Little did we know, ever since Warcraft 3 Reforged was announced by Blizzard, a group of passionate modders decided to embark on a passion project, to bring the Warcraft 2 campaign into the 21st century, using Reforged assets but also hand crafting models, voice lines, working with authors of the Warcraft lore, and much more! Let's see what this is all about!

I said it before and I'll say it again, These people should be getting the rights to The Warcraft Franchise and all of Blizzard and Activision's other Properties and Franchises! Or at the very least Running Blizzard and Activision!

as someone who lurks the Hiveworkshop from time to time, and makes his own maps whenever I can, I truly appreciate the effort that the community puts into everything. You guys kept the site alive through all these years even before Reforged was even announced. Thank you for this campaign I will play the hell out of it this weekend.

Its incredible how 20 years ago, you would get a fully fletched game that was incredibly fun and in-depth with its mechanics. One year later they would drop an expansion that was amazing!
Nowadays they take years to make a game that is objectively worse, costs a shitton of money and forces you to buy it if you want to play on Battlenet... if the reaction to the game would have been more positive they would definitively have tried to squeeze some in game cosmetics and lootboxes in there xD
not quite accurate. those fans are only making "customize parts" of the game, not the actual game itself. in other words: fans are using blizz ips assets (characters, designs, environments, objects, effects, sounds, etc). so we cannot give them credits as if they making the whole thing. but yes, they using blizz assets better (in some ways).
@@imm8rtal also not quite accurate, they made all the enviroments, objects, effects and sounds by themselfs. The only Blizzard things they use are: some unit models, story and concept art for some characters (models of those characters they still did themselfs)
@@ch0ven i think i will just laught at they way you think. if you call retracing and adding pixels "create" lol. btw the proper term would be "remaster" ("re-texture" as said in the beginning of the video) lol. and remaster only takes a very short time comparing designing 3D models from scratch. again lol.

Horn of the Abyss for heroes 3 is a complete marvel, so this actually holds true in several cases
Because the players/fans actually have a passion for the game, instead of just going after sales & money like modern gamestudios (with exceptions of course)

The first sentence is not only true but it is a fact now.
I am sure that the HiveWorkShop team is willing to assist Blizzard at fixing the game and the Editor, maybe even having good ideas for updates. Some of the community members even know how to fix certain issues/bugs by being knowledgeable in programming.
They could literally put those guys on a payroll to sell content. But I feel like they are too prideful and focused on the billion number to understand steady revenue.
The editor needs major revamp. It hasn't had any major changes since Frozen throne.
I don’t think that’s possible unless Blizz gave the freedom to these indie dev’s to fix it. As you can see in the fantastic cinematics they made for tides of darkness the FPS drops drastically because the game isn’t fully optimized. Blizzard half assed it.

@@AAGAIUV . . . And Microsoft, which now owns Blizzard (or at least will shortly), is known for Embrace, Extend, and Extinguish.
The development team wanted to do the War2 campaigns in Reforged before Bobby the Goblin cut all the funds and gave the money to projects like that abomination Rumble game. Designer Dave who was both on the original War3 team and who was called back for Reforged and later ghosted talked about that in his videos. I think there are even drafts on how that was suppose to look like that he gave to the fanbase to see on his official Discord. Big support for the people that made this possible. If Microsoft had any brain they would hire this guys to be a part of the future team for War4 if it ever happens of whatever, alongside Insanemonster from Re-reforged and other people that keep this game alive. I have more faith in them then most people that work at Blizz now. They earned their credibility.
How should War4 looks like? After War3 and all what happened in WoW?
@@Olagfigh Blizzard wanted to make Warcraft 4, but I do recall them saying their franchises will end in MMO's and Warcraft 4 will never exist. Doesn't mean it can't exist though.
Who knows what'll happen with this corpse puppet of a company. I just want Starcraft Ghost to become reality..
@@AceStrife True, but I cannot imagine how War4 might looks like. Current WoW is a mess, you have time traveling, alternative stories and characters (like "Gul'dan 2 from Warlords of Draenor"), afterlife world and other stuff.
@@Olagfigh I remember many years ago, it was either before or after the release of the Burning Crusade expansion... developers on WOW said that the MMO storyline is strictly separate from the RTS storyline. So, if they ever made a WC4 it would pick up after the Frozen Throne. However that was over a decade ago, so anything's possible at this point. I'd rather have the WC RTS storyline intact with none of the plot from the MMO as that's designed to churn out a lot of content with little to no thought. We'll see.

blizz didn't even make wc3 reforged, just like they didn't make sc1 remake. Note, im not saying if they did it would be better. We all know how blizz is nowadays
‘Blizzard’ doesn’t exist anymore,,only in our memories and hearts.
SC1 Remaster (not a remake sir) and D2 Remaster are done very well, so in these cases it's a good thing that Blizz didn't made these

wow this work is absolutely amazing and not even as someone who played wc3, but also as an artist and someone who would enjoy making UGC one day. This work has been more of a treasure for me than anything I can think of from at least the past decade. To know that this was made by working individuals in their free time has to be the most honorable and inspiring thing I can think of. They seriously deserve all the praise they can get.

The community will never let Warcraft die, they should give it to them. Also, startin to see this in a lot of games. Most noticeably in the Total War Warhammer community. The mods have basically taken over development. I would not be playing without them.

Passion goes a long way into making something that is remarkable. You are putting a small piece of yourself in your work after all, and that is exactly what reforged lacked.

This is incredible. Wow, im lost for words. Warcraft II is what got me into this franchise in the first place - very well done!
Now i want to play this, since i really like lore of Warcraft 2.
I had only a few roles as a voice actor, but from what I have played this project has been a tremendous endeavor and it is an honor to be a part of it, just as the original has been a great part of my youth.
I will say. Amazing models, cut scenes look fantastic. But wow that was almost a 15 minute cut scene. Talk about exposition dump, I really wanted it to end a little sooner. The dialogue is very good, but wow to much cut scene. And more and more just kept coming lol. I'm happy this is so faithful to the story though, it's like we are getting expansions to Wc3 :D
I'm seriously happy to see such a labor of love though. An amazing amount of work went into all of this and my opinion is mostly just a nit pick in the grand scheme of what is probably one of the best free DLC's I've ever seen. To also hear that they are allowing everyone to download these models for free to use in future plans anyone else has is quite amazing as well. If I had the money I would support this team and anything they do.
Auto Battlers and MOBAs started with custom WC campaigns (correct me if I'm wrong and they came before). So I absolutely love giving players the ability to create their own things. Hopefully these folks will go beyond just the basic WC campaigns and do something new if possible.
Exactly … imagine if they went on to make a Brand new RTS and it turned out better than stormgate and reforged etc.
@@Wil_Dsense The is a Long, loong way to go between, revamping an old campaing (in where they have done a awesome job def I'm up to become a patreon) and Desining, and creating an entire game from scratch.
@@ThunderflySc2 well not as much as you may think, they could use similar themes and stories / plots etc but just change the names and details enough… most game companies copy each other anyway!

Grubby, I would suggest playing They Are Billions, it is easily one of my top all time RTS games and I would definitely playing through the campaign and then testing out some community maps, since there are many that are just out of this world.
Blizzard should just straight up hire these guys at this point ngl

Glad to see you introducing and playing HIVE mods Grubby. I've been using them for quite a while now, especially the original WC3 mods. Their campaigns are incredible, most of them are based on the books and the actual lore. If you love WC3 and have been playing it for years, these will make you so happy that it's hard to put into words. Thank you to the creators for making these. You truly put Blizzard to shame. WC3 was the start of my adventure into WoW and so on, makes me so happy to see it still being appreciated and cared for after all these years, even though their original creators had already abandoned it, there are still people caring for it.

I'm so glad you're playing this. I haven't played warcraft in forever and when this mod came out it got me excited enough to try and do a custom campaign for the first time. I'm not a pc gamer though and don't have one capable of running it
Very impressive work, went and downloaded this immediately 👏 the wc1-2 arc of the story is my personal favorite
I like how Doomhammer when wielded by Orgrim has a dagger on top of it, which is a throwback to the old art when he killed and decapitated Blackhand.

I love this stuff. The introduction cut scene is too long imo if this were a mainline game, but as a fan made product for fans I think its fine.
I also LOVE the side hero concept, one who only levels with sidequest completion. Both encouraging side quest completion but not punishing it if you don't want to do it because your main hero still gains levels normally.

I'm on the second chapter and the game is epic. Those locations and cinematics from BRD... just like you are playing wow, even better graphics
The later missions are quite challenging on Hard, especially if you intend on keeping Utok alive (so long as he survives till completion of side quests, his abilities will level up).

They did better because they actually cared. Here we actually have extra effort going into the story and characters. That's the soul of Warcraft, and all games for that matter. That's what gives them staying power.
Warcraft III, the original one is one of the major reason I had interest in custom mods and custom content for games. The sheer amount of effort put forward for some of the old WC3 ROC maps was astounding.
To name one, Twilight's Eve was a custom map that was an entire RPG with hero classes to not only choose, but upgrade into improved classes. It even had it's own character save files and was all multiplayer! This passion project is truly amazing, it's so well done!

Wow I'm very surprised at the high quality of the script and voice overs. Coming from someone who played Warcraft 1-3 back when they were released (yeah I'm old lol), for me the quality is comparable to classic blizzard work, specifically Warcraft 3. My hat's off to these folks, much respect to what they have achieved here

White I do think this is very cool and a great idea for a WC game its obvious dialog and voice acting is a lot better in the original games.
Companies are all about the money. Fans are all about the love for the game. Of course they'll make something way better than Blizzard. Kudos to all the devs!

already saw it 3 times in 3 different streamers . and Im exited how much work they done on that Custom campain, there is a lot of awesome character lines 1st of them " Let Them Come" we can see Lich king , or Optimus Prime xD
That actually makes me wanna purchase reforged to experience this. Reminds me of "gothic 2 chronicles of myrtana" level of dedication and love that community can bring to their games
might actually buy W3 Reforged cuz of this project. Loved catching up on the lore in 1 and 2, but I really couldn't because of the old-school RTS experienced, one of the later missions just made me quit and never go back. And besides that, the reimagination and the cutscenes, everything made here is super interesting to see, thanks for giving me a reason to go back to warcraft

Ah Goldie Hawn, my favorite Warcraft author.
Like most indie custom campaigns the dialogue is a bit... superfluous and stereotypical (the writing that is, cant expect insane stuff voice acting wise) but what is extremely impressive is the cinematography and use of the game engine camera. Its very well done and many scenes manage to capture a classic wc3 cutscene, or actually push towards something like a movie scene.
