Absolutely amazing cue ball control and object ball planting. This man is the goat. Efren Reyes is on pocket billiards with small balls. The Rocket is in the overall to me. 12 foot shots! Five rail cue ball rolls for perfect position. Essentially, all of you snooker guys are the best and Ronnie is the best of you all. This from guy in India . Don't ever hear you guys complaining about room humidity. Over here there are guys that complain about silly stuff like that on smaller tables with larger balls that sit on the cloth with more mass. and some idiot is trying to start a tradition of jumping up on the table if they win a match. Don't see you guys doing that either. I saw an outsider dump a bunch of colored powder on a table there once, interrupting a match. But other than that, you guys have a quite honorable, respectful attitude and conduct toward the whole thing. Spot on, as they say.

Watching this channel, I was pushed into (the pool table was taken!) playing snooker yesterday and man, it's so hard! In awe of how the pros do it so effortlessly. The cushions are so quick on a club table. Thanks again for the great content!

Si Jiahui stunned the snooker world with his run to the World Snooker Championship semi final.
And that Belgium's Luca Brecel became the first player from mainland Europe to claim snooker's World Championship with
an 18-15 win over Mark Selby in Sheffield.
And my bold prediction for 2024 is that Si Jiahui become world champion.😛

Thanks for all the great entertainment and for sharing so many great snooker stars so that we the adoring public can actually see their true personalities. Love this channel as an avid snooker fan. Not sure how it would work but it would be great to see Stephen Hendry, our best ever, going round giving kudos to clubs trying to create the next generation in Scotland. Could be a side channel. I used to play in Craigpark Masters where John Higgins practiced but we've lost that but there is a great club in Bathgate that deserves recognition for trying to promote snooker the right way. Would be great to see these clubs get supported.

Judd is boring. Frankly, if Ronnie isn't playing anymore, then snooker will be boring because he's the most charismatic and wonderful to watch after Alex Higgins,a man after my own heart (RIP). Without him it is like you're breaking off with your girlfriend or wife. Life will be miserable. Hope Ronnie stays in great health and he can contribute so much fun and enjoyment in snooker.

Love the channel, would love to see an episode that covers when visiting a club how to know if a table is fast or slow, how to pick a cue from club cues and anything else to look out for when visiting a club for the first time
‘You’d have found me in a ditch somewhere’ hilarious
I’ve heard several times on this channel from Stephen and other players questioning Shaun Murphy’s punditry affecting his success in tournaments. Seems kind of unfair how much criticism he gets for it when Ronnie is doing the exact same thing on another broadcaster.
Before people get butt hurt that I mentioned Ronnie and say “But he’s winning though” (Which is True lol) Shaun has also been successful winning ranking titles and making a World Final whilst doing the “Punditry”. If he thought it was distracting him so much then I’m sure he wouldn’t do it and end of the day we can’t make that judgement coz we are not in his mind and only he knows how he feels.
Secondly it’s good for the sport of Snooker to grow. We need new voices and Shaun is good imo in the comms box and it’s nice to see a top player give analysis because regardless how you slice it, Shaun is a top 16 player by right.
The reason I mentioned this is because the criticism is unfair imo. It’s funny how nobody questions Judd when he did commentary or Jack Lisowski or Mark Allen or Kyren Wilson. I have no problem at all these guys doing commentary and yes they do it nowhere near as much as Shaun but if you want to be all nitty gritty then Why don’t people question Why Allen is there in comms box? Shouldn’t he be more focused to winning a world title? Why is Lisowski anywhere near that side of things, he should be practicing more to win that ranking title. Why is Judd there? He should be focused on winning more TCs. Why is Wilson there at all? He hasn’t even won a worlds. He should be training to better himself as a player.
The point is nobody would say any of these things because it’s just nit picking and everyone seems to do that with Shaun and it’s unfair. Let him do what he enjoys and it’s not like he hasn’t won anything since doing Punditry. More than some of those names I’ve mentioned lol.

Ronnie commentates when he’s out. He also plays half the tournaments because he’s 47 and won them all.shaun needs to focus on just trying to win.

Perhaps Hui but with 7 world titles, Ronnie could argue that his punditry has helped. Ronnie doesn't really commentate though so doesn't have to concentrate as much and more importantly when he's still in say the last 4 at the Crucible, he doesn't do Eurosport.

Just because we no longer see the older player on tour doesn't mean they no longer play the game. They are all still very capable on the right day. Sure Ray Reardon hit a century break just before Christmas at the age of 91. Class is permanent.

I always love the fact that Stephen goes straight for the long ball no matter what...Some habits just don't go away. Zero practice for years, yet still the mentality is there.
8:35 in a lot of sports you have to rest before a tournament. In powerlifting for example you accumulate fatigue and then the week before the meet you do less. You are supposed to do that.

Hi Stephen, would it be possible to do a video testing out different cues? I'm specifically interested to see something really getting into testing out the differences in feel, playability and throw etc of ash and maple wood on cues of the same spec. This could also be perfect for then doing some tests on the new titanium ferrule compared with brass?
There is a surprising lack of quality content that really discusses these differences, let alone demonstrates them practically.

Yeah, I've played with mostly ash cues but tried a couple of maple cues in the past too. Never had the resources to just be able to try out two otherwise identical cues but in both ash and maple, so never really known what the difference is. Deffo never seen any definitive tests done on video of the difference in throw between titanium and brass ferrules. This surely has to be done!

I always see Judd play with 60 % luck,and 40% ability. He hits hard and hope because 6 pockets. When long shots don't go in he is a very average player.We saw how Mark Allen destroyed him 10-3..On the other hand watch how better Ronnie & Hendry play, they are far far better.

Barry Hawkin has won some epic matches -- like the in the world's a few years ago (where he beat Ronnie). But it seems to take so much out of him, that he then loses the following match.

7:17 I have to agree. Maybe from the opposite side. As Hendry knows, since he’s become one of the best, commentating is real work, not a casual thing you fit in when you’re not playing. How can Murphy give it his best behind the mike?
And, of course, from the playing side, he should be focusing on his game, regardless of the career he wants in the future. Which would also show his fans more respect.
Each to their own John and Murphy says it helps him but I'm with you. If winning the title is the aim - and it surely must be ? - then surely their must be betters ways of preparing beteween matches than sitting down in a chair for 2/3 hours and watching and commentating on 8 frames of snooker ?

brecel never won a match at the crucible so what on earth is wrong with trying something completely different? he had nothing to lose. perry sounds like an 80 year old religious grandparent with all sorts of arbitrary "rules" in life that make no sense but they put down anyone who breaks them.
Just makes a mockery of the biggest tournament of the year to turn up and win it without potting a single ball in preparation. There’s probably also a hint of jealousy from Joe, who has worked hard all his career and never won it, but it’s still a bad look for the sport for someone to win the top prize with zero practice beforehand
@@johnwhittaker311 it just shows that a lot of the game is mental. not sure how that makes what brecel did was wrong though? he tricked himself into playing well by taking the pressure off. no practise = no expectations. perfectly understandable phenomenon and hence to me does not make a mockery of the game. it's understandable. players often pull off amazing shots once the frame is already won for the exact same reason. even if it did make a mockery of it that's not brecels doing. that's just the game. every other player has the option to try that. probably won't work again as now he can't associate no practise with no expectations since he won it that way.

I've been following snooker for 20+ years and I want to ask you about the role of rivalries in the game. How much did playing Jimmy White contribute to your success or how much did playing Mark Selby contribute to Ronnie's success and vice versa? I think it's only fans who make rivalries look sour, but there is a great positive effect for players and for the sport as well.

I remember when I was young, c. 2001-2ish, Davis and Parrott would be off pundit duty for a day or so to get knocked out in round 1 of the World Championship. They were already in their halcyon years by then. Murphy definitely sacrificing something by being a pundit while still playing at high level... Not like there's a shortage! Angles is great, they should get him back on the beeb instead of them giving Shaun a platform or he'll never win a big event again.

People always talk about how Neil Robertson has only won one World Championship, but Shaun Murphy should really have had three given his talent. When I think of the best shots I've ever seen, he's been responsible for several of them. The commentary thing does seem an odd choice, but he's the one who decides, so what do I know.
Robertson has won 11 more ranking events than Murphy though. He’s made 36 finals to Murphy’s 26. Robertson seems to fly under the radar in terms of the greatest players ever. Even in the modern day he doesn’t seem to get mentioned with Selby and Trump but he’s up there.

Thankyou Stephen for your amazing channel this year. In the new year im going to work hard on this CTE aiming system next year as ive exhausted all avenues on technique but never really blamed my aiming.
Have you heard about CTE as an aiming system Stephen? And if so what are your thoughts?
I switched to using CTE about 3 years ago. It improved my potting so much! It takes some time getting used to it and finding how to make it work for you. The pivot is what throws players off. Some pivot while dropping into their shot, others see it while up. I go down looking at the center of the white and edge of the object then pivot slightly when down/halfway down. It’s tough to explain, but have a go at it for sure.
