Gabriel Bozeman I can’t post pictures on replies here, but it’s held up perfectly for now. Maybe when my son visits in December, we will wash it and do a quick follow up video. Thanks for watching
Gabriel Bozeman well it’s obviously not a great paint job but it does work ok. If you can do it inside a shop or something it would be better...less dust/bugs/etc. We got lucky and had a few really nice days as far as weather goes.
The best clear coat that you can get is the "OH MY" 2k clear from BuyCustomPaint.com. A HS clear that's really easy to spray with a high gloss, and doesnt require cutting or buffing and the small kits start at $30..... Definitely worth checking out...good video
Well it’s not perfect but it’s pretty decent considering it’s been sitting in the sun the entire time. I was driving the bug in the desert a few months ago if you search my videos.
Jorge Barrios it’s been sitting in the sun since then, the ball joints went out and we haven’t driven it. The paint still looks good, we will do a video on it next month maybe.
Good job. I get so anal on my painting, I would use wet/dry between each coat. I can see some black or british racing green or a darker blue than the tape as accents/pin strip? A for me, I blame KTM on the orange craze....And is that PBR IPA just like saying Jumbo Shrimp?
Gregor Miller I definitely am not patient enough to paint. It’s a five foot paint job which is great for a play car. The Pabst APA is really good, give it a try if it’s available in your area.
Father and son Nice team, and a beautifull vw with Nice color, perfect life.
Thank you, we have had a lot of fun with this VW. I just took it out to the desert last weekend.
Awesome father son project. Great to see that it has gone on and lasted since he was 13. Thank your son for his service for me please
Corby Q thanks, we really learned a lot building this car. Happy Holidays!
Awesome job
Thank you, that was a few years ago…it’s starting to show some wear. Wish I had garage space for it.
Good job! A couple of clear code will protect the paint...last longer!
We did end up putting clear coat on it. Car still looks pretty good, but it’s aged a bit. Thanks for watching.

Robert Roy just in time to take it to the desert and get it all messed up!
Came out great !!
Randizle Peregoy thank you, it really did. It’s still holding up good but I’m certain it’s not going to last nearly as long as a “real” paint job.
Can you post a pic of it now? Looking to do this to me 74 Bug. Bright orange as well! How has it held up?

@@TomsTinkeringandAdventures Thanks! Any things you would change if you were to do it again? Any temperature problems?

It's been about a year, the paint is holding up pretty good all things considered.
Amazing result. I am planning to use the same type of paint. How's holding after almost 2 years?

Any updates on how this lasted? looks really nice in the video.
Harrison Lucas so far it’s still looking good. Thanks for watching!

Tom's Tinkering and Adventures thanks for the reply can’t wait to see an update video!!
Cool video. I'm spraying my pt cruiser metallic blue Sunday. How long did you let it dey before it's drivable on the roads?
Mike P probably a couple days. The longer the better, it’s never going to be a professional quality job but the VW is still looking good today.
I ask because I'm painting mine at 7am Sunday in my friends garage and have to drive 50 miles home by 8pm that day
Mike P hmmm, I don’t know. I guess you can let me know how it works out for ya.
