Can't believe it's been 4 years now, since we've beat this campaign on brutal. MasterKD, for me it was possible only thanks to these vids. Hope you'll be around for SC 3 ☺
I would like to point out some flawed logic by Raynor here. Both the platform and the tunnels can be attacked. With Raynor leading the special team through the tunnels, Matt Horner leading the Raiders to attack the platform, and have General Warfield or Prince Valerian can hold the line with the Dominion forces
They are in a hurry here: more zergs are arriving to defend their primary hive. Dividing forces, which barely survived initial trip to the surface, feels like planning for defeat.
Raynor and Warfield are wrong. It is possible to hit the platform and the Nydus network. With Horner leading the attack with the Raiders on the platform, Raynor leading the small group underground, and Warfield holding the current line on the surface with the Dominion, it is possible to hit both. Game developers just saw "Nah, pick one or the other."
Makes sense. But the casualties will be too high if they divide forces... even before dividing to do different tasks, they were already losing a lot of men... and doing so would make them lose the fight... and all the lives would be wasted...
@@lasajnae9626 If you eliminate one of the two sets of reinforcements, either ground or air, wouldn't that help cut down on the number of casualties? Like as the one of the caverns gets flooded with lava or one of the cooling towers destroyed, wouldn't that slow down the number of Zerg reinforcements deploying?
@@midknight3350 it would.. but Zerg repopulates really quick so instead of cutting half of the reinforcements, it just bring the threat to 75% or so... but yeah... that would work... but you need enough men to hold the line... you already know those things are strong af
Agreed. In Shatter the Sky, they would have had to divide their forces regardless. With Horner, Warfield and Valerian, Raynor could have respectively delegated each to a surface FOB defense, an air/ground task force to hit the platform, and a orbital TOC command element overseeing both ops. Then there's Arcturus Mengsk. Even though he told Valerian he was in over his head; I can't see him not sending elements of the other half of the dominion fleet as reinforcements. There's his secret designs with wanting to kill Kerrigan after deinfestation, and potential damage control with his media image.
Well they are meant to invade and live on all planets anyway . It doesn't sound smart but hey they're zerg . They conquer . Also to be fair they would eventually adapt to the environment anyway . On Hots , baneling adapted themselves to jump off climp when lava comes ( tho how they can live to that point is beyond my comprehension) . Beside fire and lava aren't the only thing that can be dangerous : extreme cold , microbes , hell sometimes there are nuclear warhead that help the most monstrous and hardest-to-kill zerg to reconstitute themselves to live another day ( cough cough good job Mengsk ) . Thanks to thr harsh environment they adapt and become stronger
They stay out of the lava, just like the Terrans. When the swarm first arrived to Char, they likely assimilated indigenous life forms that could survive in closer proximity to lava. It more unlikely that Terrans would be able to operate on the surface. Planet-wide volcanic and tectonic activity, thick ash clouds (any air/ground vehicles with an air intake), fluctuating magnetic fields (electronics). I can see the Protoss with their shielding and robotics.
One of my more favorite missions in the game. Though I hope someone can answer me this: Why is it raining on a planet that is mainly filled with rock, ash and lava? I'd really like to know.
I dont think I'm that good. It's just that the AIs in the campaign are so predictable, like they will attack you with the same amount of units at the same timings all over again (when you replay the mission multiple times). Hence, after replaying the mission 5-6 times, we can technically memorize the timings and then build a proper counter to their attack :P
@@MasterKD oh okay... still I'm enjoying your series. ^_^ I'm gonna watch your Heart of the Swarm videos next.. Thank you for such great entertainment!!!
For all units I press 1, and for each of the other hero I press 2, 3 and 4. I dont need a separated hotkey for Jim because he is prioritized when I select all units. Hope this helps :)
19:06 Can we give some props to that lone marine that was holding off the team's six, I can't believe he made it out alive :)
This was one of my favorite missions of all time, throughout the entire campaign.
I find that most people do this mission just for the character chatter, because it's so damn funny.
5:44 Stetmann and Swann on the planet's surface without protective suits.
Yeah they have bachelor degrees in scientific fields

Hopefully xD
No offense to those marines who died for their race, but how the hell is it raining on *Char*.
Maybe that's their fire suppression system that the player upgrades from the laboratory
@@guillerhonora717 It's water from all those dead zerg and marines evaporating.
It's possible it's acid rain.

28:32 to 28:35, Blizzard did it xd.
Just occurred to me. Zerg weakness is fire. Dwelling on a huge fireball

I'm surprised Raynor's "death star" rounds dont blow up the whole planet. Holy crap they're powerful.

Lol that was funny how Stetmann screamed like a girl when the Zerg bursted from their burrows at 10:37
Ah hell, the lava is rising!!! - That was the whole idea , now run to the extraction point you idiot !! That gets me every damn time XDDD
Tychus can outscore Raynor by quite a bit if; you let him, that is...
The Me and the boys mission
yeah i know it's been ages but any1 else noticed how fps drop down to literal hell in this mission?

very good, you saved some marines also.
great videos. I"m loving it.
btw are you going to do a video on the new Achievements for WoL?
I don't think so. I don't have much interest in SC2 at the moment, plus I haven't played RTS for a long time my fingers are so rusty now

It'd be nice if you could map their abilities to buttons, so you didn't have to keep switching control from one to the other so much.
"Thanks for the advice, son. Now shut up."
Skip to 25:03 for Omegalisk and how MasterKD plans to destroy it
How you make soo much credits?????
I never understood why they just didnt use thermonukes all over the planet .
Mainly because you would need shitload of nukes, and many zergs are underground, so surface bombardment will be ineffective.
@@ceu160193 good, easier to destroy the planet
@@peachesrambo4037 Unfortunately it's not Star Wars, and even protoss didn't construct something capable of blowing up whole planet from distance.
