Bryan, what sets your content apart from other reports of missing people, is that every single one is a Memorial. A Memorial, beautifully and thoughfully produced. They are similar to the celebration of life/life story DVD played at the family gathering after a funeral. So many families are never able to have a proper funeral service and wake for their vanished loved one. Each story with lighted candles and pictures and beautiful scenes of flowers and forests and mountains and trails, is a Memorial gift for the familes and friends left behind..

I am Born and raised and lived in Gresham and Troutdale and went to college there. I have hiked dozens of miles in that area. The first thing I thought of was “she fell”. Those trails are so steep and rugged and you could end up in the bottom of a ravine and never be seen again.

Bryan. Alisa was my friend. When I walked into my home & saw the news story running the day they announced her missing - was the day a part of me died. Alisa was.. she was the light. She was the friend who just did. You rarely ever had to express your need, she'd pick up situations quickly & jump in. She had intuition. She had strong family values & connection. We'd tease her every so often when she was at the house & we'd decide to order some Wall Street pizza from up the street & she saw the coming duskiness of sun setting & immediately call or text her folks where & who she was with. But we always new it was for safety and that was also another thing we appreciated so much about her character. She was very independent but in all honesty I just never pictured her there going alone. Especially so close to end of day. That her family didn't know where she was to be missing that long also screams red flags of foul play. She always had her phone with her like a second arm. My belief is that she was in Tigard Christmas shopping and something happened. Why else would her cell ping from there.. drive all the way to Multnomah Falls meaning thru Portland/Lake O/Gladstone etc without another ping.. I'd have really liked to have asked those hikers who were questioned about seeing her - what her mannerisms/voice sounded/looked like. That would give a dead tell if it was really her. They had search & rescue w/ tracking dogs, helicopter fitted with flir cameras & nothing. Granted it did snow but those all should have provided an outcome should she have been there. Was he purse/wallet found at the car? Her phone? Was her cell records ever subpoenaed to see her last contact's? Was she due to meet someone? Being single I could see that she might have met up with someone but last we talked there hadn't been anyone of interest. Plus it a Christmas. And I know her sights were set on Ethan, her folks & her pretty extensive friend group. Yes. Her brother & a gentleman who had been working on the home died tragically when the house exploded. The cause hash oil with butane being made. Matt had made it out of the house & apologized to the neighbor who's porch he ended up on saying he shouldn't have started the dryer.. he succumbed to his injuries. All of it was just another stab to the heart. More sadness to a family who were kind. They had been adopted from South Korea as young children. Matt was a blazers fan with season tickets. Alisa very active in the Timbers Army. We had met back when Ethan & Riley took a swim class at Montavilla. Riley had just started kindergarten. We stayed connected through school functions at Cherry Park. Soccer with David Douglas Community Sports program. I miss going to the movies with her. I miss her voice. I miss so much about my friend. There hasn't been a day that has gone by that she is absent from my prayer. I worry that there was foul play. With so much access to water thru steam & river I fear that's where she could have ended up. Seeing the they spotted her car from a camera at Multnomah Falls begs my question was it ever reviewed to see whom actually left the car? There's just so many ill fitting pieces that it has never sat right with me. I'm thankful I had her in my life. She made me a better person. And since her disappearance I've tried my best to pick up her reigns and continue her kindness to others. While I'll know deep in my heart I'll never fill her shoes I can be bevyed with the thought of that's how I'll keep her close. It's heart warming to read the comments of others who think about her & have the same feelings. Peace to you all & most especially.. Alisa wherever you may be I hope you're at peace..

I grew up on the Columbia River in Oregon, lived in Oregon 27 years before leaving for Montana. I remember many people disappearing along the river. The river is very fast, deep and wide in the gorge. I recall one day in July 2000 I was fishing with a long time friend and we saw a very nice looking woman paddling a kayak about 50 yards off shore, matter of fact she waved at us. Few days later a woman matching her description was reported missing.
Later after reports of others seeing this woman they started searching the river, they found the kayak , then they used drivers and found her body. The County Sheriff and coroner came to the conclusion she committed suicided by drowning....Strange, very strange.

I'm so glad you covered this! On the day that her car was found, we drove past Multnomah Falls, headed to the Mt Hood area via Hood River to go tubing in the fresh snow since it was Christmas week. We saw all of the activity there and thought it might be a training exercise, but when I got home, I searched for what happened and learned about her going missing. Over the years I've thought about her and I've always been surprised at how little coverage it's gotten. My first thought was slipping and falling, since the trails are so steep and it can be very slippery. I also thought that maybe she was abducted when she got back to her car. The parking lot is a literal on and off exit on I-84. You brought up some information that I hadn't seen before. I always enjoy your thoughtful and thorough takes on things, and this one in particular just because of the off-chance passing by Mult Falls during the search. Thank you, and I hope someday her family gets some closure.

When we hear that someone who's active on social media, I hope she was telling her plans to friends only. People can be far too trusting, or they just want to share and it put things public on Facebook for example, where the wrong person could use said info for criminal intent.
Like going on vacation... you might tell a few close people ahead of time, but I would suggest not telling ALL your real life friends via media, and certainly don't tell "friends" whom you've never met.
And if you must share photos do it directly. Wait until you're back before you reveal you were on a vacation and that your home was sitting empty.
DO NOT use social media to outline your plan details of where you will be and when , unless it's close friends and family only.

That is very very good advice! Really, I never thought of the risks involved by posting on social media. I thought a personal page needed a password ,not just anybody could view it. But hackers seem to be able to go anywhere they want. .Hearing Alyssas story, I got the thought that somebody had known where to find her or folllowed her that day and abducted her.
She is a beautiful woman. I think if she was stalked, it was someone she didn’t know. Just a hunch..Every now and then I hear a story about a victim being held prisoner, and manages to get away. I hope she will be found and return to her family.

I'm from the Portland area and remember this case specifically. By the way it's pronounced Tigard like Tiger with a hard D so. The part about this story that was sad was they found a body 2 or 3 days into the search but unfortunately it was another missing woman. To me this reeks of foul play. There are alot of missing women in the Pacific NW and I'm not sure if it's human trafficking or Sasquatch but alot of these women go missing in our forests. I've done quite a bit of research on these missing women and there are a ton of similarities in these cases. I was contemplating starting a channel dedicated to missing women just in our area. I think it would help bring awareness to the amount of women and children that go missing just in the Pacific NW alone, not to mention everywhere else in our country. If you would like a guide when you come to our beautiful state I would love to be of assistance along with tons of information on other missing women in our area. Just getting the word out in different platforms I feel is the best way to help bring these people home. I can tell you do this to help bring light to these people's stories and not to just have a successful RUclips channel. If you would like to take me up on my offer, go ahead and message me back and we can exchange info and hopefully team up while your here to help these families get closure on their loved ones. A sad note to this but Alissa's brother was killed in a explosion/fire in the Portland area on July 25th 2017. So their poor parents have been thru the ringer. They deserve to know what happened to their daughter.

I think that’s why in some cases the people are found so far from where they were or where they should be, sometimes with a map and going the wrong way is because something is chasing them. But when there’s 2 or more people it’s a game changer. I bet over 50% of all these missing go missing because of other people!

Often we have met and driven customers to various locations. We were given a lot of trust with human life, which many rarely think of when trusting a "stranger" with their possessions. So, the phone last pinged in Tigard? That’s sounds odd if she left there and went back, cause if your phone is one and you are driving it will ping on different towers on the way, if the phone wasn’t turned off off course. When we track phone pings it’s pretty easy to follow the phone thru towers if you are moving and you have the phone. So in my mind, she either turned the phone off (or someone) or something happened there. If she drove back and had the phone on her and it was turned on it should most definitely have pinged on the tower closest to her position. When follow a pinging with a phone in a car it’s easy to see that you are moving fast by how fast the phone changes tower, if you are moving by foot the changes in the pinging towers will not be as quick. This one smells very very fishy to me actually, there’s something not right here in my opinion. But I really really hope that she at least will be found and brought home, and further also get answers to what happened. My love and thoughts to her family and friends.

This disappearance is reminiscent of most 411 cases. The lone person dissappears into the wilderness, without a trace. Search party is deployed, and search dogs do not pick up any scent. Major weather episode hits the search area. No body is ever recovered. Sounds like this person was taken by someone or something that may be able to move interdimensionally. Anything is possible, with these types of cases....
I think Paulides said to always carry a firearm and a beacon locator, when going to these national parks and/or wilderness locations.

Thank you Bryan for keeping these beloved missing people cases alive.
About 3 years ago in Roanoke, Va I remember reading in the local newspaper about a young female medical student that is a runner. She was doing her regular run on the greenway and a giant man got out of his car and began chasing her. She was too fast and got away. 6 weeks later she was on her regular run and the same giant man got out of his car and chased her again. She was too fast and got away again. My intuition tells me human trafficking and how easy it is to grab someone.
Recently a mother cut open her teenage daughter's brand new bras and found tracking devices in them. I have read very disturbing ways that young people are tracked while the trackers are shopping for them. Including pregnant woman. This world is so crazy.

I was a search and rescue volunteer we went out immediately as soon as we heard my son-in-law and the three dogs we searched that place like a dog does and we had plenty of help and then the weather we had gone back several times over and over those areas after the snow had melted with the dogs we had a brush dog that was a brush hog that went in and found things we had a dog that wasn't alert dog that would let us know that if there was someone there then the brush dog would go in after that they also had a cadaver dog we all went over that area and found nothing we believe after searching both areas also the Mitchell Point Trail along the gorge we came up to the conclusion that she never made it to Multnomah Falls the car made it but she didn't something happened I don't believe that she fell off the trail because we went from the top down then from the bottom up. We did our best and so did everybody that was there and came up with nothing but that conclusion most SNR people believe that strange things had occurred nobody really knows what happened for sure my heart always goes out to the family and friends because knowing nothing hurts a lot more than knowing something about where they are I have moved to the coast can retired the one that Brian talks about that was found her name was Annie Schmidt we also were involved with that one that was a horrible situation the weather was bad, the train was steep and you would have had to Rappel down to find her that's what they did we sent the dogs down but they would not go down that steep so we went up from the bottom they could not find anything cuz they could not get up in there where she was at that was sad because we could have found her sooner if only the dogs could have got up there she was in a horrible place my condolences to the families of every one of the missing people and yes he does a great job of memorializing these folks my hat's off to you please keep it up.

My thoughts are that her car was dumped at the falls. It’s not really a place to go running. Unless you’re into running up a trail where there are typically a few people. Also Tigard is in the opposite direction. There are plenty of places she could go running and not drive clear out to the gorge area. Idk, doesn’t make sense to me. I lived there for 20 years - those order of events would be more odd to me.

And as careless as everybody is these days the authorities may not even know where to start! It’s sad when the park rangers or workers from the gift shop have to call LE because of seeing the same car in the same spot several days in a row! People don’t understand that even in a wide open space where u can see for miles in any direction, u can only see so far. Like maybe a mile or less. Even then u only notice movement and are unable to define what ur looking at. Now throw in some hills, bushes, trees and u can’t see sh’””t. My point is, u can’t see what’s right around the corner or tree! I’d say half of these missing folks have runins with the worse this earth has to offer! Another human!
