When I grow up, I want to play guitar as well as you!! (Not gonna happen, I'm 62). As a lifelong player returning after a 10 year hiatus, I cannot tell you how much your Riff of the Day lessons have inspired & taught me. THANK YOU!! Please keep them coming!!
I had the honor of meeting Keith Richards in 2002, and I asked him if he remembered what gear he used on this originally, he said he used a 59 les Paul and a fuzz tone pedal, and it was really a accident, he was very.cool and easy to talk to.
I’m guessing he probably used that Les Paul with a Bigsby that you can find some pictures of him playing. I think he also played it for their cover of Chuck Berry‘s around and around.
Carl Hardwick For real, most guys can play the main riff right (its pretty straightforward) but when it gets to the verses theyre strumming open chords and making it sound like ass. Andy knows what hes doing
A trully brilliant musician and a flawless tutor....Andy, I do hope you read through your comments and you never get sick of hearing it: "Without your videos and your genial inside into every aspect of being a guitar player, I would have sucked badly at being an indvidual and creative player"
Watching the Stones performing Satisfaction on Shindig,1965. Keith is playing a Reverse Firebird, plays the riff on the bottom E string i.e. 7th fret,interesting...
The clean tone here is unique, Guess the Deluxe amp is key for this twangy with softer highs than usual, kind of boxy but very 60s and pleasant. Hard to achieve with another equipment, it is like the speakers are compressing the signal
Kewl. I also use an EHX pedal for this riff, but in my case it is a germanium muff. I also sag it with a built in voltage knob for this kind of fuzz effect.
Let me tell you something about guitar playing in traditional acoustic or rock design. Everyone's got their own character and abilities, and that's the one thing that's amazed me personally about guitar actively playing since the day I first picked it up. I started my learning from getstartedguitar.com . Everybody's approach to what can come out associated with six strings is different from another person, but it's just about all valid.
motorrebell Probably a Fender Twin or Showman with outboard reverb. There are photos of them playing in the studio around this time and Keith is playing through a Showman.
Hey PGS, what are you guys using/what are you guys doing to alter the voltage going into your pedals? I've noticed that on more than a few of the Riff of the Days that you do this, and I'd like to recreate that.
Some power supplies are capable of doing so, for example my voodoo lab pedal power 2 plus can do so with the two SAG outputs. Also a battery naturally does that, the longer you use it, the more the voltage drops
It is well known that Keith Richards takes the 6th string off of all his guitars. Did he really use the 6th string for Satisfaction as shown in this lesson?
Only in early 70’s presumably after he met Gram Parsons in 1968 and was heavily influenced by Country music and open G tuning. The low E string tuned down to D in open tuning was removed as it’s duplicated by the D string so was superfluous. Satisfaction was released in 1965
What is the big deal about tabs? They're helpful but when you have a guy giving you a free lesson on youtube showing you exactly how to play a riff or song note for note, why do people keep asking for tabs? You can replay and pause the video as much as you want.
Fastt Ed He intended it to be a horn part, and thought they were recording a rough demo version, but the rest of the band said, it’s a hit just like it is.
It doesn’t say if it’s open g or regular tuning. Plus there’s no tabs to help understand finger placement on the frets. I don’t like to complain but you guys helped me a lot to get tumbling dice and i was hoping for the same dynamics in this video. Sorry and thanks
I Love (!) your "show"! I Love all The catalinas ! From Black Sabbath to The Stones, from Led Zeppelin to ....! ❤️ THANK YOU! (The N.I.B. Video was amazing!)

Well, its gone 6 years now. How are you doing?
Andy, I really do get a lot of satisfaction from all of your videos.
To this day, still the most accurate and rhythmic feel of this song on RUclips!
Finally, a good and complete of all the parts! 👏👏

This is EXACTLY what I was looking for; most of the RUclips videos for this are super lame. Andy is a guitar GOD. Thank you.

another succinct lesson ! Thank you Andy!
One of my favorite places to go for demos and tutorials.
vuelven asonar las guitarras con viejas canciones con sonido renovado y nuevas generaciones
What a beautiful tele
OMG this Tele is a beauty... I've got a thing about these American Vinatge '52 Teles since I am 15!
Teles are love lol
Saw you demo the Gretsch Black Penguin and immediately had to come and subscribe. Love your playing!
lol Jason Hegel, that was my exact route as well
I like the way you just play and no talk
All these vids make me crave a Deluxe Reverb Reissue.
Yeah, Andy is giving me Fender amp fever. I'm thinking the next amp I get is a tweed deluxe clone.

this guy is quality
Very cool lesson : )
A pick? Say it aint so! Just kidding. Excellent as usual.
Good job.
My god there's nothing like a Tele.

good play

Please bring back the downtown PDX PGS store. Thanks.
Hey, I wish that could happen but PGS is no longer in business. I hope you enjoy these video because they're not going anywhere!
Andy
It's been a while. I'm jonesing for a new riff!
Does anyone know a lesson of Satisfaction with a FireBird Gibson?
Did The Rolling Stones used a Solid State Vox ac 30 for this song ? .
motorrebell Probably a Fender Twin or Showman with outboard reverb. There are photos of them playing in the studio around this time and Keith is playing through a Showman.
where do you get the drum beats?
Great lesson Andy. What model Tele are you playing?
No riffs of the day since April?

nice tele.
Andy have you been using the same DRri since the beginning of the pg youtube vids? Also curious what tubes you use in it?
Thanks!
I have got a great sound with a Fuzz Factory ;-)
The Rolling Stones : (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction [guitar cover]
It is well known that Keith Richards takes the 6th string off of all his guitars. Did he really use the 6th string for Satisfaction as shown in this lesson?
As far as I know he takes the 6th out of his guitars tuned to open G only
He only does this on his Open G guitars and only started doing it in the 70s.
Started in 69.
Only in early 70’s presumably after he met Gram Parsons in 1968 and was heavily influenced by Country music and open G tuning. The low E string tuned down to D in open tuning was removed as it’s duplicated by the D string so was superfluous. Satisfaction was released in 1965
Y el pedal fuzz?
what guitar has he got in this video?
Fender Telecaster
Which guitar is this??!
Fender telecaster
Bad religion song please!!!
For the first time ever i have a little "but" about PGS video. I think fuzz is a bit too smooth, sounds rough in original
totally agree - this sound is not quite there - a little to nice and polite compared to the rawer original
Andy, can I still enter for free pedal Friday? 😂

what happened to demoing new guitar pedals and guitars?
Probably they've made so many vids of them there isn't much left to demo.
Iago B I'd like to see them re-do a lot of the old videos with HQ audio, plus their format is better these days.
^ I agree!
TheEarthBlues2 Yup! would have been great. there's a lot of good stuff they are still selling.
Imagine you could take whole sets of tricky chords and ingrain them deep in your subconscious mind.
_Get it here!_ learnguitartv.blogspot.com
where is Rebecca :( :( :( ??
And ( supposedly ) Keith hit on this amazing, basic, money - making riff by accident.
Fastt Ed He intended it to be a horn part, and thought they were recording a rough demo version, but the rest of the band said, it’s a hit just like it is.

It would be easier if you talked while your teaching the song
イントロのカッティングは二種類だろ、なぜ忠実にやらん、、
invisible pick
No idea what the hell is pedal... Country)
What?
Useless
I Love (!) your "show"! I Love all The catalinas ! From Black Sabbath to The Stones, from Led Zeppelin to ....! ❤️
THANK YOU! (The N.I.B. Video was amazing!)
P.s.: for the typical Stones sound (from 1968-1972!) : CatalinBread: SFT.. Right?!
