    Great video! The gamechanger for me was using a Bagsmart cable tidy bag to organise all my cables - I've now got multiple bags with different sizes/configurations depending on what kit I'm taking. They're such a great bit of kit!

    0:21 you could make a video about the STICKERS on your iPad. I’m not even joking 😂 there’s so many there have to be some stories behind them

    I recommend the Caldigit SOHO dock for a portable USB-C dock. It has a removable cable which makes it a lot easier to pack and because you can use any length cable you want, it won’t hang off your iPad like some others and it even is even great for a desk setup because of it. It supports 4K60hz with both HDMI and DisplayPort. I was looking so long for the perfect dock for my iPad and I don’t know how I glossed over the SOHO for so long, maybe I thought I could find something cheaper. The only downside I can see for some is that it only has two ports for USB data, one C and one A. (Power is a separate type C port).

    How do you manage the backup on the separate drive? I have tried backing up my Photos library before and have not found a good way of managing all those photos.

      Unfortunately I have to manually copy files over. I use to use a Shortcut, but it got really buggy.

    Chris, great vid as always. I’ve been asking you a question over and over again while I look at your IPhone screen. Where is the phone app?😁 you are not calling anyone or what?😁😁😁 Thanks.

    • @ChrisLawley
      @ChrisLawley  6 месяцев назад +1

      I rarely make calls so I don’t keep it on the home screen. IF, and that is a big if, I do need to make a call I just use spotlight and search for the person.

    Chris, what brand of braided cable do you use?

    • @ChrisLawley
      @ChrisLawley  6 месяцев назад

      Either Ugreen or Anker. Both are really good quality.

    Outside of the fact that I don’t think what I built yesterday could be submerged and work, I built a 4TB SSD for my iPad Pro. $230. Used a Crucial 4TB NVMe drive and a UGREEN enclosure.
    Why? Cost is one reason. A 2TB SSD is close to $200.
    The other MORE IMPORTANT reason is the construction of small external drives! The manufacturers all integrate the USB controller into the drive electronics. This means there is no way to easily get your data if the USB controller goes out. I can’t you how many times tearing apart a USB drive allowed me to save my bacon. The construction of the SSD drives pretty much integrated the USB.
    My drive(s) can be disassembled and the NVMe portion put into another enclosure to save the data or continue using the drive…
    I bought parts for a 2TB & a 4TB drive for just a bit more than 2 TB drives from a store…
