Disgaea 7 - Jumbification and Ablaze don't mix

  • Well, this is a bug I sure wish I knew about, uh, a year ago.
    Item properties Ablaze/Gusty/Freezing/Twinkle change your normal attack to become fire element, and Jumbified regular attacks activate both Mana Blade ('add 50% of INT to ATK when doing a regular attack with a sword') and Swing About ('add 1 hit when doing a regular attack')... but for some reason Ablaze/etc. don't add elements to Jumbified regular attacks.
    As you can see, despite targeting someone with 50% fire res, whether or not I have Ablaze I still deal comparable damage, and the attack preview itself also doesn't show -50% damage correction.
    You could probably go back all the way to my first Carnage Baal 4 clear and see me putting a Flame Club on an attacker (combined with Kill with Fire on supports), and some of my planned endgame equipment sets also involved Ablaze + Swing About for anti-Baal, Jumbified-regular-attack strats! I mean, that would still useful when doing non-jumbified regular attacks but still, it feels like I've wasted a lot of time over the past year or so due to not knowing about this...
    ...Though on the other hand, I guess if you use the set exclusive for Jumbified regular attacks then this means it's fine to use a Baal's Body (with innate Twinkle) with Swing About? The whole drawback behind that was that enemies never have negative star res so it was strictly worse than non-elemental attacks, but if Twinkle doesn't even apply in the first place...
