Through my own personal journey of "burning off deadwood" I recently reacquainted myself with a Kansas song called Under The Knife. Being a long, long time fan it became sort of my theme song and motivation in the quest of the better me; the one that was always there, from birth and baptism but was somewhat destroyed by twists of fate, happenstances and the general, sometimes evil gauntlet of life that we all run. Simply put a song about cutting out the bad in order to make room for the good. The "Doctor's" being the preist/ preacher, repentance; "They'll cut you out of me- repair, redeem, resurrection"...

Yes I have wrestled with God through out my younger years , but now I bow down to the most high and every spiritual aspect as best possible , as we all know is very hard to do in this mis leading society , I do not claim to be perfect in Gods eyes , and hope God can understand my circumstances , I try to walk in the light and be a descent person , like I have written very hard to do in such a confusing , mis leading society . It funny, im a new born believer myself, because God has spoke to me so many times i just cant ignore him anymore, he is for real i know. Few day ago i bought the Bible, an i am at exactly that story today, i was like okay a great story, but i did not get the idea, i asked myself that question what the point off the story, and then I as time to time follower off Peterson, choose this clip and say, hey that is what i was reading about today, God listens.

Although I think the phrase "wrestle with God" might be a bit confusing. In my experience, it's more a "wrestle with my selfish desires" as opposed to being on my good behavior, that feels more like a wrestling match.

Why does wrestling with God and Loving him have to be mutually exclusive? If God is a father then it’s inevitable that we as children will conflict. Not always as literal as a boxing match but to live in the world is to struggle. And sometimes we struggle Because the world God wants us to live in is hard and sometimes because we’re picking the fights and creating struggle. But it’s still something we have to do, and even on the cross Jesus asked God why he abandoned him. But just cause we struggle with our fathers doesn’t mean we also have to hate them. If we’re good sons then like a prodigal son we’ll return to our fathers wisdom despite struggling with it, and if God is as good as I believe then he will welcome us with open arms. We have to struggle with each other, and we have to learn to live with each other, and from that we learn to love each other.
I have wrestled with God my whole life and now looking back I see I have wasted so many years. I lament my wasted years and now I am fifty and I feel so lost and alone. Jesus is so good though and I know I am loved despite my many sins.

Who was this ‘God’ Jacob was wrestling?
Could it be Jacob was wrestling with his past actions? He was at a crossroads, he has betrayed his dying Dad and brother and booted from the family.

Dr Peterson Jacob was not morally ambiguous. I can explain in about one page why he did the things he did. It doesn't make sense that God is the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and Jacob became Israel and yet, he was morally ambiguous. He did what he did because it was God's will and I can explain why.

People who don't believe don't want God to be real for whatever reason. They are typically simple people or people who have been hurt. Okay, God wants you to have faith and not depend on feelings or even seeing. God is growing you, not leaving you, teaching you true decrement and dependance on prayer and scripture so you can more clearly hear the voice of God and be SET FREE at higher levels than you even know are possible until you crake back open that Bible and have faith in what you read and do as it says even if you don't see anything good out of doing good as your called to.
