    Great, at age 64 I finally discover what I wish my next career should be. Not sure how successful I would be, living in southwest Michigan so I may just start creating hats for myself. I can’t wait to see more.

    Glueing the Russian veiling is genius! How have I lived this longer and not known this technique?!? Thank you for such detailed information about how to do it.

    Any guidance on the best way to attach this piece to the head? I was going to use hat elastic but I see you used a wire attachment of some sort. Your video is excellent, thank you for sharing your knowledge

    • @StitchingVulture
      @StitchingVulture  2 года назад

      You can use hat elastic, but it needs to be the kind with the barbs on the end. Once the hat is complete, place the elastic barbs on either side of the dent on the back of the hat. As long as you keep tension on the forehead, it should work. You might need to use two elastics to get more solid tension. Just position the second one just under the first. I have a video on how to construct a cocktail hat on a headband in my video listing. I also have a video on making a headband, and one on wiring this type of hat.

    Can this veil be used to edge a hat with a very large brim? Like a sun hat?

    • @StitchingVulture
      @StitchingVulture  2 года назад

      I wouldn't recommend it as you might lose structural integrity as it gets wider.

    Are the blocks used in this video a set or no? Specifically, what type is used for the bottom portion?

    • @StitchingVulture
      @StitchingVulture  4 года назад +1

      It's the same block for both the top and bottom parts. The one on the bottom, that rests against the head, is dented to contour to the forehead with a smaller button block, but it could also be dented with a small bowl or ball.

      You can get Teflon baking sheets online. You can also look at scrapbooking websites. Sometimes they sell them too.
