I did every day straight hair, but watching this video I realized I had to stop doing it, so I went to the bathroom, I washed my hair, I looked and I said "ok I am this girl and I like it for what I am "so it's thanks to you that I am now myself thank you so much
Lana Perrie you definitely should! I stopped straightening mine a few months ago and my hair is SOO much healthier and I'm so much happier with my natural curly hair. And although it sounds crazy I'm also soooo much happier with myself in general and I'm even more confident as a person :)
Wow, my story is similar to yours. In Brazil people are obsessed about straightening their hair. Everyone uses progressiva. It cost me to come to the USA and spending 4 years at a historical black college to finally decide to embrace my hair. It is amazing how the society we live in influences how we see beauty. I still have no idea how my hair looks like since I have relaxed my hair from a very young age. I decided though I will go back to whatever my hair looks like. I only have 3 fingers grown, but I hope to hang in there. Thank you for your video. Your hair is gorgeous, and I look forward to watching more of your videos.
Your hair is just soooooo gorgeous!!! I love it!!! My hair journey has been very similar to yours! I used to hate my hair, it used to be so kinky and frizzy and thick! I straightened it and got keratin treatments but got tired of getting it re-done every few months. So I went natural and cut off all the dead ends. My hair was so short! But it grew back and today I love my hair! I rarely ever straighten it. I learned that you can fight with your hair, or take care of it and it's true beauty will show 😘
I LITERALLY RELATE SO MUCH! I used to get tons of products in fourth grade and stopped letting my mom do my braids cause people kept touching them so I started using straighteners and all that stuff caused breakage, cause no one in my family introduced me into caring for curly hair. I remember hating my curly hair cause my class all had straight hair, but now I love the world of curls and growing it out! My hair used to be past my butt but the breakage from the straighteners cause my ends to break and now my hair is shoulder length. Now I am teaching my sisters to love their curls!
You are absolutely gorgeous! Very inspirational, I use to have very curly hair but then I use to straighten it all the time and it was really damaged, so I cut it, and now I'm just letting it grow out. Glad I'm not alone! Have a beautiful day!
Thank you so much for sharing your curly hair journey. My hair is naturally curly, and I have always straightened it. each time I wear it curly, people ask me if I am tired if I am okay. You are right, I have to be patient, and wait until it grows. You are an inspiration. From now on, I am going to leave my hair curly just the way it is.
It's honestly so nice to see someone with a similar story and hair texture as myself. We're actually the same age and in high school I strengthened my hair every day because people always told me I looked better with it straight. Senior year, I won "best hair" in my yearbook, only leading me to be more self conscious of my naturally curly hair. I've never really liked my natural hair before but this past year I've left it curly and I'm slowly learning to love my hair for what it is. Thank you for your videos and for being a great inspiration
Thanks for sharing your hair journey! Glad that you have learned to love your curly hair. I love my curly coily hair, especially since I have finally learned how to take care of it.
Thank you so much for this video! I never embrace my hair and I have trouble accepting it, it used to be long and curly and as time passes it losses up and I just regret how I never like my hair when it's just gorgeous so thank you! Tbh you really help me se that it's okay to have curly hair and it can be beautiful
This video helped me so much I can't thank you enough!! I was at that stage where I really hate my curly hair, and was considering a straightening treatment, but you helped me realize that the grass isn't always greener on the other side, and I should work what I've got. There are still days when I have been frustrated with the inconvenience that came with my curls, but I RARELY flat iron my hair anymore. Thank you so much!
I had that Brazilian blow out done once also a really long time ago! I'm so happy to be embracing my curly hair now, mostly for the past year. LOVE your curly hair and your story!
OMG I'm going through the same thing right now!! I had beautiful curly hair (3b and 3c) when I was younger. I started straightening it, not knowing it was damaging my curly hair. Now I look back at pictures and home made videos of me with my long beautiful curly hair and I get so sad! I'm currently trying to transition back to my naturally curly hair and your video gave me hope! I subscribed immediately!! Wish me luck!
I know exactly everything that u had to pass!!! transitions are so hard and only whom get it in know the feelings! Now you and your hair is such an inspiration to all those girls that are looking to know theirselfes and see how pretty their natural are!
So beautiful! So much beautiful curl! And so long!!! Thank you for wearing your hair so long, and so full of curl! And Thank You for sharing this video!!!!
Yes! You saying progressiva is so correct!! Its so interesting to see how curly gurls around the world have the same problems making them decide to straight the curls...so sad to feel like that! Brazilians girls are now feeling more confidance to show their real hair! I am in transition since february and I never felt so good! Thank you to share your story, it will help so many girls!!
You have a really good hair stylist. She did an excellent job of giving you pretty highlights, without using cheap products, or being in a hurry to speed up the lightening process, which can fry your hair.
That was a great transitioning story! Beautiful hair! It's great that you are sharing this, so many people think the "straightening your hair" stigma is no big deal, when in reality, it is. My texture and curl pattern are different from yours but so many of us curlies share similar stories.😌Make more Vids!😉
It's just really nice to know I'm not alone with how I felt about my hair. I also used to hate it, and slowly I've learned to embrace it much like yourself! I also grew up around people with baby thin straight hair and then there would be me with this "lions mane" of curls and frizz! The more I think about it now, us curly gals have the victory considering we can straighten our hair for a different look, or just go natural for an entirely different look! The best of best worlds I say!!
Great video. You and I have like the exact same curl pattern and texture. I have recently been going through this experience over the last year and a half or so. I am 13 currently and all through elementary school i straightened my hair every single day and like you, I did not even know how curly my hair was until this year when I started using good products, and watching hundreds of curly hair videos, it was crazy. its just been so hard but I am finally at a good place. i currently use the Shea Moisture Coconut and Hibiscus line. It has done wonders. I am still transitioning. Im going to get my hair cut in a few weeks hopefully because my ends are still heat damaged. Thank you so much for this video. Have a great day :)
Thank you so much for this video! I also have curly hair and I was always bullied about it... it's terrible. So when I was 12 I went to get a rebond (as advised by my mom) and it went on for 8 years. Most of the time it would come out soooo flat like it had no volume and I never really did like it. So just last week I had it permed and people thought I look better with curly hair. I do wish though I had just waited for it to grow. The key is just knowing how to properly take care of it...
Love it!! Omg, recently i just, like, permanently straighten my curly hair but just because is like more or less short and just see this and really love the story and your hair and ugh, don't know what to do. All my friends was like "Why you do that? I love your curls, don't straighten" and i'm kinda regretting that. Just hope can go back to my curls soon...know it's a long process but, you know, i'm missing my curls already! Thanks for this!
You and I have a very similar story! Having that straight hair like Hilary Duff was so popular when we were younger. I'm so glad i stumbled upon this video because you and I have similar hair history and similar curl types. I too have had one too many brazilian blowouts (which have damaged my curls but I still have some curl left). What really ruined my hair was a relaxer I received years back. Anyways, I finally have cut off some of the last inches of the relaxer/severe damage and I'm ready to transition back to a more inexpensive and healthier option. Hope I can get my curls as gorgeous as yours! Thanks for being such a beautiful inspiration as I transition back to curly hair.
I'm 16 rn and I've been straightening my hair so long and recently I was like SCREW it, I don't want to be bald by 20 I've been wearing my hair curly and it's just so crazy how just knowing how to treat my air has changed it completely.
Ohhh my God, thats exactly what happend to me, I straight my hair when I start College, I use Matrix Opti Smooth in 2005 and was with straight hair about 10 years, last year I decided to let my natural curly hair style and everybody in my work was surprised, anybody knows my hair was curly and I'm so happy. Finally I accept my hair and love it. Hi from Puerto Rico :)
Omg girl we have the same story. I used to rebond my hair all the time. But since I moved to US, but I started transitioning. My hair right now is short, it's like up to my shoulder now and it's just been a year since I started transitioning. I used flat iron while transitioning because it's kind of awkward like my roots are curly and the ends are straight. I started to cut it when it was long enough and watched enough RUclips videos and used products. People didn't even know I was curly and received compliments. Sometimes I still straight it. Idk but I think we have the same hair texture but just in the back part of my hair bc I have a mixed texture. I'm 16 and still learning about my hair and I recently dyed it grey/silver. Btw I love your hair. It's so long and healthy 😊😊😊
Omg I want your hair it's so big and lush and long and pretty, you could do a lot of different types of hairstyles and your hair texture would make them pop!
Love the video, im in the same situation, I've had really long, thick hair my whole life curly everywhere but on the top layer! I didnt even consider myself a curly hair person....well i cut it and let me tell you its beautiful! curly top and bottom, bouncy curls. So now i treat it as curly hair should be, cowash, condition and no silicone or sulfates! love your hair !
I'm going though the transition of trying to grow out my hair and I have pin straight ends but really curly roots (as curly as your hair) and you are so right about how your confidence level just drops and it's so hard to not straighten it but thanks for helping me through this process.
I feel so identified with you the same thing happened to me in my country and even when I moved here I still straighten my hair I got one relaxer and the rest I'd straighten and as it grew i would always straightened alway until recently in the beginning of the summer I decided to leave it curly just for the summer and I didn't know how to wear it either I had to learn so I how to wear it so I made so research and by watching RUclips vid I realized that I should just leave my hair naturally curly random people opened my eyes and made me see that my hair is beautiful my friends and family would complement me often and although this was only 4 months ago because I am barely starting I made my decision to leave my hair curly and it literally wavy like yours although mine is less curly because I had been straightening my for 5 years once a week every week now I just got out of high school so is good that I don't have to go through the transition there, I really liked your video thanks ‼️
It's crazy how your Brazilian which is one of the most mixed places on earth(which is cool)and you felt uncomfortable/insecure with your BEAUTIFUL hair, glad you love it now I can totally relate as a fellow curly girl.
You are amazing and so so beautiful! your hair is freaking gorgeous. I know exactly what you went through. I was always straightening my hair because i didn't want my curly hair. I wanted my hair to look straight like all the other girls hair in my class. my mom didn't know how to care for curly hair because nobody in my family has curly hair! But, i have learned to love and embrace my curly hair:) i love it, it took me a while to get it healthy again but it was worth the wait and management. it looks better than ever before! your curls are beautiful!
I began my transition four months ago. And i disnt know how to style my hair cz its like curly from the roots and the rest is like straight/wavy so i keep my hair in a bun . Before starting my transition i was that girl with long straight hair , but then, i felt so ugly and unconfident. And now your story gave me hope again, thank you so much. Your hair is so beautiful, and so are you.
u totally inspired me to stay strong 💚 I had dreads and now I am 1 year into transitioning. My hair is getting there 😊 I just went heat free 2/3 months ago. ty
This really helped! I am going into 8th grade and i use to straighten my hair everyday last year cause i never liked it and when it was curly i would ALWAYS have it up! and now im really starting to like my hair!
Your hair is so beautiful I'm brazilian and i decided to do progressive when i was like 10 and the same thing happened to me with my hair being curly in the roots and i hated it and so 2 months ago i cut my hair to my shoulders and its finally curly just waiting for it to grow. Thank you for this video this motivates me to stop straightening my hair.
Im a white british girl with curly red hair. When I was in school GHD straighters where a huge deal and there was no youtube so I had literally no guidance, it was a real battle. I was one of only 2 people with curly hair in my school, the other being my sister! I know the struggle. Then a few years after leaving school curly hair is in so it was worth the struggle!!
If I could keep putting a thumbs up I would, I would feel ugly when I went out to parties with my friends that. Had gorgeous long straight locks and I was stuck with curly hair but il earned to love it eventually your hair is gorgeous now and so worth each cut !!! Your hair looks super thick and you have my ideal length !!!
Your hair is really pretty and we have a similar story! Right now im going through that transitioning and trying to love my natural curly hair! This inspires me so much! Oh and i enjoy watching all your videos too! Good work :)
I'm so glad I found your channel! I love your hair!! I been growing out my hair heat free and chemical free since January. We have the same hair texture, so exciting to find your channel. Make more videos :) new sub!
im going to 10th grade in a couple days and my hair has been permed for 2 years maybe getting 5 perms or so.I noticed how much damage my hair has gotten and i havent permed for a whole year. all my hair is curly except the last inch. I still straighten my hair because i love the look of it. Its just so pretty.. But i really want to love my curly hair. This video has helped me thank you
I had a hard time accepting my natural hair too! When I was a kid my mum kept cutting them really short because she didn't not how to deal with them since she's straight hair and I literally looked like a walking bush. Then one day I had them long enough and did a ponytail, I liked it and did it EVERY DAY for like 4 years. I even slept with the ponytail. Then again one day I tried to let them "free" and everybody was staring at me because they always saw me with the ponytail, but I liked it and started taking more care of my hair. Now I have the longest hair I've ever had and I'm planning to let them grow more so I can donate them the next time I cut them :)
hey! i just wanted to tell you that you motivated me to keep not straightnigen my hair to let it become naturaly curly again! thank you it does look still alittle weird still but now i know it going to be worth it! thank you
I am starting as of today to embrace my curls - not easy - you have to be really patient!! But I have no choice my hair has gone so damaged - thin and looks awful from all the years of blow waving it!!!! Thanks for your video - your hair looks gorgeous
I can relate to this so much. I'm trying to get my hair back to curly again. I may have to cut it short because of the Brazilian treatment I did as well. Btw you are gorgeous. I love Brazilians!
When you were growing it how was it cut? Did you have short layers or were you going for the long layers in your hair. Also how is your hair cut now?? Please help.
I always thought my hair looked kind of awkward. I loved my hair even then, I was just confused. It didn't look straight but it didn't look wavy or curly either. Then when I learned that curly hair is dominant and straight hair is recessive, I remembered that my mom had curly hair. and my dad's was a bit wavy. So I figured that maybe my hair looked awkward because it was trying to wave up and curl some. So I started scrunching and now I have a head of 2c-ish hair, and it's almost down to my nipples! Sometimes I'll straighten it by putting it into pigtails with elastics going down to the ends. But that takes forever and involves a lot of manipulation. It's easier to comb/brush after washing it to pull it down to a slight wavy state. But I love scrunching it up into a wavy masterpiece!
I have curly hair too but it is soooooooo hard to maintain it cuz it's so much curlier and shorter than yours, I hope it grows so I can find a way to deal with it cuz I'm really sick of chemically straightening it. Love ya
I'm going through the transitioning phase right now. Half curly half straight and at the same time battling the humidity in Singapore. Trying to stay positive through the negative comments I get at times. Thanks for your video, it made me feel better :)
Girl your naturally beautiful, unique. Thats so me right now going gym, i see all them girls with straight hairs and theres me try to rock my curls with a bun hah
I stopped straightening my hair for six weeks and I preferred it curly because it's just so much easier. I much prefer my hair now I had a lot cut off just so I could remove the ends and I'm so much happier.
My hair is very similar to yours, its a bit thicker but it has multiple loose and ringlet textures just like yours. I cant wait till its as long as yours :) you're absolutely gorgeous btw!!
Thank you so much for putting in photos of your hair while you were transitioning to curly hair! I saw your video a year ago and it really helped me when I stopped straightening my hair every day after 4 years and started leaving it curly. I stopped straightening my hair about a year ago but my hair is straight at the ends still, I cut a lot of it off as it grew but it is still sort of straight for the last 4-5 inches of my hair. Did you find that your hair was like that for very long? How long did the transitioning process take you?
You look like a young Jennifer Lopez. I cut my hair last year because it got cut in my hair but now that it growing back I find that it's not as thick as it once was. Do you think a supplement will make my hair thicker again as well as longer? Do you take something for your hair if so what?
Tracey Escobar search "no heat curly hair tutorials" on here. I just found a girl the other day: MakeupWearablesHairstyles. And her hair is super straight! I don't know how I found her. I don't have straight hair, lol!
My hair has always been curly my whole life and I hate it it was so curly and I thought i looked hideous because everyone i knew had straight hair and i hated going to the pool bc i didn't want my hard work of straightening it to disappear so since last year I've just had it with straightening it and doing deep conditioning treatments and letting it out curly and people like it... I've never felt so much confidence and not worrying about it looking bad because curly hair is pretty!
I did every day straight hair, but watching this video I realized I had to stop doing it, so I went to the bathroom, I washed my hair, I looked and I said "ok I am this girl and I like it for what I am "so it's thanks to you that I am now myself
thank you so much
This makes me so happy 💙
sofiele * ohh, I think I will quit straighting my hair now. Do you go outside with yoir naturali hair now?
sofiele * natural*
Lana Perrie you definitely should! I stopped straightening mine a few months ago and my hair is SOO much healthier and I'm so much happier with my natural curly hair. And although it sounds crazy I'm also soooo much happier with myself in general and I'm even more confident as a person :)

Nadia's Art and Beauty That was beautiful, completely agreed! Thank you for the compliments
Nathi Hi Nathi, what is your curly hair type? 3a, 3b or 3c?
Nathi oh and i forgot to ask you, what kind of straightener or relaxer did your hairdresser used to straighten your hair?
Mandyo1o its a mix of those three actually!! haha and I used "progressiva"
Thanks for sharing your hair journey! Glad that you have learned to love your curly hair. I love my curly coily hair, especially since I have finally learned how to take care of it.

Maria Lucia Garzón P At least you decided fast that you want to go back to curly hair, hold on to it and be strong in the journey
I like that you said "enjoy every length". I'm trying to grow my hair longer and I think that will make the process of growing less daunting!

So now i treat it as curly hair should be, cowash, condition and no silicone or sulfates! love your hair !
your curls are soo beautiful
this helped tons im in that transition stage but step by step I'll embrace my curly hair. you're gorgeous love you
Julia Rosas Yes! thank you
I'm going though the transition of trying to grow out my hair and I have pin straight ends but really curly roots (as curly as your hair) and you are so right about how your confidence level just drops and it's so hard to not straighten it but thanks for helping me through this process.
Thank you for making this video!
Your hair is so beautiful, and so are you.
what did you put in your hair to make it curly?
Girl you are so pretty! Damn! It is just cute that you have curly hair! SLAY! Ilysm
Im so inlove with ur hair , and u have inspired me sooo much to continue on w/ my natural hair journey
u totally inspired me to stay strong 💚 I had dreads and now I am 1 year into transitioning.
Caro Vivern Im so glad I could inspire you
This is exactly what I was looking for, thank you! 🙌

im going to 10th grade in a couple days and my hair has been permed for 2 years maybe getting 5 perms or so.I noticed how much damage my hair has gotten and i havent permed for a whole year. all my hair is curly except the last inch. I still straighten my hair because i love the look of it. Its just so pretty.. But i really want to love my curly hair. This video has helped me thank you
I had the EXACT journey. I did progressiva too! The exact same journey, that's so crazy!!! I love your hair você e muinto bonita!!!
i love your hair!!!! my hair has looser curls but they are still tight curls if that makes any sense and ur length and everything its just goalsss
In love with your hair!!!!!!!! Haha. Just had to say that. Now I'mma finish the video. :)
Thanks for sharing your experience, I´m planning on embracing my natural curls so your video was inspiring to me! :)
I needed this!! Your hair is soooo gorgeous and so are you!
hey! i just wanted to tell you that you motivated me to keep not straightnigen my hair to let it become naturaly curly again! thank you it does look still alittle weird still but now i know it going to be worth it! thank you
I am starting as of today to embrace my curls - not easy - you have to be really patient!! But I have no choice my hair has gone so damaged - thin and looks awful from all the years of blow waving it!!!! Thanks for your video - your hair looks gorgeous
This video really helped me so much. Thank you! I've been needing something like this
I can relate to this so much.
***** I still had long layers throughout my transition until i chopped it off :)
You are soo gorgeous omg! Ur skin as well as ur hair look perfect🤗 XOXO 💕
This is the story of my life I have always been so sensitive about this subject forever
This was such a great video, really helpful, looking forward to seeing more curlŷ hair videos from you x
I had straight hair and i hated it. Then i started to transition and now its beautiful
Girl your naturally beautiful, unique. Thats so me right now going gym, i see all them girls with straight hairs and theres me try to rock my curls with a bun hah
How do you cut your hair? My hair is very similar and I really really love the way yours is cut! You're beautiful btw inside and out!
ClumsieBird Thank you so much love
omggggggg your hair is goals i cut my hair and had a "balayage" and it's so damaged but i hope i can get to your length. I love it. f
I stopped straightening my hair for six weeks and I preferred it curly because it's just so much easier. I much prefer my hair now I had a lot cut off just so I could remove the ends and I'm so much happier.
Your hair is so beautiful! Pls post more vids about natural treatments.
I love how the blonde adds dimension to the curls. What product did you use to get the highlights? Was there any damage?
I can relate so much I hated my curly hair until about 6 months ago and know I love my curly hair xx
Amazing channel! I just watched all your videos, you're the first curly vegan youtuber I found, do more videos!!
Your hair is beautiful 😍. My current goal is to get my hair like that. It just takes so much maintenance 😧. I'm willing to do the work.
You look like a young Jennifer Lopez. I cut my hair last year because it got cut in my hair but now that it growing back I find that it's not as thick as it once was. Do you think a supplement will make my hair thicker again as well as longer? Do you take something for your hair if so what?
I have the exact same story. I rebonded my hair for 4 years. Then i just cut all the straight part off a month ago and now im just embracing my curls.
I have straight/wavy hair but I really want curly hair like yours. What can I do to get curly hair without damaging the hair?
Tracey Escobar search "no heat curly hair tutorials" on here. I just found a girl the other day: MakeupWearablesHairstyles. And her hair is super straight! I don't know how I found her. I don't have straight hair, lol!
You should do a "My morning routine " video 😀 btw you are beautiful! Love your hair so much! Truly an inspiration to me and others! Besitos 😊😊😊
Hey I love tour videos, yogur hair is suuuper beautiful🙆🏽
