I am amazed by your fantastic play. One can only describe it as "noble". I really enjoyed listening and being able to enjoy this wonderful Choral by César Franck in A minor. I find the camera work in the video really wonderful, which plays with the different perspectives. It is wonderful to watch you play. The performance exudes a great calm.
May this organ be roaring again soon! My proposed programme. JS Bach - Fantasy and Fugue BWV542 F Liszt - Fantasy and Fugue on "Ad nos, ad salutare undam" M Reger - Fantasy on the chorale "Straf mich nicht, in deinem Zorn" L Vierne - Symphony III (full) Encores - Improvisatons on given themes
It is a pity that this recording is monophonic, but the performance is impeccable, as usual with Olivier ! I am currently learning this Choral, that I hope to be able to add in my YT channel in some months. In my opinion, it is the most beautiful Franck's piece, which would deserve to be included in the 20 best masterpieces in the organ repertoire !
This is the last piece of music composed by Cesar Franck before his fatal accident and he definitely went out in a blaze of glory. While all three chorales possess that majesty of harmony that is uniquely Franck's alone, each one highlights a different musical aspect: The first chorale - melody; the second chorale - counterpoint; the third chorale - rhapsody.
Now, some time after the disastrous fire, what has happened to protect this amazing Organ? So very little news on this particular front has leaked out. I remember the new Console being winched up into position only a short while ago . . . . and the great care that was taken over the humidity and temperature of the whole instrument - how has this been addressed - in short: 'How are things?' It is now 23rd. March 2021.
The organ is being meticulously cared for. Every pipe will be cleaned to remove ash and lead dust and carefully crated along with all of the other components. When the Cathedral is ready, the organ will also be ready!
An amazing interpretation of this wonderful Cesar Franck 3rd Choral Prelude. When the Console at Notre Dame de Paris was rebuilt the Pedal board was not updated to the radiating RCO Pedalboard. I wonder why that was?
It is not an update. It's because historical organs have a flat pedalboard. In music academies or some churches where organ sing, you find a radial concave pedalboard though.
The French rejected Royal Authority in their "Revolution", so no RCO ! However, if French Premier Guy Mollet's suggestion that Queen Elizabeth II should become Head of State of France in 1956 had been enacted, things might have been different for French pedalboards!
This organ is no longer a Caville-Coll. It was Baroqued by Pierre Cochereau and this console installed many years ago. The only original is in St. Sulpice
I realize that I have the tendency to rush the 16th notes in this work, as if I played on a piano. Actually, like with romantic or symphonic pieces, we have to be careful with the tempi if we want to keep the way of playing of romantical time, and consider the reverberation of big churches.
Very moving to see and listen to the organ of Notre Dame
Such a classic piece! Oliver plays it perfectly!!
Olivier.
Fascinating choice of registrations and tempi on the various sections of this Franck masterpiece by a French virtuoso of the instrument.
Magnifique, et le tempo parfait
Que maravilloso!!! amazing Olivier Latry!!!
I just adore when an organist plays Franck "a memory".
In my opinion, this man is playing from the heart, thus, in a small way, becomes the music.

Absolutely amazing!
Magnifique M. Latry, quelle maîtrise ❤️👌
My favourite performance of the magnificent piece.

Stupendo. Grande Olivier! 💕

I like your voicing ...very interesting. It is appreciated when all the notes are clear, especially resolutions.
Wonderful interpretation!
Excellent...what more can I say?

Father, Son and Holy Ghost!
What a beautiful playing
I do not know. It was about the last of the A. C-C organs that were untouched. Notre Dame is definitely altered by Pierre Cochereau.
Arte total -Extraordinario
love this version wow Oliver thanks
the greatest of all organ works (sorry Bach). I listen to this youtube recording a couple of times a week. It is so well done.
Listen to the transcription of Liszt's "St. Francis walking on the waves." Also a stunner

Einfach herrlich😍
All hail the Great King of Paris! (Organ of Notre Dame). ❤️❤️❤️🎶🎶🎶.
thank you for posting this and for, what for me is a truly transcendant moment everytime I cue this up.
Beautiful playing.

Bellissimo
BROUGHT TO LIFE

European organists are used to this kind of pedal board. It also makes playing a glissando easier.
@@brucetominello325 Right, in Europe we don't use radial pedal board. Many pedal boards are not even curved, they are still flat.

5:12 me still waiting for the improvisation ends and the composition for ORGAN starts ; )
This piece should be played first when this wonderful organ starts working again in 2025

@@organbuilder272 Is St-Sernin in Toulouse still original??

Greetings from Istanbul, Turkey :)
he is so serious
A tad too quick for me!
10:25 onwards: I don't have the score now but don't recall there's accelerando at the end of this section.
❤️
I would liked to have heard some stringy sounded stops
There's none in this piece. It's all flutes and reeds
Played to fast in this acoustic and it will sound like mush.
It’s not the most appealing lol
