First up...MASSIVE APOLOGIES FOR THE AUDIO.... the next Video is the same too! Sorry! This is the best I could get. Secondly, 📔 DOWNLOAD MY FREEBIES; stevethebarman.com/hello Cocktail eBooks and Sipping Rum Guide 📔
I’m going with 1. Stiggins 2. 3 Star 3. Fiji 4. Plantation 5 If I’m telling people what to buy. It’s Stiggins 1st. 3 Star next and then the 5! All very versatile. And all great in cocktails. Could skip the Fiji as a newbie! But I don’t think you can skip that Stiggins, no way! I love the sacrifice you made for science here in making so many different daiquiris! Happy daiquiri day!
The first thing I thought was "10 rums in 12 minutes? Is this even possible??? Get to work Steve! Don't muck around!" I'm surprised you folks don't have the Grand Reserve. We were especially happy to hear the Fiji did so well... that one's readily available to us, along with the Xaymaca... we don't so much mind Jamaican funk in our daiquiris around here, but I hear you. This was super interesting to watch! Thank you so much for this excellent, quick, deep dive!
I like daiquiris, probably the most often made cocktail in my house. 3 star is one of my favorites. But I also like dark rum daiquiris. OD is fine with me. My favorite is Kaniche XO, I think I mentioned this before.
hang on im confused. Im the dark rum video, your favorite was the plantation OD, and in this video its only a 5/10? so are all of these that much better than the goslins/myers rums??
Well you’ve commented on a Daiquiri video…so I’ll answer this in relation to Daiquiris. YES. Every single one of those Rums are miles better than Goslings/Myers in a Daiquiri. You just wouldn’t buy a Dark/Black Rum for a Daiquiri. Dark Rums are for Tiki Cocktails and Ginger…although they are also my pref for Coke too. Now if I was doing a dark & stormy test, then Goslings would probably fair better than most of the rums in this video…except probs the OD and OFTD.
agricole is fun! the first one I bought was a (kind of expensive) aged bottle, and I think that was a big mistake. the oak mostly overwhelms the cane juice aromas, I don't really "get" it (I'll try it again at some point, but it was a miss initially). picked up a (much cheaper) bottle of blanc and I think it's really cool. grassy, nutty, with almost a berry-like note. but also with this slight skunkiness that (pleasantly) reminds me of tequila. what an interesting beverage. (also Stiggins makes a great daiquiri. it's definitely a _pineapple_ daquiri, so you have to be in the mood for that. but it's a really safe choice to hand to someone who's never really had rum and doesn't know daiquiris come in any flavor but strawberry and be confident that they'll have a really nice experience)
Great video as always! And I’m completely with you on the 3 stars! And here’s a little feedback: I liked the video not because it was comparing different plantation (or whatever brand) rums but because it was comparing different types of rums and how they compare in a cocktail. A video comparing the different styles (Jamaican, Barbados, Guyana, Mauritius, reunion etc) would be very interesting in my opinion. But I wouldn’t want to choose the rums for that one 😅 especially when you are considering the age as well! Oh and regarding our spiced rum discussion: I completely forgot the stiggins fancy… I love that one, even though I usually like neither spiced rum nor pineapples…
Interesting... i love that idea. I kinda have a "White Rum Daq off coming up" which obvs includes jamaica, Barbados, Guyana etc. But hadn't thought of the title angle like that. But there's potential for a whole series of vids like this.
Hey Steve. I may have just discovered the ultimate daiquiri. Just a touch of Jamaican funk it’s perfect. 2oz of 3 star and 0.5oz of xaymaca. Half a line and 0.5oz of 2:1 syrup. I always do a 2.5oz pour a la morgenthaler. But subbing in that 0.5oz of xaymaca really levels it up!
Hi Steve, Happy Christmas. I was lucky to receive a few of the range for Christmas. Are you able to help with the Smugglers Cove categories please - I’m struggling!! I had: 5 Yr Grand Reserve (think this is a 3) Isle of Fiji Xaymaca Original Dark Gran Anejo Guatemala & Belize . Thanks in advance and a Happy New Year!!!
I've really started to like Plantation rums, currently have grande reserve, pinepple, gran anejo, xo 20th anniversary and vintage 2011 barbados. Really wanna get Xaymaca and OFTD next to try.
While I very much appreciate their openness and transparency, I appreciate even more the fact they’re a cool company. They seem to generally want to make special and really good products. Ferrand overall. They dry curaçao. The 1840 cognac. Seems to be made more for customers than pure bottom line. And back to the first point. It can be like pulling teeth to get the makeup of spirits from other companies. Here in Canada we have rye. But it doesn’t always have rye in it. Or not much. And they’ll just tell you it’s a secret. What, am I going to steal your recipe and make my own? Right
Check this out, im visiting netherlands again and found the 20th anniversary XO plantation rum for 38 euros, i did not hesitate one second. 😅 Also, im VERY interested about those higher range plantation rums you've got there behind you. Taller bottles with animals on the label. Did you make any video about them yet?
I have not tried all the Plantation Rums. But I have tried the 3 star, the O.D., the 5 year and the XO in a daiquiri. I do like the 5 year but after this video I will have to try the Stiggins Pineapple and the Isle of Fiji and the O.F.T.D next!
Normally I go for the 3 star for a Daiquiri, but I did see a Nuclear Daiquiri recipe online using overproof Wray and Nephew but subbed with OFTD!? mmmmmmm😋
Sorry had to message, I've had many many different daiquiris with all the white rums that are in your videos, but I just accidentally added grenadine instead of normal suger and ohhhh yes.....
From what I know, there’s still plenty in the UK if you search, but obvs it was a limited Run because of the Barrel. (It was one of the barrels they used for their vintage releases…so reused it for the Stiggins).
Love your videos Steve, I always have. But I’m not sold on your mic or the sound. It’s so low that I have the tv up loud and then when adverts come on it about blows my ears off lol
Sorry to hear this! I know Live shows (for obvious reasons) can be hit or miss (about 1 in 5) but I’ve never really had a complaint on normal videos and I get about 5000 views a day. RUclips does normalise most videos so I can only think that it’s the Ads that are at a higher volume. 🤷♂️🤷♂️ All my uploads have had the same Audio settings for a few years now. So I really can’t help you I’m afraid.

It's a hard job, but i'm up to the task... Cheers for watching Ann.

Thanks for watching Susan! 😍 (would it help you know the filming was actually 30 mins... 😇😂)

My kids bought me the 3 Stars and Stiggins Fancy for my birthday. Amazing rums. I couldn't put a playing card between them, myself 👍
Great Rums aren't they!!!!
Really good. Looking forward to exploring the range...

was literally just looking for a video like this yesterday 😄
Hope you enjoyed it?
I agree with all your comments. Your a legend 👊
NO, YOU'RE the Legend! 😘 (literally)
Cheers. Happy Daiquiri Day. Great video.
Thank you! You too mate. Cheers!

Steve got the Rums 😍 you are very fortunate to have a bottle of the coconut plantation
I only have a sample...60ml! The bottle in the video is the Canerock Spiced...but it does have an element of the Plantation Coconut in it!
Hi Steve, Happy Christmas.
I was lucky to receive a few of the range for Christmas. Are you able to help with the Smugglers Cove categories please - I’m struggling!! I had:
5 Yr Grand Reserve (think this is a 3)
Isle of Fiji
Xaymaca
Original Dark
Gran Anejo Guatemala & Belize
.
Thanks in advance and a Happy New Year!!!
Plantation 3 Stars is my go-to light rum for Daiquiri's, Piña Coladas and what I suppose is a Coconut Daiquiri, 2 Rum, 1 Lime juice, .75 Coco Lopez.
Great video Steve! Have all these except the Canerock. Wouldn't mind doing this comparison. The stiggins is delicious in a Pineapple Mai Tai👍😋😋
Pineapple Mai Tais are the BOMB!
thanks Steve, now I need to buy more rum!
You and me both!
I've really started to like Plantation rums, currently have grande reserve, pinepple, gran anejo, xo 20th anniversary and vintage 2011 barbados. Really wanna get Xaymaca and OFTD next to try.
Very nice mate. Some great Rums there.

We did a Live Taste Along on the Jamaican a couple of months back, but the other stuff is years and years old.
Happy world daiquiri day!!
I have not tried all the Plantation Rums. But I have tried the 3 star, the O.D., the 5 year and the XO in a daiquiri. I do like the 5 year but after this video I will have to try the Stiggins Pineapple and the Isle of Fiji and the O.F.T.D next!
You'll LOVE The Stiggins! and the Fiji!!

That sounds ace!
Have the Gran Anejo, Fiji and stiggins, will try these as daqs as soon as, still sipping pina colada on the 🏖😋
Nice!!!! How about all 3 in a Pina Colada?!
Sorry had to message, I've had many many different daiquiris with all the white rums that are in your videos, but I just accidentally added grenadine instead of normal suger and ohhhh yes.....
You’re only a step away from an El Presidente. Just needs Lillet 👍
If I were ranking those Plantation rums for a Daiquiri, I'd go with Stiggins Fancy, XO, Fiji, 5 Year and then 3 Star.
Plantation is my favorite rum brand!
Which Rum is your favvy?
@@StevetheBarmanUK I havent tried all of them but the pineapple and the XO are my favorite so far!
Just bought my first ever bottle of Plantation today and it was the 5 year old!!!
Hope you liked it?!
Anyone else find it kind of ironic that plantation, a French company, generally makes English style rums but not French style?
Throw in the Smoky Formula next time as a bonus! It's been one of my favorites recently and I can't find it anymore so I'm making it last.
From what I know, there’s still plenty in the UK if you search, but obvs it was a limited Run because of the Barrel. (It was one of the barrels they used for their vintage releases…so reused it for the Stiggins).

Way to much string
There is no room for your stringest comments in this group very disappointed in your views rhum boy 🤬
Technically it's miniature rope 🤣
Also *too🤣
To be honest I don't think there was enough string! 😕
Is that your string theory?
