I have always struggled with water in our area, never realized how poor the previous owners had done trying to take care of these fairly simple issues! Never so thankful to have come across your page, I have a DIY Downspout kit on the way from you! I've watched some of your vides, you say NOT to put a catch basin in if your downspout is near a tree. Unfortunately I have one that I need to run and will be tough to get away from the Maple tree it is near, is it better to not have a catch basin and just slope enough and clean it out over time at the pop up? It will be 25-30' from house to get desired slope. Thanks again for all your videos!
Install a catch basin 3 feet from the house. If the tree poses a threat that close to the house, you will have bigger problems in the future. Tape the connections and do not drill holes in the catch basin. Thank you for your business and support. Robert Sherwood
Great video. My situation is exactly like you're "what not to do" example. The problem is I have a property line. And only have space to go under a sidewalk and out. I love to send you a picture. It is sloping downgrade. Should I just put in a pop up on the vent And a leaf filter at the beginning? Thanks so much in advance.

@@FRENCHDRAINMAN I'm curious about just the green restrictor plate. I have corrugated pipe sticking up to the surface and I'm wondering if I have to get the corrugated to PVC coupler with a small section of PVC to attach to the restrictor plate.

Everything he says “is the best in the business,” if you look at older videos he made you see he used other materials. Also, he used to criticize leaf filters, now he sells them. Fuxking hack. Just go down to home depot and buy the corrugated pipe. It’s strong enough.
When I had a concrete patio installed, there were several underground system installed to handle the drainage from the gutters. Two run under the pation and the third just runs underground. None of them has ever worked correctly. For one, the rain water just pours over the side of the gutter and for the other two, I have no clue where the water is going. Not dumping over the top of the gutter but also not coming out of the popup either. Don't know if it's bad installation, gutters need replacing or a combination of the two. Unfortunately, you aren't in my area, NC, or I would check you out.
