It was a foul, but idk why it wasn't called as an offensive foul? What was the official call? Cause ain't no way that was the "over the back" lol, if anyone knows what kind of foul it was by the rulebook please post it fr
@@lazarperic4525 Easy. Ball was already away from Lauvergnes shot. If he would have hit it, it would have counted. Therefore no offensive foul, but a loose ball foul.
@@clockworkfrustration Basketball referee here, let me explain: The reason that Giffey got free throws was because it was not an offensive foul, as the ball control of a team ends if the ball is released for a shot and the contact occured after the ball was in the air. Any foul called after that is "regular" personal foul, and due to the team foul rule the penalty was two freethrows. Also for similar reasons, the shot would have counted, if it had been successful. In my personal opinion this situation was incredbily close. These block/charge are one of the hardest to get right as a referee. The fact that Giffey was still moving is not relevant here, what is relevant is wether he already occupied the path of the attacker when they jumped off. In real time I also would have called a "charge", but looking at the replay a block might be better. Its a 50/50 situation for me.
@@luk17032000 Thanks for the clarification. I wouldn't have figured it out otherwise. It is really difficult to make the right decision in real time, indeed, but at this level the referees can always refer to the video replay.
I still don't understand why Bayern got free throws in the end. As far as I know when there is an offensive foul you go for inbound, even if you have 5 team fouls.
Absolutely ridiculous. Never seen a defensive called on this type of play. The fact that’s also a winning play is just an absolute joke. Let the players wins it ffs.
The time should never have any effect on a decision by the referees. A foul which is called in the first minute of play, should be called the same way in the last minute of the second overtime.
I'm gonna go opposite than everybody it seems but to me it is a perfect call. Giffey stands still and it is a clear foul from Lauvergne and since he has already shot it is not and offensive foul because Lauvergne has no possession of the ball, it is a loose ball foul so two free throws awarded. To me, in this play, perfect officiating. I'm also gonna say that Lauvergne dunk at the end of OT1 was fouled by Weiler-Babb. In this case there was an important mistake.
That logic is false. Then If that's the case why are people getting 3 free throws when there's contact after they have shot the ball? If the offensive player is still in the air, it's still the same offensive play.
@@TheAnswer_13 I used to think like you but then I made an exam (I’m studying to be a coach and rules were part of it) and I answered the question wrong. I guess lay-ups work different than shots. But Lauvergne shoots and then he charges on Giffey when he has already lost control of the ball. According to the rules, it is a loose ball foul.
Its not easy to take position when the opponent run like hell for the basket , he is trying to cover the body and he was afraid a bit , but it was a 50-50 call .Good match 2 good coaches ,respect for Lasso his attitude is respectful .

The last call by the refs is probably the worst call i've ever seen in my whole life
u must not be watching any nba then :DDD that being said, the call is fucking bullshit lol
The last call of the regular time was even worse.
Refs just want to go home , they are too tired for OT3
i'm sure they'll get plenty of rest on their suspensions.
can't believe call like that ... giffey was still taking position when lauvergne already started to jump ...
Not an offensive foul. Giffey was still moving when Lauvergne jumped. Shame for a great game to end like this.
agree, he still was taking position, ridiculous call from refs
but how is it possible to get freethrows after an offensive foul??? bayern did not have posession of the ball, how can they get two shots?
@@kumamonkumamoto3844 Maybe they somehow awarded technical foul? I've no clue whatsoever.

They gave a loose ball foul, not an offensive foul. That's why he shot free throws. Kinda bullshit if you ask me.
That the law in europe, if the ball was going in it would have counted also
u missed vasilis spanoulis reaction former euroleague mvp assistant coach of peristeri ...search and u see

Probably the best game of the season so far👀🔥
wait! how is it possible to get 2 freethrows after an offensive foul???
Awful charge call, absolutely brutal!
what in the charging foul is that? either a blocking foul or nothing, thats bullshit man i agree with Pozzecco
Pozzecco should complain and himself, up by 3 and for two times in a row he didn’t choose to foul with just few seconds left. Wake up
I mean tbf to him, it was bad decision to call that offensive foul that late in the game

No. Defenders feet are not set, he rushes to be in the way. Mistakes happen but this one was very obvious.

@@oriolhermosilla Weird considering that it's the first time I've seen something like that not being called a charging foul.
@@TheAnswer_13 right. what was the player supposed to do in the air? is he a superman? it's physics. it must fall somewhere :D

shame on you refs
yes, this is an offensive foul. but why didn't they foul when there was a 3-point advantage several times? Stupid coach stupid team..
These refs should never whistle in a game ever again
