"you can save your save files"
*"Meh"*
"You can save and upload your GB Camera ph-"
*"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA"*
Woah! You could get an ez flash cart, and literally condense your entire collection onto a single cartridge! Saves and all. That's amazing
I have an Everdrive GB x5, and sometimes looking for the roms you have as cartridge is a pain, because due to legal actions must of the sites are down. I would get this thing!
@@xprism1 This is the best resource ever, thanks for posting.

"the great wave of kanagawa" by Katsushika hokusai
it's so easy to search for on the internet, there's no excuse...he even acknowledges that it's disrespectful...
Or "great wave of something or other" y'know one of the most recognizable artworks in human history.
You mean now I no longer need to worry about my Pokemon Crystal save someday disappearing? Count me in.
there are Arduino shields for gb and gbc games
@@nurullahaksay I did not know that. Cool.
8:19 "You got that rom legally obtained in your emulation device" *30 seconds later* "FBI OPEN UP!!!!"
Before swapping batteries, load your game and save on an emulator, just to make sure it's all there!
MrMega yes also true and im buying this bc i will connect the cartridge to my pc use emulator when i finish gaming update save filr just like a 4k game boy
So user friendly!!!!
Nice to see a company making something that's pretty much a bare circuit board with a few other components look so beautiful! Great video as always Keep it up!!
I won One of this jewel on a Reddit raffle, I love it. You didn't mention that with future upgrade of the firmware this thing will be able to WRITE rom on blank cartridges!!
I want to scream right now... I wish this was there just a few years ago when I still had my Pokemon Silver save data alive, I had so much I wanted to keep on it :’(
It was. Well not this one, but these sort of things have been around for ages now.
Well sir, "these sort of things" is exactly why me and I am sure a lot of others didn't know about them, as they were unfamiliar to majority of people.
Anti static bag is massive massive props to the company. Sadly very rare to see.
For anyone that wants to know, the artworks full title is "The Great Wave off Kanagawa". :D
and who is the Japanese dude?

This is a very handy bit of kit! Thanks for the overview Elliot, I wish there were more devices like this to "rip" other cartridge based media.
Great video! Very imformative might get one for myself and try this out! I do already have a Everdrive but it could be a fun experiment
Thanks for the video. Will for sure buy one myself
Epilogue's GB Operator is based on this, isn't it?
Edit: Yep. It's from the same creator. I have no idea why he rebranded from Submodule to Epilogue, though.
That packaging and attention to detail on that module is pretty nice
This thing is sick. Great video brother.
Cool piece of tech..
Definately going to buy one!
Yes! Love your videos!
Also, I'm a GB collector... guess I need that...
Also, there's a thing called mega memory pack that also allows you to do this, great to see there's other options too!👍🏾👌🏾👍🏾👌🏾👍🏾
Best thing ever for us Gameboy enthusiast 😁 thank you I'm going to order one👍✌️
27 points.. Trys 27 deaths ;)
No true ending for Elliott.
ha thts what i thought when he said it lol
Oof, if i had this as a kid i'd still have my shiny typhlosion form pokemon gold
a beautiful little device. I really wish i had it 15 years ago. but now I have the flash cart and getting this would make it safer to copy the roms
Just a small note, the wave painting was done by katsushika houksai.

I do love that Gameboy you light, it looks great
Just get a GBXCart RW. Cheaper product, and cheaper shipping.
LOL dude the GBRW looks like it was made in the 90s

Nice video! But if you dump a rom you can't just sell your original cartridge and keep your rom. In Europe, the law says that you can have a backup of any game/dvd/bluray as long as you keep owning the original and you don't sell the copies of course. I'm not just saying that to be "Mr Legal" but because RUclips can strike your video for that. Anyway, keep up the good work mate!
Im in school right nwo watching this... I have always time fot your video!
thanks for the vid showing this off! I have my old games, a new emulator console and I hope *fingers crossed* that it'll even work with my old flash cart that just can't run with it's connecter on a modern computer. oh, and I'm pleased to say that the discount code still works :)
For those interested in only backing up GBA roms and saves, you can do that easily with any R4 and a DS Phat or Lite.
"I got 27 points".. No, you died 27 times. Zelda DX has a special ending when you finish it without dying
😂
wondering if the guys could make it smaller working with gbzero to have a gbzero capability with cart reading
This is sick. I just bought one. Thanks!
Great video mate! I needs me one of these! 👍🏻
they make game savers like this that work directly on the GB via a passthrough cart. without a pc!
That reader really needs to have a case 3dprinted for it. Or does it come with a case?
Hey! I love your work. Keep it up :D
That makes the both of us
Where was this when i lost all my data of 250 pokemon i spent collecting 😣
F
Yeah I just recently finally had my batteries die on me. They lasted a long time! Just replaced them, so now back to the grindstone with fresh memory batteries!
I'm one of those people who would rather use the actual cart instead of emulation. I feel like a device like this is a *MUST HAVE* to back up saves.
@@r100curtaincall yeah the battery last 10+ years without fail just when i went to check my pc box of my hard 6 months work of trading with friends that no longer care or play pokemon it was a grind because that is link cable days :(
There has been similar options for years like xploderGB. This might be better though
The Great Wave Of Something by Some Japanese Dude is one of my favourite pieces of art.
you might want to check out bennvenn's version of the card reader, it reads and WRITES saves AND ROMS on gb, gbc, and even gba bootleg carts. original carts cannot be rewritten of course, but that won't be possible at all I think, so that's about as good as you'll ever get
I'd highly recommend the GBxCart RW by insideGadgets. It's ~$30 and supports a LOT of cartridges (as far as I know MBC1, MBC2, MBC3, MBC5, and flash carts with the GBxCart icon that you can find here: flashcartdb.com/index.php/Main_Page ). It also has support for saving Game Boy Camera photos as well as recovering deleted ones. Definitely worth checking out.
0:02 upload, get to bed everyone.
Just bought one can’t wait for my eon ticket
I have the one Bennven makes, works great! Even with fake cartridges
Fun fact, ds phat and ds lite can also do this with a homebrew, but only works on gba carts
They don't make this anymore :/, your videos are great can't wait for you to come back!
The description should always have the explanation even if the title is clickbait
How is it clickbait?
Fast Forward to 2022. You can't get the GB-01 anymore. Support is now limited according to their website. Although you can still get the software, it is not known how long the site will stay up. No further updates to the software will be released. The Software was called by the community to be made open source, but Submodule commented that due to using some proprietary libraries that were bought from other companies to be used in their software they were not allowed to make it open source for future updates. Glad I got mine while I still could (Also Glad I waited 6 months to get it in the states instead of cancelling my order).
I got the everdrive GBA X5. Got all the GB/C/A games on it along side with all the NES games :) stored on a Sandisk 128GB micros card. The entire GBA NTSCU collection is 12gigs. Total sized used is 14gigs. Got over 100gigs to spare. 128GB are cheap now ^_^ i got it in my GBA SP silver model
Thanks for the discount code, it's a shame the shipping offsets it on almost double the discount.
4:10 more like 27 deaths XD
Hey Eliot, have you ever thought about doing a ds lite to a Gameboy micro conversion
Nice vid keep doing good😀😀
Does it recognize if I plugged in a different cart of the same game? Say I saved my save file then the current cart got damaged then I got a new cart (same game). Can I still upload the same save file in the new cart?
Do you absolutely have to download the rom when you plug in the game in order to download and upload the save file?
Do you know if once we’ve got our save and rom on our PC, it is possible to then manipulate this file in order to unlock events/balls etc ?
The Hokusai piece has cropped up twice now in your videos. At least this time you didn’t say it was by Da Vinci. XD
Sus where else did it appear?

This is so sick!
in theory using the 3ds's gba workaround that ambassadors used do you think it's possible someone could make an adapter that plugs into a 3ds's gamecard slot and the other end could imput gba carts?
is good for dumping backup?
sick now i can port my emu saves over
Wow that is awesome.
Hey man, I just got my GB01 delivered.
How did yours turn up, and did you have any problems with yours?
Basically, mine turned up and seems to be DOA. It doesn't seem to be reading any carts.Weirdly, it's got some strange greasy residue on it as well, as if it were bought used (I bought it using your 10% code from submodule themselves).
That'd be awesome. Finally I'd stop loosing my Dragon Quest III saves.
What about Rom hack games I got a English transled Pokemon green version it plays fine on my game boy advance but it crash's when put in the orginal game boy and there's one more Flaw the life bare glitch s when you are in a fight then in the 100s in Pokedex the middle numbers are messy is there way I can fix it.
3:34 when I finish going to the toilet.
Dang it Elliot. I can feel the money loosening from my pockets already.
Are there any shells available for this thing to protect it from damage?
So if I played an emulator then bought the actual cartridge later, could I use this device to load the save file from the emulated game onto the cartridge?
Does any know where to get a case for this device?? - mine just came in the mail and im looking for a way to protect it
So very cool!!
You can do that with a NDS and a R4
I didn't even get to the end of the video before I bought this, I now can't want for it to arrive!
How is it, im probably about to get one to back up some of mine.
@@Eaton. It's good. I've dumped all of my GameBoy/GameBoy Color/GameBoy Advanced games and backed up the saves and didn't have any issues with it. I now want one for all of the cart based consoles I have. lol.
it's incredible! a very interesting video.
So in theory you could so use this to get a bunch of Legendaries from the Pokémon games and then trade to them to another Pokémon game that's gonna hold them for you and then once you've cloned them all transfer them back to the game you want them on
*YES*
we had computers for sol long, they could have made a similar device compatible with windows 3.11 via a serial port. Great product
They had some really old ones that used a parallel port!
Hello ! is it possible to write roms on a gb/gba flashcart with this gba usb card reader ? and if it is possible can we have a menu for multiple roms ?
Only to "flash carts" or some of the clone carts / repos on Ebay. For multiple roms, there are only a few carts that do this.
I replaced the battery in my Super Mario Land 2 and the save wss still there.
I just found my Pokemon Red cart after 20odd years at the bottom of a drawer.
The save is still good!!!! :O
Wish it was still available
Got mine today and surprisingly it worked to dump GBA roms aswell. Great piece of hardware for sure.
45€ for a thing that the cheaper gbxcart or Flash boy cyclone can Do too?
Can it write Rom on cartridge or only Read the Rom?
This is superb. I love the fact you can transfer the GB camera pics. I've been needing a way to do that. Is there software for Linux?
Yes, it is for Windows, Mac and Linux.
@@AmyDaisy69 Excellent
Definitely need this
If I have a save on an emulator and I want to get it back on to the cartridge, can I do that? I miss the feel of physical buttons!
Yep you can!
My question is how does one get the software from sub module?
You should try to fix a game.com, someone had one up on ebay that had battery damage for $25 or best offer and I should have gotten it and tried to fix it but I already have 2, it's a pretty neat system
Do a video on the e reader !!
Cant the r4 card for the ds do the same thing as this thing but only for gameboy advance games
I got a GBxCart RW. Better and cheaper, just a much more simple UI. $29 USD and I've already gotten personally helped on Twitter with a chip that didn't previously work.
Where you get it
AMAZING !!!
Very interesting! They charge in Euros and they seem to be from Holland but are they sent from Europe safe? Because if they sent it from China they can stop it in customs.
Do you prefer this to the really old xploderGB?
Best believe I just bought one
I know this is years old but... Does this work in reverse? For example: If I had a Pokémon Red version save file from a rom on PC. Could I transfer that rom file to my Red version cartridge despite that particular save not being on that cartridge before?
This works to write a save into original pokemon games GBC?
Will these work with gba and gbc carts
GBXCart RW, Bennvenns joey, J.Rodrigo cart flasher all cheaper and can also write ROMS to flash carts.
