    Who is the Holy Spirit?
You know that the Holy Spirit is inside Jesus "filled with the Holy Spirit, Jesus...". But Jesus reiterates many times in the gospels that HE IS ONLY WITH THE FATHER (for ex. "I am not ALONE because the Father is with me", i.e. only Son and Father). This means that the Holy Spirit MUST necessarily be the Father: according to Jesus nobody else is with Him. The Father indeed is A SPIRIT ("God is a spirit" Jn. 4:23,24).
    What happens?
Simply Jesus has the "FATHER who is a SPIRIT" and calls Him either "Holy Father" or "Holy Spirit" according to circumstances. The name "Holy Spirit" is the "spirit-name" of that SPIRIT - who is the Father. It's used by Jesus TO IDENTIFY that SPIRIT among other spirits. This means that blasphemy against the Holy Spirit means blasphemy against the Father. He is "greater than Jesus", this is why that blasphemy is considered more severe by Jesus. This means that when Jesus was baptized the Holy Spirit - the Father in the form of a spirit - was there speaking. Mary: of course the Father of Jesus can only be.....the Father. The Holy Spirit with Mary was the Father who is a spirit.
That "Spirit who is the Father" - i.e. that "Spirit who is God" - is also called "Spirit of God".
He was away during the Council of Nicaea.
