@@vika0194they did. It comes through the speakers and you can turn it on and off via the infotainment system and sounds like their V12 engine. It’s Rolls Royce…they think of everything.
A great quick review Ginny. I would love this car without any doubt, but like most of us it's highly unlikely to appear on my drive any time while I can breath but that's OK. I can admire the engineering and design that has gone into it from afar. It keeps people employed and uses the latest technology so for those who can purchase one it would be fantastic to see the result of all that time and effort on the road. Many thanks for sharing.
In a age of 2 million Dollar Hyper cars where the race to be the fastest and quickest in the quarter mile becomes less appealing. Although i can appreciate the technology and breakthrough in acceleration and performance, this truly is a breath of fresh air! It's not exactly cheap, but heck, it's a Rolls Royce, and i can see where the money has gone. The craftmanship, sense of occasion, and attention to detail is second to none. Well done Rolls Royce. For once an EV that truly is desirable on many levels!
I have one pedal driving with my Tesla M3LR and it is a real pleasure to have strong regeneration too. It didn't take me long to be able to judge slowing/stopping distances for various driving conditions. That said, if I win big on the lottery...
It's absolutely gorgeous, of course, but I can't help reflecting that the basic body shape is designed around a massive V12 engine which is no longer there. This is a feature, admittedly, of most electric cars. Shouldn't an electric car radically redesign the body shape so that form follows function? Very few cars yet do this - the BMW i3, the Citroen Oli... Meanwhile I look forward to seeing a few of these on the roads around Chichester where I work.
It’s a deliberate aesthetic choice, because a long bonnet is a traditional hallmark of large luxury cars. Otherwise they will all end up looking like a blob and I can assure you that’s not what RR clients want…
You said it yourself - because it's gorgeous. And because the traditional Rolls-Royce customer wants to feel grand and imposing. A long bonnet and sleek saloon design does this. As opposed to the pathetic and laughable squished styling of the BMW I3 - which screams "im a cheap city car".
It looks fantastic in every way. Unfortunately I can’t see it being very popular in Australia because when you spend that much money for a car that would absolutely minimise driver fatigue you would expect a decent range in a country like this where we can drive for eight hours a day or more.
Like Ginny, one pedal driving is great and not sure why anyone needs to be able to adjust its strength. I love my cars and just feather the throttle to achieve smooth braking with the occasional use of the brake pedal when unexpected things happen. I thinks it's an understatement to say it is a big car, it's massive but I do agree that electric powertrain and Rolls Royce were made for each other. is it aesthetics or an engineering requirement that still needs the huge bonnet / hood as there is no lump of engine up front. I suppose it would look odd without it, maybe it's got a big frunk?
I like it. But i like most 2-door cars. Thanks you Rolls-Royce, for not building the next deadly boring 4-door saloon or SUV. Show the way for other designers , , , , except the price 😎
i think i will have to wait to win the lottery to buy this car oh and a new house with a drive big enough to park it. but it is great that rolls royce are going EV. and i bentley will follow suit. i would love to see the production line of this car.
A 2 door coupe as the first electric roller? Brave choice indeed, it rules out the whole chauffer market which I thought was RR's iconic market. Surely not the self-driving influencer-onlyfanz type of buyer......
On another Spectre first-drive video I watched, RR claim that their average customer is now only 43 years old and that most, therefore, will want to drive rather than be driven
I was a valet at a 5 star hotel years ago and drove early Tesla model Ss and some Rolls-Royces. The Rolls were almost as smooth and quiet as the Teslas. I thought an electric RR was a no-brainer.
Why is it so heavy? I can understand with an ICE car where you have to deal with the sound and vibration of the engine, but in this case. It weighs even more than the Maybach EQS SUV which has a slightly larger battery.
That's a myth, not a fact. What RR is very good at is cosseting you in luxury with very little outside sound, you always hear something. That's my experience from owning many.
@@jjefferyworboys8138 Hi, yes, I know it's apocryphal but it makes the point. I loved the early cars but it's a shame they started using American engines and bodies built by Leyland and then, insult to injury, bought by the Germans. It makes me want to hang my head in shame. How could we let that happen?
Very informative review, its interesting how much heavier electric cars are. I'm wondering what the impact will be on tyre wear and road maintenance? As tyres wear down they produce micro particles, which research shows are carcinogenic. Shouldn't we be asking more questions about this topic?
If you own an RR, leaving it for a period longer than 1 week wi’ll start the tire ‘line’, I.e. weight pressure will create four microscopic straight lines I.e. micro versions of flat spots you see in racing, 😂you’re expected to drive the car for about 30 miles to make the tires symmetric again. If you leave a car for 2 months - which is a typical scenario for example, summers in hot climates like the UAE, you will need to drive about 150 miles - over 200km to make the tires symmetric. Until one owns a heavy vehicle, or a supercar, one doesn’t know issues one will encounter - comes with the territory, I’m afraid.
So you get rid of the engine and transmission, make it five meters long and three tonnes, but don’t add enough batteries for range or internal space? What’s it padded with? Actual cows?
Electric is an obvious fit for the smoothness of RR and it's something they should have done long ago. They could have gotten exclusive access to Tesla's charging network and battery density has been much the same as now since 2012 and RR price point makes it easy to hide the cost of an electric drivetrain. RR batteries cost no more than in a VW. So they should have had full electrics 8 years ago.
To me, a Rolls-Royce with its awesome V12 twin turbo charger internal combustion engine replaced by electric motor, is just like a man with his heart replaced by artificial! … Will miss the roar 😔
I feel weird to leak this, but all of the car reviewers there have the order, to tell "how much electric suits the Rolls-Royce" I personally think rolls Royce has lost one important part of s History, of making the most impressive big engines of it's time.
@@Neojhun kinda true, they use bmw engines anyway, but the V12 engine it's the most impressive, and the rolls uses it for all the cars, and that suits rolls Royce perfectly, not the battery and the electric power.
Been driving EVs since 2013 - a car without one pedal driving is missing the point. Luckily, when one consigns the build of your own bespoke RR (official name for buying a Roller - purists can cringe now 😂), one should request one pedal driving as this is not a BMW, rather a statement of elegance. And one pedal driving, once you get used to smoothness - belongs in a RR.
BMW should like Ford /GM masked same sort deal with Tesla to use there Network for Rolls Royce . That’s bad 300 mile range when you got Lucid can do near 500 miles and the Mercedes EQXXX can do 750 miles admittedly in a ultra designed concept car but if that battery pack in this I guess get around 400 miles account for RR weight etc.
Looks like a Wraith. I guess electric is suited for a RR because of how little the driver actually drives it anyway. On each trip. So the minimal miles it can get on one charge suits it. Anyway. Not like a regular passenger family car.

People who have a top of the range Rolls like this do not do long range miles. They usually have at least a 3 or 4 other cars like a Range Rover and a Ferrari and a little hopper car. If they want to do a long trip they’d take a different car or most likely the helicopter
They had to make the car louder inside so it didn't make passengers feel travel sick!
Would have been smarter to add an option to allow more sound in without opening a window.
