Siddhartha Mukherjee has become one of my scientific heroes. I've read his books and have seen numerous talks and am constantly astounded by the way he has humility, while being incredibly insightful and compassionate.
He has become my favourite science writers - he has a gift for turning completely inscrutable concepts into beautiful stories and explanations with his evocative writing - there’s something deeply personal in the way he writes, in the way it touches you while really irradiating you with astounding knowledge. Sensational!
I once saw our dog dying in front of us, after he was given a lethal dosis. It's true, as soon as you try to lift a dead body, you realise what true "lifelessness" looks like, the limbs just hanging down with no reaction at all. A flexible dead body, a fresh death, is something very specific to describe.
I too have watched my cousin proceed through the stages of giving up his breath and then there is no life left. It was a curious experience, not frightening except for the fact that some we had know took flight and was no longer with us. The breathing stopped and the ‘definition’ of life changed. Our relative was no longer amidst us. He was gone. It felt strange but we had witnessed it and had to accept that life had ‘gone’. What was life? Who knows?
Debapriya Lahiri , youtube and other learning resources are available to you. You don't have to go outside of india to expand your mindset. Read lots of books, watch interesting videos on youtube and study from international universities on Coursera and Edx. You will definitely succeed in life if you expand your horizon, while living in India.
I live in Italy, but I am convinced living in India is better. People here just think of money and success, for the most. I read a lot of books about India and loook videos. I also suggest you to read the book and look the videos of Dr. Abraham Verghese, a phisician of indian origins who wrote 3 wonderful books. He is very caring with his patients.
@@lauratorchio1541 Trust me it is not better, India would have been a good place to live in 1000 years ago, actually it held world's first and astounding civilization (Indus Valley Civilization) but after numerous conquers and colonization India was burnt down to ash. India was torn down by the British people in the name of religion, caste and creed. Now, once a great country with so much of cultural richness is covered with dust and filth , run by a corrupt government and sleazy politicians.

Life and Death are 2 sides of same coin. They have to co-exist. Death is a sad thing for someone who has not lived life intensely. Someone who has not understood life will also not understand death.

It seems to me that he had more to say but stopped where he did out of kindness or fineness. What he did say: live and die with integrity. Brilliant.

Had a similar experience with my cat. She died suddenly, and picking her up to move her was surreal.
