining'. Other artists and tracks to react to; 'Janet Kay - Silly Games', 'Barrington Levy - Here I Come', 'Barrington Levy - Under Mi Sensi', 'Dawn Penn - You Don't Know Me (No, No, No)', 'Bob and Marcia - Young, Gifted and Black', 'Jimmy Cliff - Many Rivers to Cross', 'Althea and Donna - Uptown Top Ranking', there are plenty of others but these are a good start.
So much to enjoy and admire about Bob Marley - Exodus or Natural Mystic are two you should love along with One Love (People get Ready), such an amazing man, never mind artist.
lol nah, not really kid..lol.... marley was a savage, uneducated jungle breeder..does that bother you?..lol the alley dog had 15 kids with 9 different women while he was married...lol what a savage
Please react to Buffalo Soldier and Jammin you will love them both! You both are in the zone for sure Jay and Amber! 😁 Also check out No No No by Dawn Penn She's is 🔥🔥🔥🔥!
Bob Marley was one of those artists who's raw creativity. lyrical content and purity makes his music timeless....there aren't many but he's definitely one of them. You really can't go wrong - another artist taken too soon, who left such a massive void in his absence....one of the greatest - I Shot the Sheriff, Redemption Song, Exodus, Jammin', etc...
"Waiting in Vain," "No Woman, No Cry," "One Love, " are some of my many favorites. I could quite literally listen to Bob Marley all day long every day.
Bob is one of the greatest influences in my life. As a person from the Caribbean, he has shaped much of our culture. Yes he has love songs, but his revolutionary tracks are what influenced our behavior. Peter Tosh was on this track as well on guitar. A big contribution to the sound of the Wailers.
If you go to the official Bob Marley channel, they've uploaded the complete live video of his 1977 set at The Rainbow. The whole thing is fantastic, but I highly recommend The Heathen and Exodus if you haven't gotten around to them already. I'd say they're reasonably popular among fans, but I rarely hear them being spoken about among casual listeners. Nothing wrong with casual listening, but I think you'll see with these that he has way more to offer than the mainstream usually gives him credit for. It's much more than just beach music. 😉
I hadn't heard this in ages! Please hit "No Woman, No Cry" as it's my favorite Marley and has some special meaning to me because of our dog, Grendel. If she got scared or in trouble she'd run to Daddy and want me to sing "No Grendel, No Cry" to chase the doggo blues away. She's long gone to the Rainbow Bridge but the song always fills the room with her presence.
lol nah, not really kid..lol.... marley was a savage, uneducated jungle breeder..does that bother you?..lol the alley dog had 15 kids with 9 different women while he was married...lol what a savage
I'm watching Marley playing in Germany on utube to a huge crowd. They're doing "Get, Up, Stand Up" . And for a moment, the camera freezes on Marley as he's throwing his head back, tossing his dreads. And I think, "That is one iconic shot...with the lights giving him an aura, he looked like what he was..a God to the people of Jamacia."
Wow! I feel like a dum-dum right now! When I was a kid I thought this song was called Mysteria! LOL I clicked on here with one reason that I thought I had not heard of this song, like what is Stir It Up? I am now re-educated! I just got to laugh though. My personal misheard lyrics!
🇯🇲 🇯🇲 🇯🇲 Finally! I was curious how much of his music you knew. There is so much for you to explore. A lot of his best songs were already mentioned, but I'm going to single out 'Could You be Loved' and 'Redemption Song'. You should also check out Dennis Brown. Bob Marley dubbed him the 'crown prince of reggae'. He started in when he was around 14. 'Money in my Pocket', 'How Could I Leave' and 'If This World Were Mine' are good places to start.
“Everything’s Gonna Be Alright", “Get Up Stand Up”, “Is This Love”, “Buffalo Soldier”, “I Shot The Sheriff”, “Could You Be Loved”, “One Love”, “Satisfy My Soul”, “Redemption Song” and “No Woman No Cry”. I also really like his sons' music, Damian Marley, Ziggy Marley and Stephen Marley, if you listen to them too you will see Bob Marley never dies he just multiplies.
Who doesn’t love some Bob Marley? I listen to his Pandora station. I love Buffalo Soldier, Three Little Birds, Could You be loved, etc. so many great songs to listen to ❤
Redemption song! I had the pleasure of seeing Bob's concert at crystal Palace London, burnt in my heart forever! It was sadly his last concert in England, he died of cancer at the young age of 36 😔 he was a ball of pure energy and love on stage so many songs to listen to .Thanks guys xx
You guys should react to more Bob Marley… "Is This Love", "No Woman, No Cry", "Could You Be Loved", "Three Little Birds", "Buffalo Soldier", "Get Up, Stand Up", "One Love", "I Shot the Sheriff", "Redemption Song", "Jamming", "Burnin' and Lootin'", "Sun Is Shining" 🎸🤘
YES!!! Finally.. Great song, great artist. I had previously mentioned that the bass in this song would be a great song for you Jay to learn as it is a pretty easy rift to learn if you are just starting out.
Love Marley (and I'm sure I'll get hate for this) but I prefer Johnny Nash's version. I think because it was the first version I heard, as a kid, and it had a real impact.
Back in 1992 when I was 16 my friend taped 'Live at the Rainbow' for me to listen to. From that moment on I was hooked. In 1999 I had a tattoo of Bob from the front of the Kaya album on my shoulder and it still looks tasty today. The mainstream songs are excellent but the hidden gems in my opinion are the ones that you'll probably never hear like Pass it on from the Burning album my personnel favorite. Best get back toking. :) Keep up the good work and Bless up you wonderful family.
So true story, this song popped in my head today at work and I listened to it on repeat all morning. But it was Johnny Nash’s version. I just love that one - still with a reggae vibe but mixed with a hint of R&B too. And Johnny Nash’s voice is like silk - I hadn’t heard it in years and today I realized just how great his voice really was.
I think Bob Marley must have been one of those musicians that let fans record and share their music, because there are a lot of bootlegs of his concerts out there. He was amazing live!! They stretch out some of those grooves and solos, and really take you away.
so many great songs to choose from. i promise you that you will love redemption song. it's just amazing. i think it's the most meaningful song maybe every written.
The album Legend is essentially his greatest hits, and there are great songs from start to finish on it. Is This Love, Could You Be Loved, Buffalo Soldier, No Woman No Cry, One Love, Waiting in Vain, Satisfy My Soul, Jamming, Get Up Stand Up, I Shot the Sheriff, Redemption Song, and Exodus.
“Irie rastafari!” Feels so good. 😎 Reggae music is world music, and Bob Marley is the undeniable ambassador and all-time reggae GOAT. The sounds are so infectious and groovy and give us just plain cool vibes. Do “One Love,” “Waiting In Vain,” “Satisfy My Soul,” “No Woman No Cry,” “Jamming.” There are no bad Bob Marley songs. "No Woman, No Cry", "One Love", "Redemption Song", and "Could You Be Loved" are essential by Bob Marley.

'Redemption song'... etc.)
His former bandmate Peter Tosh also launched a successful solo career as a reggae artist in the 70's... 🔥🔥
lol nah, not really kid..lol.... marley was a savage, uneducated jungle breeder..does that bother you?..lol
the alley dog had 15 kids with 9 different women while he was married...lol what a savage
When the Beatles broke up Paul and family went there and fell in love with the music!
Bob Marley "I Don't Want To Wait In Vain"
...R.I.P. Robert Nesta (Tuff Gong) Marley🙏❤
..One Love For True..Rastafari.
“I don’t Want it to Wait in Vain” is an absolute masterpiece it is so beautiful
I’m gonna go listen to it right now❤️
No woman no cry
So much to enjoy and admire about Bob Marley - Exodus or Natural Mystic are two you should love along with One Love (People get Ready), such an amazing man, never mind artist.
lol nah, not really kid..lol.... marley was a savage, uneducated jungle breeder..does that bother you?..lol
the alley dog had 15 kids with 9 different women while he was married...lol what a savage
Bob Marley's most famous song is "I Shot the Sheriff", followed closely by "No, Woman, No Cry" (a lament for his mom) and then "One Love"...
Please react to Buffalo Soldier and Jammin you will love them both! You both are in the zone for sure Jay and Amber! 😁 Also check out No No No by Dawn Penn She's is 🔥🔥🔥🔥!
You would also like Johnny Nash's "I Can See Clearly Now" from 1972.
I grew up listening to Bob and I still love listening as much now as I did when it first hit the airways
"Waiting in Vain," "No Woman, No Cry," "One Love, " are some of my many favorites. I could quite literally listen to Bob Marley all day long every day.
Bob Marley & The Wailers - Stir It Up (Live at The Old Grey Whistle, 1973)
His music can either be a total vibe where it’s amazing background music or you can listen to the lyrics and they are often powerful or insightful
'Buffalo Soldiers' - is a must to react to.
She's long gone to the Rainbow Bridge but the song always fills the room with her presence.
lol nah, not really kid..lol.... marley was a savage, uneducated jungle breeder..does that bother you?..lol
the alley dog had 15 kids with 9 different women while he was married...lol what a savage
Beautiful story
No woman no cry was his most popular song
Redemption song is my most favorite song of Marley's
I'm watching Marley playing in Germany on utube to a huge crowd. They're doing "Get, Up, Stand Up" . And for a moment, the camera freezes on Marley as he's throwing his head back, tossing his dreads. And I think, "That is one iconic shot...with the lights giving him an aura, he looked like what he was..a God to the people of Jamacia."
I’m a huge fan of his kids music. Damian Marley is my favorite.
"Could You Be Loved" or "Jammin'" by Bob Marley should be next, guys!!
Please react to Bob Marley -Buffalo Soldier -I Shot the Sheriff -Is This Love -Get Up Stand Up -Thanks!!!
That reggae beat is so addictive and then add Bob Marley's talent and your in heaven!!! Loved this reaction...
"One Love" is as near a hymn as anything you'll hear. I say that in a good way!
You guys should react to more Bob Marley…
"Is This Love", "No Woman, No Cry", "Could You Be Loved", "Three Little Birds", "Buffalo Soldier", "Get Up, Stand Up", "One Love", "I Shot the Sheriff", "Redemption Song", "Jamming", "Burnin' and Lootin'", "Sun Is Shining"
🎸🤘
YES!!!
I actually love the beat of Johnny Nash’s up-tempo version better, also. 👍🏼
I am 42 I am I badly want a tattoo of Bob Marley, what a legend
So true story, this song popped in my head today at work and I listened to it on repeat all morning. But it was Johnny Nash’s version. I just love that one - still with a reggae vibe but mixed with a hint of R&B too. And Johnny Nash’s voice is like silk - I hadn’t heard it in years and today I realized just how great his voice really was.
Jimmy Cliff is another with what I would consider a silky voice
ahhhh the days and nights of pure relaxation i have had listening to bob for the last 30/40 years.....
I think Bob Marley must have been one of those musicians that let fans record and share their music, because there are a lot of bootlegs of his concerts out there. He was amazing live!! They stretch out some of those grooves and solos, and really take you away.
Finally! You're in my neck of the woods! There is no bad Bob Marley song. Yeah Bob does that to you.
so many great songs to choose from. i promise you that you will love redemption song. it's just amazing. i think it's the most meaningful song maybe every written.
More reggae-rock vibes:
311 - 'Amber'... for ya girl!
The greatest collection of Bob Marley songs ever.
A *taste* of his greatest hits. ;-)
Love you guys! 🔥🤙
I’m kinda partial to “Buffalo Soldier”.
Bob is my "Elvis" my legend, love the guy. First singer i heard when i was a child. Great reaction guys
