  • We ventured out today into the mountains on San Gabriel in search of some wild rainbows. Sometimes you just got to stop and look around and enjoy what your area offers. As we wait for Socal trout season to go into effect we will continue to fish local waters. Hope you guys enjoy the video and feel FREE to sub :]

Great to see the natives are still in there... used to catch and release em in the late 70s and into the 80s! Even caught a Brook trout by the bridge to nowhere!

My dream is to see this area thriving with trout. Good to hear brooks lived there once upon a time!

@@pgfishing9925 My Dream too! Spent countless hours in the San Gabriel River...I grew up on Telegraph Rd...I'd ride my bike to Whittier Narrows and the beach! I'm almost positive at one time the San Gabriel had Steelhead in it!
Way back in the day...late 1800s early 1900s...
We used to hike back to Fish Canyon waterfall...they had Native Trout up there too ..
Really is beautiful country for being so close to LA!
Seen a Sasquatch in Azusa canyon once... yup! In the river not far from where they drive down to go 4×4ing.... where the bridge crosses over ...bout less than a mile from there ...up river...I was parked In a turnout smoking weed. .it was down about 150 feet sitting on a huge rectangle piece of granite...by the river... just sat there and rocked back and forth... waited bout 45 minutes for someone else to pull into the turnout...no one ever did so I just split...it had red hair..bout 1991-2
The San Gabriel River has a ton of potential...they used to stock trout up in the canyon but I think they quit doing it...
      ✌️

Place hasn’t been stocked in years with all the rains and fires sadly the fish life has depleted as well as poor fish handling and stress put on by the dirty campers that trash the spot. Next time wet ur hands and keep the fish in the water it will help them survive better

Where in Azusa mountains did you fish these trout? Was it the hiking spot where the dam is located at? Or was it near the road on the way up? Thanks.

Theres a difference between native and wild. These are all "wild". Dont listen to all the "expert" fishermen about your fish handing, just do your best.

You know just under and past the nowhere place is a great spot for overnight ruffing it. A little bit larger catch too. Ps. I use a 6ft. 2wt. Double Tapper with a 12-6 leader to a 4 lb. Tippet. @ ft each.
      Fun fun fun!
