"makes it feel like there's nothing happening and so much happening at the same time" encapsulates the sound of this album so well, fantastic review

The Ooz is so underrated, one of the few albums I consider to be almost perfect
the mood on it is insane. i felt like this album was to the man alive is more like the ooze was to 6ft deep beneath the moon. i love it
anthony fantano i will fight u
@@westerliedHe was tripping in that review. The OOZ is a 9/10.
Same here!!!
It is perfect
i really like the lyrics of the title track, where he would rather drink all the water out of the lake through a straw than accept help from someone else
love hearing your thoughts as always. Man Alive! is one of my all time favorite albums, and while I wasn’t quite as moved by this one on first and second listen, I can appreciate it for its place in his wider discography. his old music is still around for those seeking more intensity, but this time around Archy’s exploring those feelings from an entirely different angle.
I think these are some of his least complex lyrics, but these songs aren’t meant to be memorized and screamed at a concert, they’re meant to be reflected upon. it’s hard to get into the right headspace to hear them, but I think these songs have a deeper emotional resonance that can only be felt when you strip away your expectations and let your thoughts sync up and amplify with all the beautiful and sad and haunting and yearning the album presents.
I could probably listen to you talk about this album all day. The tortoise of independency is my favorite song in the mix, more of a poem than a song
I like King Krule (especially when he's in Tom Waits mode), although I really need to be prepared and in a very specific mood to listen to him. Still have to catch up with this new release.. I can't stop listening to Ultimate Success Today by Protomartyr! Such a good album, you were right about it
You have a great way of communicating, thank you for your analysis!!
2023: A Heavy Space Odyssey 😂
Your channel is one of my favorites. Thank you for sharing 🙏❤️
Love the term 'break line' it fits so perfectly and I kept forgetting that it was a term you'd created rather than an accepted piece of music terminology!
Bishop's Gate is mentioned in The Beatles' Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite also. Great review! I'm just getting into this album today. A lot to unpack for sure.
Squid is great too (would love to hear your take on them) but am happy you reviewed King Krule. I’ve been meaning to listen to more of them and this moved them to the top of my next up.
lovely video mate
his performance on letterman is one of my favorite late night spots of all time. watch it once a month
25:14 funnily enough since nowhere in the UK is more than 70 miles away from the coast we have seagulls everywhere not just by the sea
great video
Usually give a thumbs up on your videos, but on this one it was a must just for that open relationship bit. Hilarious
Great album. I was pleasantly surprised.
Was your mind blown like mine when you beat King K in DK1 and they come back to life post credits? Good memories.
A fellow Game and Watch main? I salute you sir
hiya Skye, I just finished reading East of Eden (I decided to pick it up after you recommended it in one of your videos), and was wondering if you 'd ever consider making a video about it on the side channel? really enjoyed reading it, and would love to hear your thoughts!
Please do a Mr. Game and Watch strategy video
Dear Professor Skye, please consider listening to (and maybe reviewing?!) Victory Music by RealYungPhil. It features a very left-field production by Gud and Woesum, two Swedish producers from Sad Boys and Drain Gang collectives respectively. I find this work to be very poetic, avant-garde and culturally important, and I would love to hear some of your thoughts about it. Even the album title, Victory Music, has such a ring to it!
Anyways, AVAA and sorry if I’m overexplaining, I just wanted to grab your attention to this project 🙂

The crazy part is i am currently listening to this video while playing smash bros
Also I highly recommend the ooz (i just finished listening to it and i looked up professor skye king krule, this is what brought me into this video)
fantastic review. one theme that felt apparent to me was that of climate crisis. You got close to it with talking about feeling humanity has made a mistake and we need to go back - but lines about the world falling apart and repeated mentions of fire and burning and loss of faith throughout the album feels like it’s a factor that plays into the feeling like ‘we need to go back to the swamp’. perhaps seeing it as a cause for the 2001 like cycle to start again and go back to the beginning
Those are my thoughts. I thought this review was extremely insightful and brought to light much i had not realized about the album - and for that i’m excited to watch the rest of your content
I agree that’s a moment happening in Seaforth but it seems more like an instance in the Album rather than a theme. Like “my coldness and space I feel in my relationship is at the forefront of my mind. Oh and also the planet is dying”. Like more of an afterthought kinda thing but he def does allude to it and I could see the comparison with the themes of From the Swamp
At least a few mentions of this on man alive!
Funny you say that because this whole album screams romantic relationship that has fallen apart post having a baby. It’s a more mature progression from previous albums
And “from the swamp” seems like his bad memories from this relationship. As if those memories need to be discarded into his swamp (back of his head) whenever they come up.
PLZ REVIEW CHRISTINE AND THE QUEENS
The poem at 29:13 is from where? Is it Shakespeare? Freaking beautiful!
Darn, still don’t not knowing not where that poem ain’t from, heckling lord and stuff =P

This album is great but at the same time I think Archy stayed a little too in his Q-Zone. Hope he does something different in the future because he has the talent and originality to pull it off.
They just needed Jeff Chris to be flown down from Indiana to mix it professionally.

I personally am not fond of the record, i was hoping for a bit more intensity or maybe less one dimensional instrumentals but I’m glad others like it
