- I noticed something that I had missed for months about Deadshot in Suicide Squad Kill The Justice League. At first, I thought that maybe I was the only one who had missed this, but the more I checked the comments and online, it appeared that many people were not aware of the explanation given for what is going on with Deadshot in Suicide Squad Kill The Justice League and what happened between his appearance here and in the Arkham series? We know that this takes place in the same timeline as the Batman Arkham games and also that Deadshot appeared in both Arkham City and Arkham Origins... so what happened?

is it possible the Deadshot in Arkham Origins was the real deal? i mean we only saw a little of the skin around his eye, and it kinda looks like he's black in the lighting we see him in.

In my opinion the best way to explain the change is that the original Deadshot retired as he had enough money to live comfortably with his family. So he trained a protege and gave him the mantle

Sounds like a lazy thing to do and just say that deadshot was black all the time. And makes Batman (World's greatest Detective supposedly) look bad in the Arkham games because he did not know Deadshot's real identity.

@@sonnybui9398 but as far as Bruce knew, Jason was dead. He’s not the type to doubt himself, so him thinking any other wise with no indication of Jason potentially being alive doesn’t really fit him.
The other point is that Bruce trained Jason. Its been said in the comics that the only person who can truly beat Batman (when he is prepared) is Dick Grayson, and we’ve seen it a few times as well. The same thing could be applied to Jason (to an extent, obviously Bruce still beat him in the end).
Even if Bruce was looking for Jason, Jason would always be one step ahead as he would know exactly what Bruce would have done.

Instead of making him an "imposter" they could have just made this new Deadshot his successor.
I think a better explanation would be that this guy is the fake. It makes way more sense that this guy took the mantle of Deadshot and the identity of Floyd after his death, because the original has to be dead. It is really weird that everyone, including Batman, thought this was white guy was Deadshot for years but were all fooled and never knew that he was fake. So, for me this new guy is the new Deadshot who stole the other guy's name because Rocksteady wanted to appeal to fans who enjoyed Will Smith as the character.

Maybe not even an imposter, but someone taking the mantle. There have been swaps for new iterations of characters in comic stories all the time, so I don’t see why this guy could just be the next Deadshot in line. Sure, it’s weird that his name is also Floyd Lawton, but that’s just as easy as saying he took that name as a mantle, too.
For example, Peter Parker in several Spiderman stories. Same name, different faces. There could’ve been so much confusion saved if they just said something along the lines of “this is the new Deadshot”
They’re very lazy with this kind of stuff. Hell, I wouldn’t be surprised if the entire reason it shares a universe with the Arkham games is because they didn’t want to come up with a reason for Harley to be without the Joker.
It could also be that Deadshot was on Vacation and for yrs and his apprentice or someone was ruining his name so he killed him( this has no facts with it, just a thought that could happen) just hope they explain in the game because it's all speculation not fact even this video because Rocksteady didn't say he correct

@@nicktroisi6347 for real. They’ve rebooted and un-rebooted the comics like 3 times in the past 10 years, they just rebooted the animated universe, and they’ve made god knows how many live-action properties with overlapping characters that are in completely different continuities for no reason.

another thing i notice, his mugshot is taken arkham asylum, meaning he’s an inmate in arkham asylum, and if takes place in the arkham verse, the universe where arkham asylum gets shut down and abandoned after the first game …
Not to mention that if he was in Arkham, Batman would definetly know that the other Deadshot was impostor, this is just lazy retcon to make it like the movie, and another case of source material being ignored over inferior adaptation (even though I liked Will Smith in that movie, adaptations should be made to resemble the source material not different adaptations)

I belive they retconned like three of them, King Shark died in Assault, Boomer died in the AK comics, and Deadshot from Arkham was a impostor. I'm kind of curious if they will explain these in-game, would be good if they did, like explaining how Shark is alive, if the current Boomer is the junior, and what the real Deathshot was doing back in the events of Arkham, also having Harley mentioning about her role back in Arkham series and post AK would be cool.

Is there anything here to suggest that this isn't the case? That this Deadshot killed the original to take up the mantle? The quote in the tweet works just as easily for this scenario.
Honestly after seeing this and other inconsistencies people pointed out in the comments, why even bother having it in the same continuity considering there would be less complaints otherwise.

When you’re so desperate to race bend an established character that you retcon them, even when they’ve appeared across multi Arkham games and the Arkham animated movie. Companies have their diversity quotas. They couldn’t allow their game to have an all white team (Shark doesn’t count) in the modern era. The line of “we wanted to fit with the modern incarnation” is bunk.

I like how Rocksteady got made at WB for making continuity mistakes yet they’re arguably making worse mistakes for this game than origins.

Well maybe the fake wore the mask that showed his face a bit, and Batman and others assumed the fake was the real one because they either saw him with a mask that showed his white skin, or a mask that covered his whole face. Sometimes the imposter was there, sometimes the real one was there. Nobody saw the real deadshot’s black skin because he wore a certain mask

How can the ‘real’ one be real, if the copycat accomplished everything? Be like saying Usain Bolt is actually a white man from Cornwall. The Bolt we know is an imposter. If I had to guess, the Deadshot we see in Origins and City is really Floyd Lawton, but he was killed by this new Deadshot so that this new one could quite literally take the position from him. With Assault on Arkham I feel it's pretty much impossible for the original Deadshot we saw in Origins to be an imposter without some pretty heavy retconning. Anything is possible though. Love your content Jay!

Even without Assault which I think is non-canon, it makes no sense for this one to be the real Floyd, especially if this one was in Arkham, Batman would definetly notice there are two of them, not to mention that the "impostor" was around for like a decade, that is definetly enough time for World's greatest detective to figure it out.

He was also a sucide squad member in Assualt on Arkam film where his character is given a backstory and motivation and looks realively the same and is the same person through all the arkamverse until now. Unless this is a different guy.

I personally have always liked how similar Arkhamverse's "fake" Deadshot is to Arrowverse's Deadshot, because i'm a huge fan of Arrow, and his interpretation of Floyd. But like you said, it's no big deal.
AK Deadshot is tough he held his own against Bats and the Joker. Even got acknowledged from Slade. If he was a fraud Slade would have called out another assassin/contract killer.

So the "imposter" Floyd Lawton from the games and assault on Arkham was a fake. So what of his daughter? The Deadshot from the games had characterization in the animated movie, he said he worked for penguin many times so he's been Deadshot for a very long time. This race swap or character change needs a better explanation than the other one was an imposter.

I personally only have two ways for this to work:
1. Suicide Squad kill the Justice League is not in the Arkhamverse and is instead in it's own universe.
2. Amanda Waller had Floyd go on a secret mission, so she used something she had to change his appearance and voice, so that he was undercover, but once the mission was over, Floyd found out that there was no way to give him back his appearance and voice, so he was stuck like that officially now, and his new appearance is what we see in Suicide Squad kill the Justice League.
personally, I'd rather believe the first one more than the second one (or even the actual explanation), but whatever.

I know this is a little bit off-topic but the new trailer for the upcoming suicide squad movie looks so good I think! I love how they gave attention to bloodsport, Idris Elba's character too.
To be honest, I don’t care too much. I really liked Floyd Lawton from the newer suicide squad movie (not the movie itself, just dead shot). To me at least, dead shot was always the suite and sniper, the race never really occurred to me.
Deadshot and Harley Quinn have both been changed to look like the DCEU and the fact that we have Captain Boomerang and King Shark we have a Suicide Squad made up of only Batman and Flash villains so even though I know Bruce faked his death after defeating the Scarecrow at the end of Arkham Knight I want him as part of the Justice League alongside Barry to fight the team
The thing that annoys me is that they made a whole movie with this white deadshot and then give him an actual personality AND THEN say he fake.
What if both are the real one? And this Deadshot just decided to get rid of the Arkham one in order to become "the one and only"

Got a question tho how is king shark, dead shot , Harley Quinn and captain boomerang going to kill any of the justice league. Batman has beat them all together before now imagine them going up against all of them they won’t be able to kill even one
Depends on who is in the league, they might be able to take out some of them like Green Arrow, but even against him, I wouldn't bet on them.
Assault On Arkham and the Arkhamverse tie-ins aren't cannon. I mention the latter because Captain Boomerang was killed in an Arkhamverse comic. Other than that Bane was also killed in an Arkhamverse comic, but there is no reference his death in the game's universe.

In my opinion shoving in any explanation after the fact is what actually makes this worse. All they really had to do was say "yeah, we liked Will Smith's Deadshoot, we liked Idris Elba's Bloodsport, Origins and City were made before the movies happened, and we wanted to go with that version of the character". They also could've released a small patch (replacing just 1 character model is what modders do on a regular basis) and say "here, you can install this to keep the canon consistent". As of now the running gag is that Batman didn't defeat the real Deadshot twice, all the while being called "World's Greatest Detective".
I seem to recall Deadshot being called Lawton in the Arkham games (and not merely in side material). Including by Batman. Who would presumably know the difference between the real Deadshot and a fake (especially from another race). Incidentally, I thought Lawton from the prior games 'scanned' more as Latin, though without any such accent.
Also, he's a boss fight in Arkham: Origins: Blackgate, and is recruited at that point by Amanda Waller (and Rick Flagg) as part of Task Force X aka the Suicide Squad.
This game contradicts that one Arkham movie, dead shot and king shark, but Arkham city contradicts that movie with dead shot

And this was cheap when they did it with Lobo, it's cheap doing it with Deadshot. He could have literally just been a new Deadshot, as it doesn't make sense that he also stole the name "Floyd Lawton." who would willing choose the name "Floyd?"

it's the whole Deadhot imposter from the comics again, in which white dude deadshot ends up fighting "Real" black dude Deadshot all over agian, only in this universe, the one that dies is the black guy.
King shark was also killed in that movie too. They gave up on source material.

It remains to be seen if it's a good one... I think it's a bit... heavy handed? I mean it still seems like there was an obvious retcon and they covered it up with an explanation but at least there is one I guess instead of just saying deal with it.

The story takes place between Arkham Origins Blackgate and Arkham Asylum and King Shark and Captain Boomerang is dead so they shouldn't be in the game.

I swore I heard somewhere that this new Deadshot came from somewhere in the multiverse and then killed the original Arkham Deadshot
Now that the game came out for a while i kinda wished this Deadshot was his replacement and the original deadshot got killed by Green Lantern or something like that
Also, this race swapping doesn't serve characters well, because any interest these drum up in the characters is going to lead to disappointment when they try some reading and it's a different character. Like people campaigning to make Iris black again when the Flash movie was talking about accurate casting, that's not the character they'll find if they go to the comics.
Batman: Assault on Arkham takes place in the Arkham universe two years before Asylum. Deadshot was a main character in that movie and its never mentioned that he's a not the original so that adds to the strangeness in canon . Also I was pretty sure that King Shark was in that movie as well and had a very different design then got his head blown off.
I find it more believable that the real dead shot was killed, and the imposter is who we play as in SSKTJL. It would explain how Batman didn’t see deadshot as an imposter in origins and city, and still makes sense with the Twitter quote. Superhero and villain identities are passed on or taken by force all the time in the comics, this makes much more sense
If I was a world famous assassin and there was some imposter taking my name and the heat off me I would tolerate it. For a while at least.

I feel like they could've just said that this is a different Deadshot with a different identity but everything else is the same and it would've gone just fine. This goes back and retcons decades of lore that just doesn't make any sense. How would Batman not know he was dealing with a fake Floyd Lawton? How could the fake be as good of a shot as Deadshot? Should've just said this was his replacement and Floyd is dead or something.
We don’t know if the fake dead shot we were fighting in the Arkham games is as good as the real dead shot and Batman probably did know he just never really had A reason to say it though
@@mikejones774 yea that first bit is true we’ll have to see how he is in this next game but Batman definitely would’ve investigated if one of his antagonists went missing and was replaced by someone equally as criminal.
@@mikejones774 Apparently the “fake” deadshot was a really skilled one. In arkham origins he could easily shoot deathstroke’s blade from the pioneer bridge. In arkham city he easily killed the political prisoner from far away. They need to explain why the fake deadshot has such skills.

Don't forget about deadshot being in the assault on arkham movie which is in the timeline, and waller didn't even know he was a fake apearently
In a world with people who turn into sharks and crocodiles, not to mention jokers skin turning white when he became the joker and ivy's skin turning green when she became ivy. They just decided Deadshot from the Arkham games was a fake who not only fooled the world's greatest detective, but joker and Hugo Strange as well. All I'm saying is people's skin color be going brrrrrr in the DC universe so they could have done that for deadshot
How about we say that this takes place in a different version of the Arkhamverse. One where Deadshot is black, Harley broke up with Joker, King Shark and Captain Boomerang(he died in the Arkham Knight tie-in comics) are still alive.
This reason gives more questions than answers tbh. 1. Assault on Arkham covered Lawton's backstory so are they gonna decanonize AoA? 2. They tryna make us believe the "real" Lawton just let the "imposter" use his name and rep for many years and risked him tarnishing it? 3. How did Batman (aka the world's greatest detective) not catch on to this at all?
I get they want audiences to familiarize the Arkhamverse Deadshot with a more well known take of him to get better sales, but this "explanation" is just sloppy in my honest opinion. They could have just explained it with "oh multiverse exists" or "meh crisis happened at some point" and at least that takes away the mental gymnastics for the most part.
