We have visited tens of countries and here in Santo Domingo i was robbed but i got the wallet back immediately. We never come here any more. This happened 1990. Never robbed in other countries.

James and Keli, just like English, Spanish is a widespread language, and it's the official language of the Dominican Republic spoken by 99% of the population.
The problem we had with Spanish was that James studied Spanish for 8 years and majored in it at University. However for the last 4 years we lived in China which did not help our Spanish 😂 So trying to go back to it after not using it was very difficult 😆

Yes! The Dominican Republic is safe for travelers. 😄 We spent 11 days in Dominican Republic and met some really great people. We would definitely recommend Santo Domingo to start your travels.
