PLAB is preferable as it will allow you entry to UK at an earlier stage and eventually become a consultant quicker. But it all depends on your personal circumstances.

You can get mortgage from banks to own the house. For renting, you don't often see this kind of house on the market. Usually 3-4 bedroom house costs 1000-1500 GBP per month outside London.
You don't need to save all the money to buy the house. All you need is a credit score and salary package so that a bank is willing to offer mortgage. This is called leveraging your debt. It is possible within 10years of passing MBBS.
