“I played for 8 hours and don’t regret a second of it.” That’s probably the most powerful endorsement of a game possible.
The game is getting really poor reviews. Lacking endgame it seems and half finished.
@@logirex yes its getting poor reviews because chronically online people and basement dwellers cant accept the fact they cant play online the second the game officialy came out
Well thats pretty much only endorsement it CAN get since endgame is terribad.
8 hours is nothing. End game is what matters
@@logirex Well.. it's an online arpg, i really don't understand what do you mean "finished". Look at PoE, it's been there for 11 years, can you call it finished? I'm not, cuz it still has a lot of problems. Sure Last Epoch is not perfect, but for me it's already 10 times better then D4 and even without comparing it's just a fun game with great potential.
If anything, Last Epoch is the actual direct competition for Diablo 4 as the "casual" dark ARPG experience. This is a good thing.
A w@ke game is a w@ke game, so no. XD
@@IncognitoActivadoA stupid person remains a stupid person. XDD.
@@IncognitoActivado how the fk Is it woke??
@@davidpowers9178 it's prob a bot lol, been on for 1 month and already has 100+ comments
@davidpowers9178 It’s got females in it. /s
Last Epoch is a nice balance between depth and simplicity, coming from a PoE player since 2015, Last Epoch is a real good game for its price tag IMO. You could always wait for a sale to buy it.
Or you spend the full price which isn't half of what a shithole like Bli$$ is charging and support a small studio.
As a person coming from grim dawn it looks... soothing, to not have an item stats being the size of a small book
@michasokoowski6651 the ludicrously amount of item stats and modifiers in grim dawn is exactly why I never made it more than a few hours into the game. I just couldn't get into it or enjoy it and understand it, it was too complicated and detailed for what I was wanting. Last Epoch has been a breath of fresh air to me, not too insane line PoE, but with plenty of depth
and punishment for re-specing lol
Pirate 😎
Dude all these indie games coming out at half the price but with double or more the content of AAA games is amazing. Just recently we had Enshrouded, Palworld and now Last Epoch. Whenever I hear someone complaining about the “state of gaming these days” they’re always only talking about AAA games, ignoring the treasure trove of incredible indie games available for extremely affordable prices. I’d have paid $70 each for both enshrouded and LE, but I was able to get them both for less than that. I even got LE for like $20 when I picked it up several years ago
This last year may be my favorite in gaming releases ever, and thats from playing hundreds of games over 30+ years. There are so many good games out there. People just suck at looking for them.
Don’t forget about Helldivers 2 for $40
Appreciate Asmon giving 3 different takes. 1 for the rich, 1 for the not sure and one for the people who are low on cash.
I think the value is based on the amount of time you play it for. If you can get 72 hours out of PalWorld then that's very good value. If this is $35 and you can get even half of that amount of time I'd say it was time worth spending. Like a dollar per hour value could be used to measure value, at least in the sense of not feeling bad for throwing money at something.
@Snagprophet That's true if it's quality time. I know some people who will buy games and play until they finish even if they hate every second of it just because they spent money to buy the game. so I wouldn't say 72 hours of hating yourself is worth $35
@@Snagprophetat this point super Mario 3 owes me money lol
@@Snagprophet I've been using the dollar per hour standard since I was in high school in the early 00s as a base standard for deciding if I got my money's worth or not. I think with games this is a pretty solid standard to go by.
@@pinkteacrotchdweller6869 I can't stand that mindset lol. If I hate it I hate it. If I'm not having fun after the first hour I'm just going to refund it and get something else. Very rarely are there games where the first hour will be different than the 40th or 50th hour.
During early release, the devs would often pop up in general chat to talk with players about what was working and what felt off. It was incredibly refreshing seeing them take feedback and implementing it.
One of the many reasons i bought into it, because devs are down to earth and as you said, refreshing to see!
@@Basuko_Smoker same. I’m a casual andy, and bought it in early access. I was really disappointed with the controller support, but really wanted to play the game. I refunded, gave feedback and read plenty of discussion about this, so they clearly knew there was demand for controller support. Fast forward to launch, there it is, full controller support. It’s not perfect, but I trust they will keep improving… you know, ‘cause there’s precedent that they listen to feedback. No refund this time, I’m learning to play with mkb and plan to couch play future seasons (cycles)
@@NintendoSCFAN Good luck and keep grinding!
You mean doing their job and not acting like they have to be making 6 figures to do it properly?
It helps that they are a bunch of action rpg nerds as well.
"looking forward to playing it tomorrow" alr that's the last time he played this game
🤣
Nah, that doesn't apply to Souls-like or Diablo-like games. He just does that for all other genres.
The best compliment I can give the game is that is not actively trying to prevent me from breaking it and do crazy shit, neither funnel me to repetitive non-action shit, which is my personal problem with d4. Thats all
You want fun, action and power fantasies? LE WILL deliver. It has its problems, but the devs clearly know what they are doing and they love the game, so you can wait and see.
I've been playing around with proccing gathering storm on primalist and it might actually get to point I spawn 2 tornados as fast as I can click the button and those tornados can all proc shit multiple times a second, so yeah the game has some server crash potential builds like poe lol
Wait, hammerdin, furious charge, whirlwind build?
Yes sir. They're all there.
Wait until you start proccing smite from your hammers and also your charge skill. It’s fuckin lightning storm screen wide clears. I got my smite hammerdin to 84 last week and it’s amazing
Yep they got some wild builds in there, all the way from minion builds to death lazers to unlimited thunder I love it.
bruh i have a build spawning skeleton runner bombing the f out of every mobs lol, this game has a lot of builds.
Played PoE on and off since 2017 and I hated my life every time I tried crafting something, played last epoch for 7-8 hours and I already love crafting.
how gameplay feels? POE hooks me within first levels. It's just feel good to kill monsters)
@@staskozak8118 Loving the gameplay, it is very fluid and skills feel impactful and satisfying to cast. The only thing I don't like so far is that sometimes trapdoors are hard to find/click.
@@staskozak8118I have over 300 hours in LE..the game is great and worth every cent

@@staskozak8118 the proggresion is very fluid and you feel stronger every level or skill level up and you cant really ruin your character like POE and basically every build works while in the campaign AND you can easily respce and experiment
I have 300 plus hours in this game and don't regret a second of it.
For 35 dollars it's really good. I also purchased the game last week and on the weekend I made almost 20hr.
Just rebind your movement skill to space as pretty much every class uses one
True.
As a lich I'm even using two.
One on left alt one on space.
Just small correction - Diablo 4 did not steal Lost Ark's roll AND Lost Ark didn't invent it either. It was Diablo 3 CONSOLE ONLY feature that was implemented as far I know. If someone have information about even older diablo like game havin it correct me.
Ohh it’s console only, I was super confused there, as a I only played D3 on console. Makes sense
Lost Ark isn't exactly a game like Diablo, even if it looks like it on the surface. After actually playing it, it felt like any other modern Korean MMORPG, just with an isometric view. So the roll makes sense.
true
but now blizzard is a shitshow , so who cares
didnt titan quest had it before d3?
@@ImotekhtheStormlord-tx2it I dunno, never been fan of TQ and didnt play it much.
My first and only impressions of the game: "[LE-61] Failed to Matchmake"
I strictly play offline. And totally avoid online portions. So not much problem for me
@@Geralt_zRivii you say that but i can't even play the offline portion lol.
How can you not play it offline? The offline been working flawlessly.
Dude, play offline
be real man, play offline
I played very little yesterday, until level 6. In this short timespan I already bought many items from the shop.
Specifically I found a white armor that does +40 armor and +15% damage which sounds significantly better than the blue I was wearing, then went to the forge and effortlessly added life and dodge to it. The simple and efficient system was very satisfying to use. Gotta see more in the long run, but I can say for once the devs nailed the early game fantasy of finding interesting stuff at a vendor and improving it with crafting.
I never used crafting in D3, barely used it in D2 and barely used it in PoE (too overwhelming)
99% of these games wouldn't allow me to do what I can do with items in this game and its baffling now that I've experinced it.
I can use a shield on my mage... Or any class... I'm sold.
You didn't play much d2 or d3 then
If you are a fan of the genre in the slightest, you really owe it to yourself to give this a try. Will definitely hold you over until PoE2.
I tried this game, it's just cheap crap like POE
I have been playing this game since beta, it was most definitely worth 35 dollars back then, and I think with 1.0 it's even more worth now. It has complexity, solid progressions systems, tough endgame challenges and unique dungeons. You won't find 35 dungeons here, but you will a few good ones that each feels unique to other dungeons. You honestly cannot go wrong with this one.
Plus 2nd cycle will have new end game stuff and each cycle will come with some new thing. You pay $35 and you get new co tent every few months. How can you not like that lol
I really love this game and have played it for a few years. Between D4 and POE. I love the skills, I love the "you don't need a build guide to beat the story," and I absolutely love the communication. Only game I have 120 hours in on Steam.
You don't need a guide for builds to beat the story in D4 either.. I didn't when the game released. There are so many S/A tier builds in D4.
I don't need a guide to play PoE either. I've done 6+ leagues, going well into endgame maps, and done pretty well each time without ever so much as reading one line of a build guide. Some people really need them, and some people don't.
Either way, LE has much much more build diversity than D4.
if you think "playing well into maps" is something to brag about, you're the kind of brainlet that needs a guide lmao@@zacharyshort384
You guys perfectly know what he mean. There is nothing useless in LE. You like that skill? Build your character arround it, up the tag shown on the skill. You can even go end game and just enjoy by playing and learning by yourself and not just hit a wall like some ARPG...
I've always used space bar for mobility skills in all these games and it felt amazing. You don't need a dedicated roll button to do so.
I think what he wants is a roll action that doesn't have a 30 second cool down, or that's isn't only useable while transformed...
I use right click, because that's what I'm used to from playing top-down twin stick shooters, or Tracer in OW.
Me too
@@Mageblood Afaik most mobility skills have very short cooldown, which can be further reduced
@@Mageblood mobvement skills in LE are bot 10 sec cd, xD and the game isnt as slow as d4 to need a no cd roll
Last Epoch reminded me a lot of Diablo 2, so it's a win in my view.
As a falconer I use the Shift skill bound to my spacebar
I've played LE for years since it came out in early access I'm so happy to see people enjoy it. It's a badass game and the devs are so willing to make it better everyday.
Exactly, I was looking for a Dash or something on spacebar because it felt weird without it.
Use the 2nd bind option in settings, put the "R" key on spacebar also so u can put the movement skill on R and u can use it with both R and spacebar ;)
with the spacebar dodge thing... can't you bind the slot for your movement skill to spacebar?
i love the honest advices from asmon, so simple but so good.
I love Last Epoch's skill customization. You have so many meaningful choices while the system is still relatively easy to understand.
I can't wait to reach higher levels so i can really start to tinker the different combinations :)
Just bind your travel skill to spacebar, that's what I do. Feels great.
With games like Last Epoch and Path of Exile being around, why would someone waste their time and money further on Diablo 4?
Because people play more than 2 games, and the ARPG genre is very small, there's only a handful of notable games.
For the $60 mounts of course
The same reason people play Genshin Impact instead of Tower of Fantasy and Wuthering Waves 👍
@@marcoonroad7 tower of fantasy xd
LMAO, i saw 2 people so far with it@@Aybo1000
I picked this up on Monday prior to the launch. Looking forward to hitting a few hours a day over the weekend!
I think in general if you haven't bought the game yet, but want to do this, give it a couple of days until devs solve all the technical stuff, because 1.0 launch wasn't the smoothest.
Wasn't the smoothest but I still preferred this to the usual situation of never being able to login at all on launch day ^_^
The talent trees for skills alone make this game so much better then d4
will probably try this game, have tried a few of this genre and they didn't click all the way but they were fun for the time I played
Idk how many times i have pressed spacebar to be honest. Like its just there, a fat thing on the keyboard and its not used at all ahahah
The hammer hurricane is just too good!
Reload screens are the longest I have seen in a long time

Not Asmons editors adding that title constantly to longplays he does of new games?
2024 seems like a goated year for gamers. It's only Feb and we already have 3 GOTY quality releases in Palworld, Hell divers 2 and now Last Epoch.
Turns out i already bought this game months or years ago
the best part of launch for me. finding out i already own it.
I 100% agree that we need the spacebar dash...
I cant tell you the amount of times I hit space thinking I can dodge. 100% agreed
I was given this game last year when it was still in early acces, i havent touched it yet, currently finishing up on Enshrouded, but with Helldivers 2 and this one, its hard to pick on which one to start after Enshrouded.
Asmon, just bind your traversal skill to spacebar I agree that a baseline "dodge" dedicated to each class like Lost Ark would be nice, but the traversal skills in this game are all unique and can be heavily modified through their skill trees, heck, most of them are under 4s cooldowns at endgame
Awesome review mate! I also appreciate your advice to wait for a few days for those that are on the fence!
Last Epoch is what we all needed so badly.
If this had D4s graphics and audio then it would be damn near perfect.
Pro Tip: Change your Q to Potion hotkey and set the "Q skill" to Spacebar. Put your movement skill in that slot, and voila, you have your movement on spacebar.
I totally agree with the space bar, im constantly trying to lunge forward...after playing d4 so much
you can just map your traversal skill to spacebar
What a very down to earth early review…. Kinda makes me wanna play it lol
U can’t fool me the way he talks he probably already got replaced with an ai
Very fun and good game. Sorting button. System that puts materials into their own section making inventory managements alot easier. The filter system. The levels look and feel great. Developers understand.
The space bar roll/dash is literally the one thing I need in this game. It's my only complaint so far.
Diablo 4 didn't steal the space to roll from Lost Ark. Diablo 3 had something similar on console.
How can you even steal the bind button? And roll mechanics existed for 10000000 years
Who knows, maybe the devs can patch in an evade roll in the future if demand for it is high enough. Grim Dawn devs did that too after all this time even though they didn't need to. So a chance is there
My first impression was 40 mins of stuck on load screen and I gave up and refunded. I will go back to the new D2R ladder today instead
As long as there is Barbarian class to play, it's a good game for Asmon.
He's playing "paladin" though
The barbarian class in that game is seen as an old man and that is due to the ma.le agenda in the w@ke agenda.
Not paladin lol, void knight
@@TheMandaEye which is basically that. but holie-er
@@marclenraymagdaraog691 but there is a literal separate paladin subclass, which he isn't playing
If they fully fix the server / connection issues it will be gold. I agree with the roll!
Lol I havent even been able to login and change zones reliably yet so... very different experiences.
They gotta fix the damn servers still
As someone who bought the game at the earliest point in early access, played with and without mods, this is without a doubt the most value for money arpg ive ever played. Especially seeing how far it has come since 2018
I honestly didn't think he was going to die at any point lol.
What I love about the game is the full-content offline mode.
Though I do not know if it will affect the developers because, after looking into it, it seems like adding a --offline to a shortcut of the game's exe turns it offline and fully DRM free. In other words, the game file dont need to be even cracked to be "pirated" just share the files.
This is the best first impression I could ask
I agree with spacebar to dash I keep hitting it wanting to do that, was he getting streamer privileges to be able to play online or was this all offline, online has barely worked for me entire time since launch
I've been playing Le since it's initial early access release. Never regretted buying it. It's a fun game and the end game is unique but repetitive like any other ARPG.
not a word about the disgusting state of the servers and two-minute loading times between locations.
How vast is the content?
I couldnt believe it takes only like 18gb and still looks so good
Wow we both picked void knight
i would change 2 things. should be able to use any skill on left click without being forced to use one on the bars(basically have 6 skills) and add a special dodge skill on space
End game to this was a hell of a lot more fun then D4
I can’t wait until they add mechanics and uberbosses to the monoliths, which im sure they will in future cycles. Im enjoying the dungeons so much as well
@@jgsource552 I just felt like the developers of this game are huge diablo fans, and fans of this style of game. Just the small QOL things made this game stand out. Want to respec? Sure go for it. Want to teleport directly to your friends? Sure I don't see why not.
I feel like they realized end game is nothing but a grind fest in these sort of games, and they came up with ways to make that grind more fun, and engaging with a few different ways to explore the end game. I haven't played in a year and I know a lot has changed since. But I just felt more satisfied continuing playing LE vs D4 when it came to end game.
@@therealaexion i think the dev made a reddit post yrs ago brainstorming ideas on how they should tackle some systems in this game like skill trees, and he mentioned how he was a huge fan of diablo 2 and its systems
972 hours before 1.0 released... love the game, love EHG
Im going to have a good weekend with it, bought the game some years ago on early access, nice to know I now own the finished game on release.
I love how a non-D2 player beelined it straight for the LE version of Hammerdin
the loading screen kill me
The hit numbers look good
Very enjoyable gameplay and systems so far!
A dodge move on space bar would be incredible.
All classes have 'traversal skills' that can be augmented and enhanced in LE. Much more impressive than a basic roll.
People realized the issues with d4 in its beta, it’s release, it’s dozen of patches, season 1 and 3
Been supporting this game for about a year and a half or two. Really nice to see them finally achieve 1.0.
I've owned the game for a couple of years, to see how it has come along is pretty awesome. However I can't talk about the actual release as I choose to stay off it for a few days as I thought there was bound to be server issues, I'll play it on the weekend/Monday.
Just some solid game purchasing advice in this clip.
It's fine I guess, but I didn't really like any of the chassis that much. Also during the first day of playing I had three crashes, one of the main story quests bugged out, and another bug when I teleported to a map by portal, I would be swarmed by mobs before I could even react.
What I miss the most is the left mouse button attack.
You can change key-binds I think
@@suyoze1747 I did but then sadly I can't move with the left mouse button
reminds more of Path of Exile combined with Grim Dawn
This is the first ARPG where I don't want to press just 1 button all the way to endgame. It feels good to press 3 or 4 for different reasons.
Game is good but they need to fix the loading shit when u enter new zone or use portal in online mode.
I set the dash move rouge has to space bar lol
Really insightful review, thanks Asmon! 👍🎮
I'm actually glad they didn't add roll button it was annoyin to use in D4
probably the only guy in fkn universe who can make 2min first impression video... after spending just 8h in game... and make me completely trust him on his words
I enjoyed my time with it yesterday, and imagine I will feel like I got my money's worth of entertainment by the end of the weekend.
But beyond that, I think its worth buying just to support a company that made a game that
a) Prioritizes Quality of Life features, and at no added real world cost
b) The In game guide. Wow. After experiencing it, it is setting a standard that is likely to constantly nag at me when I play other games and need to alt+tab out to look at some wiki.
c) Implementation of a cosmetic shop that is not overflowing with over the top options or options that make everything in the game look like dogcrap in comparison. I am not very into microtransactions, but if its going to be here, I appreciate that they did not let having a cosmetic shop impact the experience of the base game without it.
I don't put it at a high likelihood that it is going to become the only ARPG I ever play, but I am still very enthusiastic to support what they have done here.
Did he kill the end game boss, LE-61????
The biggest test is still to come, how the company is going to adapt and overcome the issues that will arrive. Some poe creators have big faith on the team developing the game, and thusfar the game looks well thought and made with love, which are very good signs. Best of luck to all involved, including us, players.
game is actually great just gotta get servers stable and maybe add 1 or 2 more end game activities
The improvements over the last 5 years have shown that even if the game isnt perfect, which it definitely is not, it is going to be improved overtime.
I took a year away from LE because I wanted to have a fresh start for 1.0 and the game feels way way better minus the server issues, which i imagine will be sorted out today or tomorrow if they arent already taken care of.
It is kinda like D2 in that it is relatively simple to understand but it has content that you can just play forever.
And the full offline version now makes it almost perfect. It will be replacing Grim Dawn as my offline game and I will be playing this until PoE2 comes out at least.
Its fun. Its cheap. The devs care. Its not P2W in any way and is just solid nostalgic gaming.
9/10 for the content of 1.0
3/10 for the launch and server issues.
overall probably a 8/10 that could be a 10/10 given maybe a few league updates.
You can dodge tho! Each class has a couple movement abilities that can be specced as dodges, blocks or invulnerablilities!!!

I've got a better endorsement: I'm not a millionaire, pirated this game first to see if it was any good, then bought it to support the devs. It's a VERY solid, no-bullshit, ARPG.
This is the way, matey.
On the waiting part, i half agree and half dont its been in early access for so long and the content that was already there pre-release was 100% worth the price if you like Arpgs. Also grim dawn is also an amazing ARPG that shouldve been bigger than it was, it is amazing.
I can't wait to get more into this game, I am gonna try and make some builds based on anime characters.
